A family friendly, lush and green Boutique Hostel in the heart of Stone Town, Zanzibar.
We had a booking at zlife. We tried to check in late at night and they had given away our room despite have a credit card guaranteed booking. They then lied to the booking agent (online platform) that we were a no show so that we had no access to support, refund or rebooking. Finally, they refused to provide us any support in rebooking us a room. Be warned!

Shoki Shoki House is a brand new place on the map of Stone Town. The hotel has been fully renovated and opened in September 2021. We are situated in best possible place, in Shangani Street, just 2 minutes by walk from Forodhani Garden and Old Fort. The hotel offers 14 comfortable air conditioned rooms in different standard. Guest can enjoy delicious breakfast served everyday. Karibu Sana !
Overall a really good spot. Good, central location, friendly helpful staff, very clean throughout, and a good breakfast. I loved the local accent décor in particular, coupled with a crisp, fresh interior. Light and bright. Good WiFi too!

Hostel is located very close to everything in the old town, the rooftop is great, breakfast was included and served at the rooftop, what was really nice. This hostel has a very specific atmosphere, very local feeling. Most of the staff were really nice. There were no lockers in the mixed dorm. We booked two trips at the reception. The spice farm was excellent. The prison island was a disaster, we didnt get what we payed for (no guide, no snorkeling, only 1 hour on the isle instead of 3,5). The receptionist (a younger guy) refused to give us back our money, tried to blame us, said that we shouldn't get on the boat. But we went with a guy, who picked us up at the hostel. And the receptionist said that this was our guide. We followed him to the boat, then he turned back and dissappeared. In the end we agreed only on 1/3 price refund, as the receptionist said that he didn't have more money and he already gave our money to the "guide". And he was scared of him and refused to call him. I was most angry that in the morning he let us go with someone he himself was scared of. Other fellow guests, who were in the Prison island tour the day before, had a great experience though. So be aware of what are you booking and dont hesitate to refuse continue your tour if something is not allright.

Lost & Found Hostel is Zanzibar's first premium hostel. We are located in the center of Stone Town right across from the Shangani Post Office.
My favorite part about this place was - besides the extremely central location - their safes, which had electronic bracelets to open. The dorm was very comfortable and had AC, which isn't that common for Zanzibar especially in hostels. It can be noisy, though, being on the main street, and the common spaces are quite small so it wasn't easy to have space to just chill out or meet anyone. The staff was nice, and it's simple and easy for getting in and around.

This was our favorite meal in Stone Town! The place is beautiful, like an old palace/spice house and the staff is very friendly :) The atmosphere is more calm and "romantic" wich is a nice contrast from the outside livable city/town. The food was outstanding, very well spiced and very good price-quality ratio!

First time in Zanzibar and can honestly say, it has been one of my best trips I have ever made. I stayed at this simple yet lovely hotel which is located right in the heart of Stone Town. Easy walking distance to everything around, Forodhani, Old Town, restaurants and the sea which surrounds the island. The customer service was exceptional, Arafah, Hazim, Amina, the evening lady at reception (forgot her name) and the other cleaning staff including the night shift personnel all made me feel at home. I was a bit sceptical to stay at the beginning as I intended to stay at their sister Bed and Breakfast hotel called Stone Town House but a day after I warmed up to these amazing staff members whom I felt I had known for years. They made me so comfortable that I chose not to move elsewhere. So I stayed put for my 12 days stay. I enjoyed the walks around the area and would definitely come back again. Thank you, Mr. Masoud and Judi (owners) you have not only got a truly warm place to stay but incredible staff who add value to your establishments.
