This hostal is like staying in someone’s house and was a good choice. No English spoken, but we managed to communicate somehow! Lovely staff, everywhere very clean. A beautiful, small pool which you had to yourself by booking your one hour slot. Roof terrace with great views. Pleasant walk downhill to town, easy to get a taxi back if you are feeling lazy like we were. We chose Caldera over Bahia Inglesa because of the price. It worked out well as we could get a taxi for 3000 pesos to the beach and restaurants at Bahia and the hostal was much nicer than any we saw at the Bahia.

Friendly staff and good location. No hot water in the morning, but breakfast was good. Price to quality ratio ok. Parking a motorcycle inside the gates wasn't a problem. The place was quite empty when I visited.

Ckamur is an ethnic building which wants to rescue the pre-Hispanic past of Caldera Port and its surroundings, whose construction made of reinforced quincha, with cane and wooden partitions, provides unique conditions for thermal stability and seismic resistance. The quincha is an aboriginal constructive method of Atacama which uses natural materials from this region: it consists of brea canes of our rivers, coated by a mixture of mud and straw. Selected materials and aboriginal objects, made by local craftsmen, dress each apartment to evoke that native legacy and learn about it: clay of the Diaguitas, wood of Atacama, weavings of the Collas, reeds and canes of Totoral. Ckamur is aimed at ethnotourism, by showing guests the archaeological patrimony of the region of Atacama through its facilities, but also by visiting the ancestors’ vestiges on field, guided by qualified local staff with vast experience and knowledge of the patrimony of Atacama.
If you want a place to just chill, which has a lovely view, short walks to the ocean, places to explore, and a peaceful and warm host, you need look no further than the Hospedaje Ckamur and Rodrigo. My wife and I read books, talked, walked, and relaxed after just 3 days here. But if you have more time than us, I can promise you will enjoy every nearly-unplugged minute of your stay!

I wouldn't visit this place ever again. The receptionist was terrible, he barely paid attention to us and once we finally got his attention he replied in a very unfriendly way so we just left. He never even offered an alternative and just ignored us until we basically left. We had already booked a room there, so it wasn't as if we just arrives out of the blue. So to me it was very disappointing as I came all the way with my family. We are NEVER going back to this place. It gave us a terrible first impression. Don't go there. There are better places in Caldera.

We stayed here for two days but couldnt get much sleep since we heard EVERY sound/noise from hallway and kitchen from our room. As i'm writing this I have unwittingly overheard an entire conversation from the hallway. In general hotel is decent and will suffice for a short stay.

Don't be put off by the exterior as inside the hotel is very nice with secure parking. We had a large room with comfortable bed, ensuite, dining table, breakfast was brought to our room, kettle and fridge. It was a short walk into town to have a meal, go to the bank, post office and large supermarket. Our room was cleaned daily. Good value for money. Short drive to Bahia Inglesa. Interesting rock formations to the North on Ruta 5.

This place was a fairly short walk from the bus station and across the street from a large supermarket. The woman at the front desk was very nice and seemed to want to help us. One day she even offered to bring someone from across the street I think. We did manage to find an area with some restaurants and pretty good food, but it was all very confusing. I think it would be helpful if they had a map for visitors showing nearby restaurants etc I also think it was a little overpriced for what you got

It's a family run hostel. It's new and it was clean. Double bed with en suite bathroom with hot water. The host was great and surely went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable. I was there with my parents that come visiting. He was so kind to drive us a couple of time to Bahia Inglesa where there is are very good restaurants. My room was upstairs and had a windows. I think it can be a bit hot in the summer due to the ceiling. There are some downstairs bedroom that looks to be a bit too cool in winter but can be great in the summer. I think some of the dont have much sunlight available but I just seen them quickly. Wifi is available and it was average speed, there was many people logged in as it was a holiday season. I didnt need to stream anything so I cant comment on that.
