Tallinn's atmospheric Old Town is an enthralling hodgepodge of medieval streets and spires. It's a small city, and the tourist areas are safe and easily explored on foot. Buy a Tallinn Card if intending to use buses, trolleys or trams. For a look into Tallinn's past, visit Rocca-al-Mare Open Air Museum's typical rural Estonian taverns, windmills and watermills, see the onion-domed 1900 cathedral or join the bustle in historic Town Hall Square. St. Olav's spire was once the tallest in the world.

The staff are so friendly and the hostel is very clean no complains. The staff were so kind and even booked us a taxi to bus station when leaving. It was one of the nicest hostels I’ve ever stayed in. Definitely safe for female solo travelers

Great Value for money and decent location. Some very noisy other guests on our floor, who kept running up and down the corridors and slamming doors but that’s not the hostels fault. We didn’t use the common areas. We had a twin room which was a good size with a private bathroom. Bathroom was clean except the shower which was mouldy and smelled. Not often staff on duty if there was a problem but the location was fantastic for the old town! Check out the banned bookshop next door too, it’s pretty cool!

I booked a room today for two days May 15-17. The amount was 54 euros. I am satisfied with this amount, and I paid through ApplePay. But 77 euros were written off. It's over my budget. I requested a cancellation. The booking was canceled but the money was not returned. Upon arrival in Tallinn, I will definitely write a statement to the Police about this scam. I have screenshots in e. It's unacceptable to deceive people like that! I'm from Ukraine. And I don't have much money. This difference is very significant between 54 and 77 euros. And now you do not refund me 77 euros after the cancellation. So I have to sleep outside. I will try to tell about this story in colors through my Facebook, so that people know how Ukrainians are being deceived in BOOKING.COM

Good location, public transportation near and not far from old town. Maxima nearby. Clean but beds don't have matress pad and pillows are terrible. Okay if you need place just for quick night of sleeping.

The hostel is located about 2 km from the Old Town.It was very comfortable for us because we could walk on foot everywhere. Nearby is the harbor and the Kadriorg Park. The rooms, WC and showers are well designed and clean. Very nice staff. They also speak Russian.

Academic Hostel offers perfect budget accommodation for all who wish to enjoy an inexpensive but comfortable stay in Tallinn. Cosy, clean twin rooms and privacy from sharing kitchenette, shower and toilet only per every two rooms. Internet-access available in all the rooms. City center just a 20min car-drive or convenient public transport ride away.
Academic Hostel “is nothing else but the insult of the term “Academic”. I had moved for a few months as a Ph.D. research student to the Endla 4 hostel, but I found it the worst place for living. There is no privacy, no respect, no rules. You can face drunk, screaming people all night even in weekdays that can destroy your dream and peace of mind. The strange thing was when I complained about a serious issue to the management, they simply wrote me back that “Endla 4” hostel is for chill and students are free to enjoy their life. The management had offered me another room in the other building near campus with conditions that I will stay in the two-seater room and will pay for both seats. I had made a request that I am unable to pay for both seats and want a shared room but they didn't accept. I had accepted the offer then, as I was in trouble. The staff was also not helpful, even, upon my leaving they made the wrong calculation almost three times But fortunately, I had made my own calculation and finally made them clear. It was the worst experience; I will never recommend this place if you are serious in the study and want to stay for a long time.

Hostel Alur is situated in the heart of the Old City and in the widest and quiet street. It has a unique location - 1 minute on foot from Town Hall square, the heart of the Bottom Merchant city, in immediate proximity from a Fortification constructed in the 15th century. We are in 10 minutes on foot from the Seaport and in 5 minutes from the railway station, only 5 km from the bus terminal and 7 km from the airport. The Russian Embassy is next door. It is convenient for those who wish to get the Russian visa.We are located in a building constructed in the 15th century which was completely renewed in 2006. Therefore you will find yourself in the place where the old spirit goes with a modern design - spacious light rooms, noise proof windows, a parquet floor, the modern bathrooms and WC rooms, all is in accordance with the European standard. All rooms are provided with the new wooden, eco furniture.
I booked a room with 4 beds and they gave me a room with 10 beds. I spoke to the receptionist (a girl with glasses), who told me that on the second day I would have to go to another room because a group was coming. to which I replied that I wanted to enjoy what I paid for. and she was very disoriented and lost, she said that later she would talk to the manager. the next day I received a message saying that my reservation had been cancelled. I spoke to another receptionist, without any empathy and rudely replied that I had time to find another place, pointing to her watch. That they were full and I had to go. When I asked for the complaints book, he told me that he didn't have it and that we were in the 21st century. I asked to speak with the manager, he replied that he was in the kitchen (as if I knew who he was and still had to go to to the kitchen just to talk to you). I went to work and no one was there. When I got back to reception, the manager was there, and we talked about everything again. And when I asked why nobody told me, they canceled my reservation and didn't even deign to send me a message, even if it was through the platform where I booked, booking. At any moment I heard an apology. I asked if that was how they treated people and they just stared at me.

Noone in this hostel speaks proper English. The ladies at the reception kept talking Estonian even though we tried to tell them we didn't understand a word they said. Hostel looked terrible from the outside, the neighborhood is a little messy and spooky. Inside it was very dark and not cozy at all. There was a weird mannequin at the floor which was frkn creepy. Kitchen didn't look clean and had nothing in it (knives, forks etc were given out by the ladies at the reception). The room itself was nice(two bed room). Simple, a working TV with a few English channels, clean and nice looking bathroom. We didn't try the breakfast. The hostel is round about half an hour from the city center. There are a couple of busses which go there. If I came back to Tallinn, I wouldn't stay in this hostel again. I'd prefer to pay a little more money to stay at a place which is closer to the city center and where the staff speaks English.
