Patrimonio do Matutu is a wonderful getaway set in the heart if the magical valley of Matutu. Surrounded by stunning nature, the charming property is deep in the valley and faces the stunning waterfall do Fundo. It's hard to explain how peaceful it feels here, there are few places that can offer this type of experience. As night falls the whole property is illuminated by candles, adding to the magical atmosphere. I have traveled all over the world and this is one of my very favorite places. A place to relax and really heal on a deep level; it's the perfect antidote to city life. The interior decor was beautiful and very tastefully done. The rooms clean and very well presented with amazing views of the waterfall. Incredible place - a real must!

The place is beautiful, we stayed in Shale Fogo, it was full of bugs - some obviously visible and somewhat expected in nature. But on the first night the electricity went out for about 2 hours, and when it retuned the floor was covered in bugs resembling cockroaches. The meagre breakfast they provide is served in the rooms maybe the bugs come for the crumbs of food, as the rooms are not cleaned daily. We were told they couldn’t provide firewood, due to being busy on New Year’s Eve. The New Year’s Eve dinner served 90 min late, was sent to our room and lacked any vegetarian options as requested. The food was worse than hospital food. The owners limited our use of the facilities to our own shale saying they were afraid of COVID and wanted to protect themselves, however they hosted a gathering on their premises. Which by the way is why they were too busy to send us fire wood. The way they communicated made us feel like we were inconveniencing them, and invading someone else’s house, not like paying customers. They also wouldn’t allow us to use the sauna at the time we requested and we learned that it was not convenient for the owner, we had to use use it only at a time that he was prepared to set it up, not when we wanted. They offered no solution to problems, only excuses, guests were ‘locked down’ in rooms, but the owners and their guests could roam freely. We decided to leave early, and instead of hearing our concerns the owners wanted to argue and justify the awful service. And to top it all on the last night we were forced to move the bed as the ceiling stated to leak from the rain. See photos of the New Year’s Eve ‘feast’ according to them!

Pousada Mandala das Aguas is a beautiful place, one of my favourites in Brazil! The Pousada is very cosy, beautifully decorated in a relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are comfortable and very quiet. There is even the possibility to do an Ofuro (hot bath) with the view of the mountains! Breakfast and dinner are cooked by Marissa, a wonderful cook! Rickson is very welcoming and interesting to talk to. There are many beautiful hikes to do around the Pousada.

Great location where you can enjoy tracking, riding a horse or simply relaxing by the pool and pond surrounded by a beautiful, peaceful landscape. Cozy accommodations and delicious regional food complements the stay in there. The hosts are truly amazing, they really do whatever they can to make guests feel at home (actually, soon we felt like family members…). We will surely get back!
