Stayed for one night after seeing Ed Sheeran in Sunderland. 15 mins (uphill) to the Metro and a short stroll across Gateshead Millennium Bridge to the bars on the Quayside. Check-in/out can be done online for speed and ease. The room although it was in need of a bit of TLC, in the decor stakes, it was was clean, and equipped with the usual requirements of a short stay. Breakfast was plentiful and restocked regularly to keep it fresh and felt value for money. Parking is £8.50 for 24 hrs, and is small but there is other parking close by.

The windows don't open and the sink had a huge crack in it the aircon is noisy and it's a bit dated. They took the payment and also made me out of pocket by £135 by taking an extra pending payment. Its a lot of money to me and really messed up my finances. Will never stay again not worth the £284 for one night plus extra £135 pending. So disappointed

Stayed her for 4 nights, a very warm welcome from the receptionist, and all staff were very helpful, polite, friendly and willing to help us to find our way around the area with good advice of places to see. Hotel generally is good, but some areas are “tired looking “…. Our room was clean, with the usual items that we were expecting available to us. The one thing that was a little on the disappointing is the lightning in the bedroom, Doing my hair and makeup was difficult as there was no light near…a table light would have been nice… perhaps this is something for the refurbishment team to look at. Breakfast and evening meals were good, - little bit limited if you have an allergy to onions. A sort of chicken meal or salmon would have been nice. Staff were polite and very friendly. The bar and dining area were the main areas that we would say needed refurbishment, we would however stay here again.

Stayed here as a base for Beamish Museum which is just 25 minutes away. Initially a little concerned due to the close proximity to the A1 but actually in the room we could hear nothing, triple glazed windows and apparently aircon coming for the summer also. Nice sized room (#2), lovely shower and bathroom and looking out to the beer garden. Cant see the A1 as its shielded by trees. Restaurant attached and reasonably priced good food. Breakfast excellent and the staff there very helpful and friendly.

We have stayed at this hotel over the last 30 years and really like it. Staff are always friendly good facilities - spa, gym restaurant car park. Some time now since are last visit and firstly we noticed quite a hike in the room rate. Silly frustrating comparisons to previous stays- biscuits in room only on first night of stay. 1 shampoo, 1 conditioner and 1 shower gel in bathroom 1st day, not really enough for two adults. 2nd night only shampoo and conditioner replaced. Even the 2 toilet rolls first day (1 partially used) was left at only one on day two. No complimentary bottles of water in room. Maybe we got the wrong impression but it really seemed like cutbacks. Certainly not the same value as The Radisson we stayed in on the way to Gateshead. I hope my review is read by the team as I would really like their comments. Saying all this would definitely stay there again
