On the shores of enchanting Kandalama Lake, discover a lifestyle defined by tradition and natural splendour. Nestled amid 40 acres of lush forest, Amaya Lake preserves the aura of local historical treasures, creating a feeling of old-world Sri Lankan charm matched with modern luxury. Located in the heart of Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle, the resort is the ideal base for exploring nearby wonders such as the ancient city of Anuradhapura and the Dambulla cave temples.

Heritance Kandalama is shaped like the outspread wings of a bird, following the line of the cliff from which it seems to emerge. The hotel is a staggering 1km from end to end, and rises up seven floors, yet appears to be a perfectly natural extension of the mountainside. The flat roof and timber pillars support a screen of vegetation that attracts local wildlife. The abundance of real-life animals around the hotel is complemented by wonderful large-scale sculptures within it. A metal owl is suspended outside the main restaurant; wooden elephants inhabit the lounge; a stone cobra uncoils along the terrace overlooking the infinity pool. However, while focusing on highlighting its enchanting natural surroundings, our luxury resort in Sri Lanka gives priority to providing its guests with the finest comforts and service.
The best stay I had after a long time, where every moment was above expectations, it was our honeymoon where we stayed for 2 nights. Starting from check in , restaurant and all staff overall were excellent. Indunil at Front Desk was exceptional and always smiling, welcoming and made sure every moment of our stay was taken care. I will definitely visit again when I come back to Sri Lanka. Heritance Kandalama can be a role model for service, the location and views are perfect and love this eco friendly location.

Without a doubt one of our favorite hotels, we stayed around Kandalama. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the staff and especially Mr.Chinthaka who is a very friendly and kind person who always cared about our needs. The staff was extremely friendly, the restaurant very flexible (appreciate this!) and again a special thanks should go to Mr.Chinthaka who arrange all the beautiful stuff including our anniversary celebration with a one single phone call. We had great evenings here, which obviously also added up to the experience. Note, this is not a 4/5-star hotel or so, but the atmosphere is so special that it really felt like home to us. The Architecture and the suites are very unique and super experience in Sri Lanka. Thank you!

Conveniently located within the cultural triangle of ancient Sri Lanka, the best place to spend in tranquility is our fully refurbished ‘Rangiri Dambulla Resort’, situated in the shadows of the famous Dambulla Cave Temple built by King ValagamBahu.

I hate writing bad reviews as I’m aware the impact it can have on the hotel however I do not want anyone else to go through what we have been through. the pictures that the hotel have posted on booking.com are very misleading. firstly we arrived and was informed that during the power cuts they won’t have a generator. this is a four star hotel they should have one. our room wasn’t ready when we arrived and they asked if we would like to sit by the pool. all of what I could describe what we were greeted with was a swap. how they could recommend anyone to swim in that pool is unsafe. it was green, couldn’t see the bottom of the pool. we were taken to a sitting area which looked like it hasn’t been be cleaned in months or years. I felt so uncomfortable I couldn’t sit there. we were then taken to our room. to get there you have to go up many flights of stairs and it more looks like a apartment block. in the room the TV didn’t work. When we walked in the room was really hot and thought this was because the door had been left open. how wrong was we. the Air Con did not work and we didn’t sleep at all. when the power cut was on we were given a candle for the room. to be honest I thought this was very dangerous for all hotel guests to be left with a candle in their room. when it came to dinner there was only two choices and decided not to eat there. due to our experience we decided not have breakfast and left as quickly as possible. this is not a four star hotel. it’s more a home stay.

It’s a mere 4 hour drive from Colombo, hidden away within the beautiful village of Kalundewa in the historic town of Dambulla. As you drive in through the narrow footpath unwinding at its entrance, the reception area greets you with its strikingly open structure made possible with a blend of wood, steel and glass. Facing the reception is the lake and the wooden platform reaching out into the calm waters surrounded by Kumbuk trees, sit in the lounge and take in the picturesque lake nestling cozily amongst a ring of mountains listening to the soft musical bird-songs.
This is the perfect place for a nature lover. We lived in floating villa (Nil Manel) which was no doubt one of the best experience so far. Outstanding hospitality and super tasty Food. The staff goes way beyond to serve you. They arranged a floating breakfast in the boat for us which was one of the best experience ?
