Encircled by medieval walls, Canterbury is doused in history. In the Middle Ages, Canterbury’s pilgrimage-site status made it the setting of Chaucer’s seminal "Canterbury Tales," while today, cobbled streets and the 6th-century Canterbury Cathedral secure this city as one of England’s must-visit destinations.

A wonderful place to stay with great views and access to the cathedral. Very clean, and the area is beautiful. Parking on the grounds was great and convenient, but access to the parking is not marked and was a bit hard to find. Room was nice, and comfortable. Breakfast was outstanding, and in a pleasant room. Nice location to walk around Canterbury and plenty of dinner spots nearby. Very friendly staff.

Just metres from Canterbury's medieval West Gate, this charming building dates back to 1403. A former coaching inn, it offers free WiFi and free parking, 2 minutes' walk from the city centre. The Falstaff still retains many original features, including oak beams and an open log fire. Each room has a TV for guests to use, and facilities for making tea and coffee. The hotel offers a cooked to order full English breakfast as well as self service buffet option. The bar offers a range of wines and variety of exclusive cocktails. Canterbury West Rail Station is a 3-minute walk from the building. The city's spectacular Norman cathedral can be reached in less than 10 minutes on foot.
We have visited a number of times now. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast menu, cooked to order although lighter breakfasts are still available. Parts of the hotel including rooms had been renovated since we last stayed a few years ago. Competitively priced food and drink. One tiny gripe is having to pay for parking but to be fair we knew that when we booked, maybe this is the way most hotels in built up areas are heading.

Country House Hotel in superb setting.Easy access to Canterbury
Very nice hotel in Chartham great access to Canterbury and indeed rest of Kent. Well kept grounds and lovely garden areas to sit out in. Can recommend room 8 or 15 as our party used both. Staff very friendly and efficient . Hotel was very clean and tidy both rooms and public areas appeared well maintained. Very well priced. Food in restaurant was good and reasonable cost arrived pipping hot and tasted very nice. Breakfast was standard buffet for cereals - juice toast etc and hot options available to order ( portions not huge but very nice - full cooked was bacon 1 sausage 1 hash brown tomato an egg and portion of beans plus a flat mushroom I opted for no mushroom personal thing and would have liked a second sausage black pudding and another egg but then I like a big breakfast light lunch - so probably fine for most others). Plenty of free on site parking.

With its central location, within the ancient city walls and only minutes away from Canterbury Cathedral (a World Heritage Site), ABode Canterbury is the perfect base to explore this historic city. Individually designed bedrooms, contemporary bathrooms and a warm welcome are waiting. Enjoy fine dining in The County Restaurant, contemporary pub food in the The Old Brewery Tavern, or relax with a drink in hand in our Champagne Bar.
Lovely, historic hotel in the center of Canterbury on a pedestrian street in mid-May for a long overdue visit to Kent, England. The Abode lived up to my expectations, and my travel agent's advise to stay there. Breakfast was included in the room rate, and it was delicious.

All bedrooms are ensuite, and have Freeview tv channels, flat screen tvs, free fibre optic wi-fi, and welcome trays. The double rooms all have kingsize beds. Family rooms are available. Facilities include a large free carpark, Henry's Bar, the sun terrace and gardens. Two bedroomed serviced apartments located in the hotel grounds are also available. Self-catering cottages are available on weekly lets.
Great place to stay, very convenient for City Centre about 15 minutes walk away. We stayed in Cottage 6 which is a two bed , one bathroom with small kitchen and lounge/ dining area . Friendly check in. Parking is at front or side of hotel and cottages . I have rated this 5*because it was ideal for what we needed and a reasonable price . Two large hot tubs outside for guests use . Good WIFI. Only negatives are that the cottage is showing signs or wear and tear ( although very clean) and when four are using the bathroom the condensation doesn’t clear and can make the floors slippy . The beds are quite hard and we would recommend that mattress toppers would be advantageous !

Vicky is a wonderful host in her lovely property. The location has on site parking and is still an easy walk to the centre of Canterbury. The breakfast room was light and airy with great service and good food. Our room and bathroom were spacious, comfortable and clean. It was a delight to stay at Yorke Lodge.

Hospitality was beyond expectations! Our room was in the back of the hotel and very quiet, overlooking the courtyard, which we used to enjoy takeaway dinner. Soda and still water available anytime self-serve. The location is central and we were able to drop our luggage off early to go explore before our room was ready. Breakfast was offered in-room or in the dining area (toast, cereal, yogurt, fruit, coffee, tea...). Great place. Hot pot in the room with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits.

We travelled as a group of 6, taking up three of the rooms (1, 3 & 5), we were greeted by Stuart who provided a great run down of the Lodge, its grounds and local places to eat including a map and directions. All of the rooms were well sized and had drink and TV facilities, everyone agreed the beds and rooms were comfortable and we all settled well. As a group we enjoy playing cards and board games so the large table outside was perfect for in the daytime and Stuart was happy to let us use the shared breakfast room later in the evening which we particularly appreciated. Whilst we did have three of the rooms we did not take up all of them however we were never interrupted or disturbed by the other guests and there was plenty of parking on site for all of our cars. Breakfast was great and all served hot and correct (6 people all wanting different combinations is sometimes a problem), and again even though there were other guests this did not delay our food and it was all served in a very reasonable time. You can tell great amount of time, effort and pride has been poured into the lodge and the results are amazing, it is now top on our list for any return trips to Canterbury or the local area.

Ideally located within walking distance of the historic sights of this stunning cathedral city and Canterbury East train station, our Canterbury hotel features our new generation bedrooms, each with a freshly-updated bathroom with large shower head, and a brand new, slumber-inducing, king-size Hypnos bed. After a great night's sleep, head out and discover the impressive Canterbury Cathedral, St Augustine's Abbey and St Martin's Church (an UNESCO World Heritage Site, no less) or enjoy a little punting on the River Stour. Nearby shopping areas include the King's Mile and Whitefriars Canterbury.
If you looking for a budget hotel, this is the place. We wanted to stay one night in Canterbury and wanted a cheap room. It is within 5mins to the main road and the city centre , regarding parking I found FREE parking in St Augustine road from 4pm-9am - result and it’s only 5mins away the other side ! It’s has a Waitrose and a Tesco metro underneath which can get busy as the college is nearby . I had two issues which was dealt with promptly - one we had to ask for more tea bags - they gave me loads at reception and the room was cold and set to fan , they switch led it to heat and my room was at the temperature I wanted. One bug was that the reception was unmanned occasionally and queues formed they should be a bell to alert other staff .
