Nice place to stay! Good location near by the centre of Belem. The rooms were cleaned. Not so big but ok and a compared bathroom at the room. You have to pay for the lockers when you are already check out. No breakfast but you have nice places in the neighbourhood to get a breakfast!

This hostel is not a hostel in the typical sense and not comparable to a backpackers hostel. That’s why I think it is also not suitable for backpackers especially when traveling alone. The people are friendly but do not speak a single word of English. Unfortunately I was the only guest and there was nobody to help me with translation or orientation. The WiFi does not work properly which complicates using google translate as well as the check in process, which is done through phone, I had to repeat it about 5x because of internet failure. I had to use my own phone, do it myself and was also asked to use my own mobile data (which also didn’t work properly due to the location of the hostel). I was asked which payment method I want to use only to be told right afterwards that only cash is possible. Upon time of arrival I wasn’t shown around the place and when I wanted to use the kitchen nobody helped me to find plates or other basics that are usually free for use in common hostels. I went to bed early cause there was nothing to do for me. Next morning I wanted to take a taxi to the city center and they ordered one for me but without asking when I will be ready to leave. So I was stressed over my breakfast and getting ready, packing my backback and taking a shower by the taxi driver. I can imagine all of this would have been easier if I had spoken better Portuguese, but I had expected this place to have more of an international vibe due to descriptions on booking.com. I can imagine that for Portuguese speakers and couples this hostel might be an ok option but not for the ‘typical’ backpacker. For all of this I think the price is extremely high, 60 reais, regarding all the inconveniences for the traveler

Galeria Hostel is modern. Our staff have a great pleasure to present Belém for the turist. We spoke english, spanish and portuguese. The bedrooms are clear, with bathroom and free wi-fi. The breakfast is included.
Galeria Hostel is a very tidy and clean hostel in Belém. My friend and I stayed there for a weekend in a 10 bed dorm. The room was very large, easily accommodating all beds and the bathroom was clean despite heavy use. There was air-con, which stays on all night. Sound isolation, on the other hand, was rather poor, so you may want to choose a room not facing the street for guaranteed good sleep. Facilities at the hostel are quite basic and there is only one staff member (or owner) at a time. However, the hostel is very recent and still a work in progress, so I expect this to improve. Breakfast was alright, but could do with a bit more food, such as fruit. Also seating area may feel rather small at busier periods in the morning. The location is not extremely central, but there's easy walking access to the main attractions. On the other hand, it is near a good laundry and trendy pubs & restaurants which felt safe to walk to at night . The lockers in the dorm are not proper lockers. However, a locked room is available when requested. We felt very safe at the hostel so never really bothered to keep our stuff in the locked area. Overall it is a nice place to sleep but do not expect much party at Galeria Hostel. The big plus was the polite and friendly approach the owners have towards all guests, giving good advice on what to do in Belém.

Algodoal does not offer a lot of options to stay, but Pousada Ponta do Boiador is a good alternative. It has a sea view. The rooms are clean. Breakfast is very simple. You will need to bring your own shampo

Finally a hostel in Belem do Para that offers great structure and a lot of fun. We have dormitory and private rooms, all of them with private bathroom. You can enjoy an incredible external area with pool, bar and lounge. Breakfast and free wifi included. We are close to the bus station (just 2 blocks) and all touristic points of the city are easy to access. Enjoy the best of Belem with us!
The service was horrible. The staff were rude. They advertise a "very good breakfast", the breakfast is a plain bread roll and black coffee. They advertised extra facilities which weren't provided. Their large family and kids are constantly spread around the common areas so you can barely find a place to sit. They make you feel like you've just intruded into their house. The bathrooms are dirty and mouldy, the bath mat had never been washed. The photos of this place look great but don't be deceived!
