Anatolian Evleri in Gaziantep are registered by the Historical Society, which meant some special permission and licenses had to be obtained from the authorities to restore them to the state and look they originally had. The inn was built in 1885/1886 by Governor Rustem Bey and Mayor Mustafa Aga throught the means of the municipality by order of Aleppo Governor Cemil Bey. The architect of the inn was Kirkor and the decorator Abbas, son of Ali Efendi. The building belongs to the group of two – storey Ottoman inns. It has a rectangular plan, carrying many features of classic Ottoman inn architecture. The spaces on the ground storey were build as shops, storerooms and stables, and the rooms on the upper storey forthe accommodation of travellers. The courtyard is surrounded by spaces on four sides, and behind the spaces in the southern part are located the stables extending in two naves. Initially, there was a well in the middle of the courtyard to provide the water needs of the inn, but is was later closed off and a fountain was constructed which is accessed by going down in two steps from the ground of the courtyard. The upper storey of the inn is surrounded by porches of the east, West and North. Among the inns in Gaziantep, this is the building most noticeable in terms of its decorations, all of which are concentrated on three monumental portals. The inn, already preserved to a major extent, has been preserved and maintained in its original state through the restoration work in 2004.
