A solid good night's stay

First time for everything, right? So this was my first visit to Essex, and Basildon. I was attending Creamfields South music festival, and this hotel was the best value when researching for a place to stay. Location: Finding the hotel was a little difficult, as it's down a back alleyway and a construction site is next door (expect potholes on the road), and located next to the road with a few trees blocking out the noise from other cars. Hotel wise, it was great. There's no lifts at the hotel, and all the rooms on the ground floor are for accessible use. There is a ramp as well as stairs to access the hotel, as well as free parking for those staying overnight. Also, the hotel is about a 5 min walk to a nearby leisure complex which features a Hollywood Bowl, Frankie + Benny's, Pizza Hut, Bella Italia, etc. Hotel: Found it weird that the room numbers go from 1-20 on the ground floor, yet jump to 101 / 201 / 301 for the floors. Room wise, it was comfortable. Temperature, bathroom and overall size was great for a solo traveller like me. Could have had a plug socket near the bedside table though for easy charging of mobile devices. Hotel Staff: Staff were friendly and helpful. I didn't have food at the hotel, as I was out most of the day at the festival. Overall, a great stay and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area for a trip / short break.

Rude staff.

Reviewed By S3392AInathant

Not one to leave reviews but this hotel and one particular staff member was an absolute disgrace. Myself and friends booked 2 rooms here for 5 people over the weekend of Creamfields South. When checking in at around 8pm we were met with an extremely rude “staff member” (if you can call her that) named “Elaine” who dealt with us in an extremely rude manner, she spoke over us and ignored us. After telling her of our two rooms she raised her voice saying “Let me deal with this one thanks” She then proceeded to block us from having an visitors in our room (Despite them claiming this was allowed between the hours of 10am - 10pm). Throughout the entire duration of our stay she deliberately went out of her way to ensure our time staying here was as uncomfortable as possible. Including on TWO separate occasions where she followed us out of the hotel premises. The first occasion on check in night (Thursday) she later followed one of our group members outside to give him a row, where she raised her voice and shouted at him ordering him to leave the premesis (despite him not being on them) . (We have voice recordings of this). And again on Saturday morning she followed our entire group outside to our taxi to again shout at us, completely unprovoked as we left the building. When later challenging “Elaine” on her extremely rude, unprovoked behaviour she completely disregarded our comments and complaints and continued to shout and ignore us (again we have voice recordings of this). She told us raise our complaints with her manager who was allegedly in the following day, there was no sign of any manager throughout the entire duration of our stay, hence why I feel the need to leave a review. I would say though her colleague who’s name we didn’t get (Taller, long brown hair) was particularly nice, and attended to our issues when necessary. Should also note she offered an apology for issues and her colleagues disgraceful behaviour. All in all wouldn’t have a bad word to say about her. As for Elaine, I’ve never encountered someone so rude. A very nasty, horrible lady who did everything in her power to attempt to ruin our stay.

Not what you would expect out of a Holiday Inn. Compared to the other one I have stayed in, this is below par. Bathroom is very small. The carpet in the room had stains. Room looks old, needs a refurb in my opinion. For the price, you would expect a typical holiday Inn. This one cannot be compared to the other ones.

Family get together

Went with sister and brother in law to have a family reunion with our large families who live down south So we chose this hotel being the nearest to everyone Have stayed in the premier inn on numerous occasions in different locations The welcome was fantastic from the reception staff the ground floor room no 8 was large and very clean had everything that I needed My sister nd her husband had a room on the second floor 104 so a bit apart but didn’t make no difference Breakfast was great in the next door beefeaters so again not to far to go Had a stay for three days The room consisted of a bath and a over head shower Which is where it all went dangerously wrong ! I decided to have a bath instead of a shower which was a lovely soak found it was a rather deep bath Only when I tried to get out of the bath found to my horror that it read so so slippery I just couldn’t get out of it …. had taken a rather bad fall back in it in which I had badly bruised my arm and had twisted my thumb when grabbing the handles on the bath And before any one says I had used to much soap I didn’t. !! The reason was that I went for a soak then to get up to have a shower then I would of used the shower gel but didn’t get chance to do that ! Only then I emptied the bath water an filled it with towels I could get a grip to get myself out of it I wouldn’t like to think of another person who was staying there by themselves happen to them like it did for me I would say it was a frightening experience to be alone and had a bad fall with no means of getting any type of help The staff was lovely when I told them and had to write out a account of what happened for the health and safety team I did say that the bath grip had worn away inside the bath and maybe a handle on the wall would be a help I did notice that them big taps on the bath well rather loose maybe that’s how people were using to getting up out if the bath Something for the guys in premier inn to look at It just wasn’t my room where the is no grip inside the bath because it happen to my sister but luckily enough she had her husband to help her out the bath So please be careful when getting in and out of them baths ask for a rubber mat Which I never got told till after I had the accident that they have them but have to ask for them !! But premier inn is a lovely hotel and the beds do give you a perfect sleep just a shame that the safety in the bathrooms aren’t up to standard!!

Stay for work nearby

Reviewed By Tom1969H

I stayed here for a week recently. I enjoyed meeting the host and we had some interesting conversations. The location was handy for my work and also for Basildon centre, train station etc. It was good to have the use of the kitchen to avoid having to get takeaway food. There was plenty of free parking nearby.
