Reviewed By RichardJenkinsThe Hampton Inn Front Royal is a very nice property. The room featured a fridge, microwave, HD TV with lots of channels (DIRECTV), free Wi-Fi and in-room safe. The complimentary breakfast was really good and included eggs (frittata), sausage patties, potatoes, cereal, oatmeal, waffles, bread, yoghurt, bananas and apples.

Reviewed By gparchWe had to change our room after staying one night due to a leak in the bathroom. The staff was very responsive, and they changed our room immediately upon hearing from us about the leak. The change to an adjoining room went smoothly. The quality of the rooms was average. We were disappointed by the cleanliness of the carpet and the furniture which were all badly stained. It was north of town so it takes a while to get to the downtown area but it is not that far away.

Reviewed By TrailsignI considered this review for awhile. The accommodations were clean and the breakfast servings were good. We enjoyed the conversations with the guests and owners. But the owners were insistent on full masking indoors. It did not matter that I already had had the virus, plus a vaccination. This requirement was unique among all the businesses and restaurants visited in Front Royal and neighboring towns, where no masking was required at all. If I were to return, I would need to confirm this requirement had been relaxed to a community level. Otherwise I found it to be a pleasant stay and would have given it a higher rating.

Nice older Property
Reviewed By StephenH845The staff was great, location was easy to access and property was clean & well maintained. The parking lot was easily viewed from the office for security. I love this park in front of your room type properties. The property is older so the room is smaller, especially the bathroom & shower (by "modern" standards). They are still using a physical key with only a knob lock & night latch. Heat/A/C is a "window unit" directly by the bed. The room had that older "musty" smell upon entry that quickly went unnoticed. The shower would suddenly turn hot for several seconds then go back to normal almost like it was timed, not random; being a smaller stall there was no way to get out of the stream. The bed was OK, almost felt like climbing into an old waterbed, but it wasn't sagging. The bed was noisy to move around in, but wasn't really uncomfortable. WiFi worked well.

Reviewed By harrygoldmanWe came expecting a clean retro 1940s well kept motel as other reviews noted. It was a significant letdown. It was worn, cramped and have an extremely pungent ethnic odor, both in the office and room. It was not clean or well kept 1940s. The room door have a 2'x 2.5' window in it with shower glass distortion contact paper on it. There was only a shear curtain over it blocking ZERO light. It was like having a light on ALL night in the room! The room had an overpowering pungent odor of ethnic cooking and incents. There were cob-webs over the bed in the corner, chipped and worn less than cheap builder grade vanity, less than novice hung toilet paper holder, scratch and worn sink, shower head was dirty and have 'green' buildup on it ... the list goes on.. also walls had sloppy, incomplete patchwork. Ugh. The owner/manager apologized as we were leaving offering to do better the next time, but that's not likely to happen. Very disappointed.

Reviewed By Elizabeth GWe knew this would be cheap and cheerful but had reasonable rewiews (no idea how) but it really was awful. Totally in need of refurbishment. The room had a stale smell and the bathroom was grubby. The sheets were clean otherwise would have turned around and gone elsewhere. Front Royal was a delight and would love to visit again but in a different hotel.
