We emailed this hotel asking for reservations and requesting a table for dinner for the night before we left Bordeaux. When we received no response to our email, we made a reservation through an agency which was confirmed on September 30th. We found the hotel on October 4th as scheduled but no one was there! We discovered an envelope with our name and keys to the hotel and our room stuck between some window bars at the side of the hotel. We felt quite bold opening the door and eventually finding our room. The room was fine, clean and complete. No WiFi! We sat around waiting for someone to show up. We had some wine (which we had carried with us ) and used plastic glasses we discovered in the bathroom. We waited from 2.30pm until 6.00pm and when no turned up, we decided to leave and find.an Hotel which had a dining room open. We drove to Arcachon about an hour away and were fortunate to find accommodation in Hotel Le B where we have stayed before. We checked email and discovered a message from the hotel which had been sent at 12.25pm same day. We had checked email before we left Blaye that morning. The email sent about a week after ours was sent, said that the dining room was closed. We used this hotel because of the great write-ups from a TripAdviser respondent. Everyone else should beware!

If you’re looking for a romantic bed and breakfast in Ares, look no further than La Louisiane. La Louisiane is a romantic bed and breakfast offering a flat screen TV and a refrigerator in the rooms, and it is easy to stay connected during your stay as free internet access is offered to guests. While visiting Ares, you may want to try some oyster at one of the nearby restaurants, such as Chez Pépé or Cabane 44. Should time allow, Ovniport and Femme Oceane are some popular attractions that are within walking distance. The staff at La Louisiane looks forward to serving you during your upcoming visit.
The good - lovely host - quiet location - it was winter but I can see that in summer there must be a lovely pool and garden - good location although not walking distance to town - nespresso/ tea in room Not so good - I had booked a suite with 2 separate rooms. The single room is at the front and is small and sparse. Curtains don't close well. There is a lack of privacy as other guests walk past and light comes through. The second room is large but has no windows. It is dark and not cozy. The bathroom is big. No bath products at all, only some shower gel but not even soap. You need to walk through 2 nd room to get to bathroom - breakfast is a typical French affair of baguette and croissant. I don't like either but ate some baguette and yoghurt. Coffee was good - when we left I was told I needed to pay 35 E for extra bed. I was confused as I had booked a 2 bed suite on booking. com so why was I asked to pay more. The host was friendly about it and I didn't pay but I was not happy I was asked. This is not a bad place and price was ok but not sure I would stay again.

On the bassin Arcachon, located in a very quiet and recent residential area of Ares, between Arcachon and Cap Ferret, close Andernos, our bed and breakfast has 5 attractive personalized rooms, brand new, with private shower, washbasin, toilet and Wi-Fi . For your comfort, a semi-covered heated pool in season. Many trails, including the coastal makes you discover Ares Nature Reserve salt meadows or Saint Brice conch (protected site) and makes you go around the pond in communion with nature. Not to mention, the Ares swimming beach close to the shores of Saint-Brice - 2 kms or ocean - 9 kms.
We stayed for 3 nights in June in the separate room facing the pool. The owners were amazingly friendly, breakfasts were first class and atmospheric and although the accommodation was smallish it was perfect for us. We made good use of the pool as the weather was very hot. Cap Ferret and L'Herbe were delightful (though Ares has little to offer in comparison). We would absolutely love to stay here again if we were to visit this part of France. Merci beaucoup!!

We, a family of 6, stopped here for three nights in our caravan. The site has a quiet rural setting, but fairly close the town of Ares. The site owners were very helpful and friendly and the kids loved the pool area. It was a welcome change from the massive commercial sites that are dotted around and was well placed to explore the area.................we actually felt like we were in France and thoroughly enjoyed this quiet and friendly site.

Then look no further than Ovniport (0.3 mi) and Femme Oceane (0.5 mi), which are some popular Ares attractions – all conveniently located within walking distance of the small hotel. Enjoy your stay in Ares!
A delightful **Hotel that we came across because 1. The time of day and 2. we hadn't booked anything in advance on our way south, so we were lucky to get the last room. The hotel has been decorated very tastefully and very neat - there is a lot of pride here - the hostess Anne was more than helpful and nothing was a problem. We were able to use their shed to put the motorbike out of the impending rain and all in all very obliging. The hotel is in the bay in Ares and a nice walk to several interesting seafood restaurants in the little fishing port. The breakfast was the regular continental breakfast, value for money in peak season. I would return again if we were in the area. Ann & John Sydney Australia

The site is rated as 4 Star, but it is definitely not. The well traveled campers on site while we were there all agreed. Reception hours are seldom, there was one polite young lady who checked us in on a Tuesday, other than her, staff were rude and expect you to have perfect French. The Showers are tiny, bar one, and if you can get in them they don’t work and we’re not cleaned. The same spider was hanging on its web in the Same shower for 13 days. The pitch water tap drains are blocked with pine needles and debris and smell. The pool was out of action for the first 4 days of our stay and the Chemical toilet location is a shocker, in the corner within the toilet block. The soap dispenser above the sink next to this where you wash your hands afterwards was empty for the 13 days. The bar never seems to open day or night unless the staff are entertaining their friends with a private soirée. And finally to cap it off, we had booked and paid for 2 pitches for our friends and ourselves for 20 nights, but after receiving the news that my Dad had suddenly passed away, we immediately left at 5am on the 13th day of our stay to head home, leaving our friends to stay on. They went to reception this morning to explain why we had left and asked if we could be refunded the 7 nights we missed. They were told, sorry, try claiming on your travel insurance! Lovely. Avoid at all costs.

This place is uninhabitable. A tenement, not a vacation. That living situation is gross and unsafe. A tent would be preferable. Seriously, this place is the pits. I would not recommend it to any one. Beware.

We have just spent 3 days in this small campsite. Everything was perfect: home, pool, bungalow ... The sites a little tight but the ideal location for sightseeing around the Arcachon basin and to enjoy the beautiful beach of Arès.

What a wonderful campsite right next to the sea and a lagoon. Beautiful sunsets. Great to to the tide rise and fall. Clean facilities and super friendly and helpful staff. The pool is fantastic after a long hot day by the beach or hiking in the area.
