Small room, good location
Reviewed By Franki197307The Hotel is located in the center. So location wise excellent. the room was on the small side and not even a small fridge to keep things. the staff was nice and helpful. Parking was fairly easy at the door.

All the staff and especially the reception staff was exceptional… beyond our expectations.. They were extremely accommodating, helpful and most kind!!! I cannot say enough about how impressed we were with Chais Monnet and would return without hesitation.. My husband and I were so impressed with all that the hotel offers.. The restaurants were exceptional with efficient service and staff.. When we departed really early morning they had a bagged breakfast for the two of us and made us coffee.. Again, so impressed.. Reviewed By Travel04741644207We've been staying here for many years as a half way stop off when travelling back to the UK. They are always very friendly and dogs are welcome too. It's in a great location and within walking distance of Cognac Centre. Plenty of good restaurants to eat nearby too.

Wonderful Hotel - Great location
Reviewed By greatravels1We only got to enjoy this hotel for 2 nights, but we really loved our stay. The location is very central to everything, the restaurants, the pedestrian area and the Cognac houses. We loved our room on the third floor. It was very nice size, with comfortable hard beds and wonderful shower. There is a nice bar attached to the hotel, and also a nice spa (which we did not get a chance to experience), and a small fitness room. They have 2 different breakfast plans. Small breakfast (hot drink and pastries) for 9 Euros, and full buffet breakfast for 19 Euros. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating, especially Garry, who spoke excellent English and was very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return to Cognac and this hotel.

Well organised for Covid-19 distancing, including in the breakfast room where an excellent self=service breakfast was provided. Absolutely lovely pool - so refreshing on a hot afternoon. Reasonable stroll into central Cognac.

Absolutely amazing stay for 4 nights
Reviewed By lemxWow. What an experience the heritage is! The hotel has been recently renovated to a very high standard and has everything you would ever need. The reception was very well handled and all of the staff have been absolutely wonderful. A special mention to Louise, sarah and carla who were just the best! Nothing was ever too much for us all considering we were with a huge party of family attending a wedding. The room we had was an accessibility room, decent sized but may be a struggle with a wheelchair but table could be moved if needed. The bed was sublime! I have never slept so well and huge! The shower was excellent, although we did have an issue with water leaking into the bedroom but both the cleaners who were excellent (saline and nadia) sorted the issue straight away. The breakfast was lovely, did have to get down there early to get a cooked breakfast though as the hot food isn't replenished. Fresh bread and pastries however were plentiful and delicious. The tv in the room we had wasn't great for english channels but we were hardly in the room so not much of an issue. The bar is always open for whatever you need. The location of the hotel is simply perfect as it is close to the main areas and close to the stunning park. We didn't go to the restaurant but heard very good things about the food so well worth a try! We will hope to return as a couple in the future and look forward to it very much! Reviewed By TedY711A 2 night stay, Facilities, Parking extra, Breakfast expensive and plastic, cheap yoghurt, frozen mini croissants etc WiFi only allows one device at a time ... We came back from a restaurant at 10:30 to find the public area closed, no bar, no reception staff. The Room Too hot water temperature was scalding the shower was a simple mixer that fluctuated from freezing to scalding The toilet/WC would not flush waste away The Toilet paper dispenser was not properly set up, we used our travelling spare after lugging it around for four years There was a light on the TV that could not be turned off The Quilt was too heavy and the ultimate sin ... tucked in!

Authentic Stay in Charante country!
Reviewed By elainetarvenWe have just returned home from a week's stay at Gites de Brives. We had the larger property for the 3 of us and enjoyed the space, British TV and best of all the lovely, clean, well kept pool. We also enjoyed the peace and quiet, lovely countryside, vineyards and bird song. We also enjoyed some spectacular sunsets and Oliver, our 10 year old son, enjoyed making friends and playing football and boules in the long summer evenings. Phil and Glyn are very friendly hosts and were very agreeable at answering our questions about the surrounding area. During our week's stay we visited Royan and the Cotes Sauvage ( the latter well worth a visit), Cognac for lunch by the river and a tour of Remy Martin, plus a visit to one of the smaller distilleries near Jonzac. La Rochelle was a real jewel in the crown as well as the medieval village of Pons. We also visited the Antilles indoor and outdoor water complex ( very like Centre Parcs). There is so much to do in this area that we couldn't possibly do it in just one visit. We also enjoyed several bbqs back at our gite and just sitting outside after a day touring. Thank you for a lovely stay.
