We were lucky enough to stay at the Vaoto Lodge for two blissful nights at the end of May. We are national park explorers and we traveled from Columbus, Ohio to visit the National Park. If you are traveling to American Samoa and are wondering if it is worth it to travel to Ofu—do it! Simply, Ofu is an island paradise like nothing else in the world. Deb and Ben were amazing, kind, and thoughtful hosts. They greeted us as we got off the plane and gave us a nice orientation to the lodge. They also gave us a tour of the island road in their truck and told us all the hints about what areas to explore, walk, and snorkel. Also, they gave us a ride to the Tumu Mountain hiking trailhead and picked us up when we were done. We bought dinner and breakfast from Deb and Ben while we were there and it was delicious (best food we had in American Samoa), breadfruit was phenomenal. The lodge and room were perfect. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was great. There was a fan which made it absolutely comfortable to sleep at night. The grounds were breathtaking. You could tell so much love and attention was paid to everything. They also had bikes and snorkel gear that we used. Friendly dogs and cats were also on the property. Also, free wi-fi in the main lodge area worked well. We were lucky to stay there while the Marine Biology students from the community college on Tutuila were there studying the island. They invited us to a presentation one evening were their awesome teacher gave a great talk on marine wildlife and the science of studying the wildlife. We enjoyed talking to the students and teachers, it was such a great time. It took some work to figure out how to get there, here’s some tips: 1) Read and study the Vaoto Lodge website FAQ. It answers pretty much every question and gives you a nice flow chart on the order to make reservations. 2) look at the Vaoto lodge Facebook page. Their social media manager Terry gives updates on everything, including any new flight schedules. Thank you so much for all your work Terry, you helped us figure out how to smoothly get to Ofu! 4) We e-mailed Deb and Ben to book the lodging and they responded promptly and we were able to reserve our nights. E-mail was a great way to communicate with them. 3) We emailed Stanley with Samoa Airways to book our flight from Pago Pago to Ofu. He responded quickly and we sent payment via email credit card form. Thank you for sharing your beautiful piece of paradise with us, Karen & Nick

We are a boutique accommodation offering lodge type accommodations on a 5 acre beachfront property ideally suited to the business traveler looking for a little something extra with their stay.
There is nowhere else quite like this in American Samoa. As other reviewers have said, the location is dramatic, but it is quite isolated. We had the bungalow. I think that we were upgraded, perhaps because we paid for five nights, the last one of which was really just so that we could have a late evening departure for our red-eye flight to Honolulu. The nearest road is a half-mile hike away, past seemingly friendly dogs. The road in question is one that runs past the end of the airport runway. The nearest shops are another mile away. Pago Pago, with its post office and better restaurants is a good 30-minute drive to the east. We had thought that we would not need a car for the whole time we were staying at the hotel, but really one is absolutely indispensable. Luckily, the hotel was able to provide one for our complete stay, and we could drop the vehicle off at the airport, before our flight. The bungalow can apparently flood during a southerly storm, as it is located in the lowest spot of the resort. The room is about 25 square meters (5m x 5m), including a bathroom (with a bathtub) that measure about 3.75 square meters. The room has a comfortable, firm, king-size bed; 2 small night tables with lamps; a flat-screen TV on a table; a desk (145 cm x 68 cm) with a shallow drawer; one armless chair; a wardrobe; and a small refrigerator, microwave, kettle, and 2 cups, glasses, tumblers, and sets of cutlery. For luggage storage, there was only a small bench (70 cm x 30 cm), we had to put our suitcases open on the floor, hoping not to accommodate any insect hitch-hikers. Alas, a cockroach DID get into my suitcase, so I inadvertently transported one to Hawai'i. We were not given a key to the bungalow, but after asking for one, it was provided. Breakfast is decidedly continental, with nothing apart from toast, jam, and fruit. We met the owners briefly (the husband joked that he "was just the gardener"), and, to pay for our stay, I dealt with the redoubtable Madam on our last day. Before arrival, communication with the hotel was never speedy. I usually had to re-send my emails to obtain an answer. For security, I telephoned my credit card details to Jona, who took my reservation. In terms of staff, we mostly dealt with Marie, who was very friendly and helpful.

We arrived by cruise ship October 2019. We normally do not do ship.excursions because of the cost. From an excursion point of view, there are levels of touring from this port. Cruise ship company generally charge about $60 USD for a four hour which includes a village visit with an emphasis on local culture and usually with some native dancing lunch. The tours are well organised and suit some people. Within the security zone at the port there are licenced operators who can offer passengers tours and these are more focused tours for example to the national Park which is an acclaimed national park. Operators were offering tours for about $35 to $40 USD. Outside the port gates are the unofficial operators including the bus school drivers and taxis. We didn't enquire about taxis soni have no information on them. However the operators if these rustic little buses offer Island tours for $20 for 2 1/2 hours taking you to the main highlights including the 2009 sunami memorial to the $2 beach. These are far from luxury vehicle but they serve their purpose. The driver was very good, gave plenty of commentary and gave us plenty of time at the sights Generally passengers felt it was good value for money so we all have him a bit extra money If you are just looking for an overview of theisland, these are value for money

Le Falepule offers great rooms close to everything. I enjoyed the hospitality of the care taker that lives there. She is great and very helpful and friendly. I thought they went out of their way to make sure we had great breakfast and Dinner and let us use the kitchen for everything. We'll go back.

We have 3 different sized beach huts with great rates, with restrooms & showers. Plus we have internet. There are a lot of activities like swimming, BBQ, playing, surfing, hiking and much more in our area to other than "Rest & Relaxation." So come & join us!
Отправились на отдых в практически дикое место, где мало народу и окружает пышная природа. Небольшие домики, где можно спать, душ и туалет недалеко на пляже. Отдыхали душой и телом, загорали, купались.

Maliu-Mai is a hotel/beach resort that is situated next to the ocean with ocean view rooms. It's location is secluded and very peaceful, where the only the sound you hear are the ocean waves. A popular venue for parties and special occasions, and consists of a bar with DJ and live band music on Friday and Saturday nights. Maliu-Mai is only a 5 minutes drive from the main airport and from America Samoa's most popular shopping attractions such as McDonald's, Cost-U-Less, K.S Mart, and Laufou Shopping Center(just to name a few). It's service also include rental cars or a transport to and from the airport if requested. Internet services are available with both local communications distributors (Blue Sky & ASTCA), offering FREE Wifi. Its premissis is secure with gates at both entrances and exits, and a 24 hour security guard service.
This couple has been working real hard to turn this BnB place around and I would stay here again. You can't ask for a more beautiful place to sit and watch the sun set and listen to the crashing waves hit the rocks each day. I know I stayed in the old wing - but the new wing is fabulous and if you aren't 100% sure just swing by and ask for a tour.

I stayed here for only one night, however I found this place to be friendly, clean and have everything that I needed. The tariff is reasonable and the outside areas are well kept, so relaxing in the garden with a decent cup of tea was a nice way to spend the evening. I would recommend this place to anyone who is likes to stay a little off the beaten track and enjoys meeting local people in an environment that is less sterile and polished than is sometimes found in the larger hotel chains.
We are a family operated business. We are located in the channel between the two island of Olosega and Ofu. All six of our rooms have two beds and can fix up to four people. We have AC units, Free WIFI and laundry service. Email us for any questions and more information.
