Medieval convent walls of a former convent surround the property, art works of the region, fill it, and the incomparable site does the rest to lend this spot its inimitable character. Serenity and repose are everywhere you look, be it at the open fireplace, in the romantic terraced restaurant overlooking the Danube or the spacious, dreamlike convent gardens, which now play host to an idyllic heated swimming pool.
We had very nice stay with our 3 year old child. Our room overlooked garden and was very quiet. Pillows and beds are super comfortable Was very surprised to find working fireplace in the evening in the hall

A huge apartment in a gorgeous location in a quaint medieval village right on the Danube. It had everything we needed and more - complimentary fruit bowl, lots of fresh linen, all sorts of special touches etc. It is a perfect base for biking and sightseeing up and down the Danube. It is connected to the Durnstein Hotel Schloss so go and ask them for any help needed. We did not get the email telling us how to get into the apartment and it was good luck that the porter from the Hotel happened to turn up otherwise we would still be waiting outside! There are lots of stairs and things to trip over so only for agile and able bodied travellers.

We stayed here one night in October. It’s a cute old building but the rooms are modern and quiet enough to be comfortable. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed. The owner was kind and helpful. When we checked in she gave us good advice for hiking to the castle ruins and the restaurant in the woods, even sending us on our way with a map. The next day we were able to leave our luggage at reception after checkout to explore the town while we waited for our bus. When we checked out she looked up bus and train schedules to make sure we got back to Vienna with plenty of time. We booked our room with breakfast which was the typical European buffet spread. It was well-stocked with tasty food and we got our own pot of excellent coffee.

The Gartenhotel & Winery Pfeffel in Durnstein. Your hotel between vineyards and the Danube in the very heart of the Wachau valley! The steep mountain terraces at which in the autumn the golden Riesling gleams, the picturesque beautiful Danube, on which the ships find their way through the Wachau valley and the hidden small villages with its numerous "Heurigen" invite you to spend more time in this fantastic landscape.
We stayed here for 2 days as a getaway from Vienna. The hotel is located 15 minutes walk from the centre of Durnstein, along a major rural road with a narrow pavement. Nevertheless, the views from the hotel are spectacular and provide a lovely view of the landscape around. The staff are helpful and the reception and hotel waiting staff are very good; however, there is a lot about the decor that needs updating, it feels dated and the rooms do not belong in a 4* hotel, basic and lacking a bit of finesse and charm. Thankfully the surroundings are so beautiful and the quality of wine and food at the hotel more than compensate with a great selection of wines from the hotel's vineyard, which are really well explained by the restaurant staff. The fact the hotel had been fully booked since May 2020 is a testament to how good a reputation the hotel has built up over the years. The sauna facilities and pool on the top floor are excellent, with four different types of steam and sauna and changing facilities, some of which provide views onto the surrounding area while one is sweating it out. There is a comfortable family feel to the hotel and I am sure would be idyllic on sunny days.

The Best Wurstsalat I've had in a long time. Traditional Austrian cuisine is fantastic almost everywhere, so the bar is already set high. I love how the Austrians make food with love. The atmosphere is friendly and casual. We stopped on our bike trip from Linz to Vienna. A definite highlight.

the pension is family owned and managed, very friendly and helpful, knowing lots of details about the area. Try the homemade products (apricot jam, wine !!). Located in the center of the Wachau most of the sites (Melk Abbey, Krems, Duernstein, etc.) are near.
