The King’s Arms in Dorchester has recently been completely refurbished. It’s a very special place, famed for its literary links to Thomas Hardy. Beautiful decor throughout and delicious food and drinks served all day every day.
Lovely ‘Inn’. Generous room size with large en-suite with great walk-in shower. Parking was easy and location dead in the Centre of town. Dinner menu was interesting but more (straight forward) options would be good.

Far from the madding crowd, but near to all the delights of Dorset, the Premier Inn Hotel Dorchester puts you in the heart of Thomas Hardy country. In the historic town's new Brewery Square development, you'll have business, leisure and heritage right on your doorstep. You could set sail at Olympic watersports venue Weymouth and Portland. Or hang out with the kings of the swingers at Monkey World. And if it's the right time of year, fire up your engine at the Great Dorset Steam Fair. Then retreat to our stylish restaurant, spacious rooms and extra comfy beds. *Please note that there are limited car parking spaces at the hotel, however there is also nearby public car parking.
This Premier Inn is in a great location for a visit to Dorchester. Great food at a reasonable price, clean room and great service. Lots to see in the area, leaflets of where to go are provided. Great market on a Wednesday.

Once a year I use my Beest Western points to give me and my husband a free night or two for our wedding anniversary. Th Wessex Royal Hotel gave us a suite which was wonderful. It was huge and really well fitted out with modern features - excellent bathroom, USB chargers in the wall, two TVs, it was perfect. We could see that the hotel is carrying out refurbishment works, and it feels really well looked after. It was a great couple of days :)

Awarded Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence 2012 this is Dorset's Dining Pub of the Year twice in the past three years. Handsome 18th century coaching inn in one of England's prettiest villages, full of thatched cottages with a trout stream running through. Mentioned in Thomas Hardy's novels and the setting for Hollywood films of his work.Six newly refurbished bedrooms, dvds, ipod docks, proper pillows and duvets, wellies for bad weather and an award winning restaurant just across the car park from our stable block rooms.Families positively welcomed and we'll make you something to eat no matter what time you arrive.
Everything about our group visit just for dinner was excellent - from booking to leaving. The food was delicious and plentiful. The staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive - and the recognition of multiple birthdays was exceptional and appreciated. Unfortunately, we'll probably never be repeat customers as we aren't local (were staying locally) - but will definitely visit again if in the area.

The Duchess of Cornwall Inn recently opened in the town of Poundbury, just outside Dorchester, offering a Bar, Restaurant & Bedrooms. Within The Duchess of Cornwall Inn you will find different areas which evoke a country house. The ground floor hosts our Pantry and Bar evoking a casual, drop-in, pot luck ethos, the Dining Room on the second floor focuses on classically simple British food, reliable standard dishes that everyone wants to eat, not an elaborate restaurant. To top it all there are 3 floors of stunning bedrooms, due to open in early December 2016, representing two themes of Georgian England; Gentility (Jane Austen) and Mercantilism (Charles Hall, our founder).
Stayed for 3 nights recently at this impressive looking Inn. It is set within Poundbury, which in itself is a curious and interesting place to visit. Payed for a luxury room. In my mind a room described as one of luxury would fulfil that description by being kitted out in a luxurious way. The room was comfortable and decent but it wasn't luxurious. The bed itself was fairly comfortable. We moved it away from the wall itself as it squeaked fiercely against the wooden board behind it. The arm chairs were fairly comfortable but set at an odd angle under the eaves, which meant that you were in danger of knocking your head every time you stood up from them. The arrangement of chairs, coffee table, desk and freestanding light also meant that it was a tricky negotiation to the bedroom window, although the window was set so high that unless you stood looking out there was no view. For two people for three days there was only just enough storage and it was all based in one wardrobe at one end of the room with a bit of tight squeeze to open the doors and drawers beside the bed. The bathroom appeared spacious but the layout was so strange that only a very small portion of it was used and it didn't feel that spacious in the end. Very sadly there was no window at all in the bathroom. Toiletries were all fine, but again not luxurious. The breakfasts were fantastic and were served in a timely manner. The dining room is really light and airy and a lovely place to eat. We did eat dinner there too and although the food was good, it was desperately slow arriving. The staff were polite and helpful and a credit to the place. There was a nice friendly atmosphere and I think this place could be outstanding with a few small tweaks here and there.

The Junction offers great friendly efficient service in a real pub This is a good standard pub selling all the usual foods drinks and activities; but that was exactly what we wanted that night As an example of hospitality going the extra mile we were allowed to move a few tables to accommodate a large group which helped make our night ( part of a Army reunion) really enjoyable as we were able to all eat and drink in the same area Thank-you the Junction!!!

The room me and my wife booked for two nights was not what we were expected, not clean and the furniture was very old. But the real problem is that second night we had no hot water and because downstairs is a pub and music played very loud we had no chance to fell asleep till the dj finished his job around 1AM. Awful place. I'll never visit that house again and advise everyone to avoid it. Thank you

First visit to this pub looking for something to eat and drink and it was delightful, we ordered fish n chips at £9.50 pp and it was super, the meal was quite substantial and the fish batter was crisp and light. The pub is tastefully furnished and clean, although it's a little more expensive than Weatherspoons it's really worthwhile to sit in a venue that's not over crowded and has available tables for you to eat or drink. Worth a visit.
