The Sleepbox Hotel is located at the center of Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands. It is just a 5 minutes walk from the bus terminal.
The first impression of the hotel is good. The hotel located at 2nd floor of the building, below is a restaurant and dance studio/gym above. We rented the 4 bed dormitory room with windows, it's pretty small the room but overall was good, with small USB fan and light on each cubicle. However, one problem is that the bed is next to the windows and windows opening are right above the restaurant signboard, it's pretty dirty with dirt and molds. The window will not be open as dusts will fly into the beds we slept, and the room is stuffy as there is no air flow, so we requested a fan from the hotel reception. The receptionist was very unpleasant and unhappy to help-out, and mentioned that other dormitory room is the same as well. We were rejected until the third time, unwillingly the receptionist borrow us a small table fan. From that moment, they were very unfriendly and even we smile towards them. Their attitude is changing, and luckily we stayed for one night. I would recommend if they are more helpful and friendly.

this is how a hostel shd be - friendly staff, centrally located, comfortable dorm and warm showers. oh yeah and a free breakfast thrown in. it's more of a homestay/hostel as the family live on site. there are some lively kids so be prepared to put your child friendly face on! hostel is right next to hsbc bank on the main street. plenty of restaurants nearby and access to the many walks in the hills is close at hand. good vibe here, with retro style cd player and tape deck! very cool place. you have to stay here!

The map travel lodge is for sure one of the best places to stay in Cameron Highlands for any backpacker or holiday maker. Set in the heart of the Highlands I felt at home here from the moment I arrived. ROOMS They have private & dorm rooms. I stayed in the dorm with widow for less than $10 per night. The beds are capsule style fully enclosed with privacy curtain, light, usb plugs & a fan. The attached bathroom is large with plenty of showers & toilets for all to use. they where super clean & the hot water was always running. COMMON AREAS The hostel is set out over three floors the first being the cafe serving up some great teas, coffees & cakes. The second is the check-in with full kitchen so I was finally able to cook my own food, they have free filtered hot & cold water here too. The third floor was dedicated to the main meeting area with sofas, beanbags & a vertical garden. You will also find the cinema here too with netflix. SERVICES Booking for local tours. I took the half day for less than $10, the views where spectacular. They have a cafe, laundry, shop selling snacks. LOCATION Located in the heart of the town your not far from anything. Underneath the hostel you’ll find two amazing restaurants, Indian & Chinese both are super cheap

I love this place soooo much! I stay in the 3 persons room (on my own!). It’s clean and the location is great. They also recommend me the “Discover Camerons” tour, also highly recommend. The staff is awesome and the washing machine is great too! I will definitely go back here. The sleeping boxes, I only see them and not try them, but it looks also very comfy and clean!

Welcome to DownTown Bunkers . Catering to independent travellers from around the world we offer mostly shared room accommodation and run in-house activities 5 nights a week to make it easy to meet fellow explorers from all around the world. Our beds are solid metal bunks with comfortable innerspring mattresses. The lounge areas are large for a small hostel which allows plenty of room to chill out. There is a tour desk where our friendly staff can help you plan your activities. We offer loads of free stuff and even a simple laundry service. We’re a smaller hostel with a maximum capacity of just 24 people - the perfect number for keeping a family atmosphere which is still fun and vibrant. Being the most central accommodation in town, you’re just a minutes' walk to everything. At night you can sleep soundly as there are no bars directly by us. Operated by a well-travelled owner we draw on experience from having collected the best ideas from hostels.
Had the best time there. Sanjay was the nicest and most adorable host I've seen in my life. Really attentive, caring and always ready to help out and give advice on bokking local tour/ activities and transportation. He has lots of experience travelling around the world and its very pleasant to have a conversation with him. The common area is full of personality and a great place to meet other travellers.qq The place is very clean and tidy which makes you feel you are at your own home there. Over extended my stay there just because how good it was. Would definitely return back if I see my self in Cameron Highlands and I highly recommend this place to all travellers visiting Cameron Highlands.

Decent enough accommodation in a nice area tucked away from town but within easy access. Unfortunately it seems to have now become a haunt for dodgy locals who hang around and scream out karaoke songs till the wee hours of the morning. If you're wanting a quiet night, stay clear of this place.

i totally agree with everything gogo5858 says below. the place is new so should be comfortable. i didn't have a very peaceful night's sleep as other guests were talking on their phones until 1am. maybe some clear rules on silence and lights out need to be laid down? bathroom floor was always wet and i felt quite insulted by the wretchedness of the RM7 breakfast. 2 slices of toast and cornflakes. guy on the desk was nice enough but knew nothing about the area - he was from tamil nadu! so no tips on which walks to do. when i asked about water refil it was obvious that the concept was totally novel to him. tv area was good but again it was right next to rooms so a policy on noise needs to be enforced and in place. it seems the guests were a mix of transient workers from india and vacationing malaysians. my best guess.

The room was stuffy. The door lock was broken. Bedsheets with stains, dirty towels. When asking for replacement, I was told by the hotel manager he would do it tomorrow. Only one bathroom / toilet for many rooms on the floor. I had to checkout the same day as checked in.
