Our hostel is a welcoming place with a family atmosphere is located one block from the bus terminal and two blocks from the main street. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, all have private bathrooms and hot water 24 hours, the kitchen is well equipped and wifi throughout the hostel, we give information about activities to do in Banos, attention is staff for their owners.

One of our friends got hurt at the beach, and the staff fixed her up so sweetly and even gave us all champagne!!! The facilities are so clean (they even have extra shampoos, aloe for sunburns etc.) and the staff is amazing it practically feels like home!! LOVE LOVE LOVED IT HERE 10/10 would recommend

Amazing for families with young children
Reviewed By B5269XTkatiepI nearly cancelled my reservation before we came because I thought a hostel so inexpensive would not be suitable for my small kids, who are 16 months and 4 years. I was worried about the vibe, would people be annoyed with them, would people be too loud etc. This is definitely a hostel but has an absolute hotel vibe. There is no drinking allowed in the main areas and nobody is allowed to hang out past ten pm,which has made it quiet and lovely. When I booked, I was concerned about the open windows as my children are so little, and they kindly booked us in a room with the windows facing the hall. It has been quiet and peaceful. My children are welcomed. The beds are big enough to share with kids and the blankets are warm and cozy. The temperature is perfect. It is spotlessly clean and the kitchens have tons of space. The front door faces a sort of alley (although not sketchy) so the kids can walk in and out safely. It is so close to all the restaurants, grocery, bus terminal and places to organize trips. Honestly you don't have to break the bank to get comfort here! Book it!

Reviewed By cheri bGreat staff, very friendly and helpful. I got some help ordering pizza for dinner from the front desk. Thank you!! I got luggage portage as well. They also stored my bulky key for me while I was out for the day. I retrieved it when I came back in. The room was clean and comfortable. Toiletries are provided. I could have benefitted from a larger waste can, however. The grounds are beautiful too. I went out early for a photo op. The location is good with shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. Not a true "5-star" property, but a 5 -star all you need in the area! Recommended. I would stay again.

The vibe is great, it is a party hostel so it is a great place to meet new people and to have a good time. We really enjoyed our stay but you have to bear in mind that it is a party hostel so there will be some noice but that is a part of the charm for me.

The ABSOLUTE BEST HOSTEL in Baños
Reviewed By ChessgorlllMy friend and I stayed in several hostels in Baños during January 2021, the best of which was Hostal Princesa Maria. We felt extremely welcome by the staff. All COVID-19 protocols were followed, and the family-friendly atmosphere made us feel safe and comfortable throughout our stay. As two young females living alone in Ecuador, my friend and I had a bit of a rough experience, and the hostel staff was more than happy to help accommodate us. Even though the kitchen was closed for the pandemic, the staff allowed us to store all of our grocery items from another hostel. When my friend began to feel sick, the staff provided great advice and showed much concern for my friend (even giving us a huge discount on our stay!!! Thank you so much). More than anywhere else in Baños (and in Ecuador) did we feel supported at this hostel, not to mention the fact that our private rooms were IMMACULATE. Great wifi, hot showers, high standards of cleanliness... etc. The garden view was lovely, and the location was perfectly situated (close to the heart of town, but on a quieter street that allowed us a good night's rest). In non-pandemic times, I'm sure that this hostel would be full of kind, good-hearted travelers, as it seems that this is the atmosphere that Princesa Maria attracts. Even during the pandemic, it was a perfect, quiet, and clean place to stay. I HIGHLY recommend!

Decent Hostel, Great Value
Reviewed By tkohl13We stayed here for a few nights in a private room and really enjoyed it. It is a very basic hostel, but it is also one of the cheapest in Banos. The rooms and bathrooms were small but clean. There wasn't really much of a common area to meet other travelers, but that was okay for us. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and we really loved the location, as it was close to everything, but still on a quiet street.

Nestled amid the mountains and close to the Tungurahua active volcano, you’ll easily feel the energy this small town is known for Wellness in Baños is famous worldwide – hot springs, spas, and yoga are all readily available from Selina. Leave this out or change the R&R, at least I did not know what it stands for. For a day of adventure, choose from whitewater rafting, canyoning, rock climbing or zip lining.

Reviewed By Excursion60580980342Don’t be fooled by the pictures on their website or IG. This hotel is more like a nightclub. And poorly run, by people who clearly do not care about the experience of their guests. Any “image” of well-being or “wellness” they promote, is simply marketing their image. It is not their mission. And to top it off, the building is terribly located, where it’s too loud to get any sleep. We had just hiked Cotopaxi, and we were exhausted. We were so excited to see Baños and do some more mellow adventures, but most importantly, to rest. It wasn’t shared with us, that the night we were meant to try and get some sleep, that Selina was on night #2 of raging parties, or that their guests themselves at this location cared mostly about partying. That’s because they don’t share any of the “party” culture on their website or Instagram, which they most definitely should if they’re being honest. Our room was directly underneath the gigantic party they were throwing that night open to the public. Our room was also adjacent to the main square, which was SO loud. Car alarms every minute. Police sirens. Drunk people yelling as they spilled out on to the streets from the party. Even with earplugs there was no stopping it. Next to us was an elderly woman, who just the same as us, felt dipped by the false marketing on their website. We were genuinely horrified. I went downstairs multiple times and was assured by the supervisor the music would stop at midnight. Hilariously enough, he didn’t even know what time the party was ending. I couldn’t help but get the feeling that they just wanted me to “go away”. I also realized they were charging money at the door, which they defended as “controlling” who’d be coming to the party. But really, again, it’s a lie. They’re making money off this party, at my expense, a paying hotel guest who was there to sleep - go figure. To me, if Selina were to market themselves as a party hostel for young people in their teens and early twenties, I wouldn’t have been so upset, but because they market themselves to young professionals and are constantly appealing to demographics who love yoga and adventure, I feel lied to. It’s clear that Selina is only marketing themselves in this way because it is trendy. They care solely about image, and I did not experience anything close to a genuine hotel experience like I have from the other wonderful places I’ve stayed in Ecuador. I feel I could’ve picked the worst hotel in Baños and still have had a better experience. Selina felt like a “corporate” experience that was cold, shallow, and dishonest.

Reviewed By Traveler1549I contacted the hostal to increase the number of guests in the reservation, I received good customer service by the receptionist who tried to accommodate me to the best of her abilities. The day of arrival I reach out to the hotel to let them know our family was running late but that we should be arriving in an hour or 2, that they should hold our rooms, yet I was welcomed with a threat that if I didn't pay the 50% they will give my rooms Sure enough I get a rude two calls from Carla Silva telling me that i should pay right there and then the 50% or lose my rooms. Should I've known the trash I was paying for I would've told her to cancel the reservation she do threateningly was calling for, yet I provided my credit card information over the phone the second time she reached out to me for payment in less than 30 minutes, despite telling her signal was bad and I would call her back as soon as I get to a good spot. Let's start with the outside, the swing set pictured is full of weeds up to the waist, there is no way a 5 year old or younger could play there, it is a hazard even to climb to reach the "playground" which is less than 20sq ft IF that!! The parking can barely host 5 or 6 small cars, so a pick up truck would have a hard time trying to park without using 2 spaces and blocking the pathway or even damaging the car. The rooms were DISGUSTING!! I can't believe they can rent something like that dump, the walls have mold on it and they are tiny!! the pictures do not reflect ANYTHING of what you get. The "suite" has a bunk bed stuffed in a room smaller than a standard bathroom and a "master bedroom" with a bed ready to fall apart and an old stained arm chair where I am sure none of you would like to sit. I requested my money back since the deplorable conditions were not what I was getting according the images the website nor was the moldy walls that affect my children, myself and the rest of my family or for that matter any guest that has regard for their health! What I got in return was the nasty attitude of Mr. Silva not only towards myself but my extremely calmed and polite brother in law who had to listen to Mr. Silva's confrontational and nasty rant. I requested my credit card receipt for the 50% so I can have it for my records and of course fight it with my credit card, they couldn't produce the receipt and to top it all they charged me for the remaining balance of the reservation after I left the premises disgusted with the whole situation. Obviously the reviews depicted in other platforms are in no way real, because after being inside that hostel there is no way somebody real will stay there and leave a review with anything over one star!! Do yourself a favor and look for other options in the area that have same budget prices and way better facilities! We ended going to Hotel el Quinde, 5 blocks from the cathedral, clean accommodations yummy breakfast included.

Great stay
Reviewed By industryKEI stayed here for 3 nights as a solo traveler during the slow season. Had a dorm room to myself and was able to use the kitchen for each meal. The owners are very friendly and helpful, I was able tonppan all my activities through them at a discounted rate. They provide towels and soap and the shower had amazing water pressure and hot water! The windows are a bit thin, but I got perfect rest with earplugs.
