Overlooking the Strait of Magellan, this isolated city in southern Patagonia bustles with windswept trekkers en route to glacier-filled Torres del Paine National Park or an Antarctic cruise. Before transiting, take note of the mansion-lined main square, Plaza Muñoz Gamero; the City Cemetery, with its elaborate tombs; and the Sara Braun Palace and Braun Menendez Residence, a preserved slice of the city's wealthy pioneer past. Daily flights connect the city with Santiago and Ushuaia.

Hostel Entre Vientos start operation in january 2015 to be a new and the best possibility for backpacker. Accommodation. We have a very confortable living room, with Tv and games, a big and complete kitchen for our guest. We are located in the shore of Magellan Strate with a very nice view from second floor. We have good tourist information of Patagonia. We are near from Zona Franca, down town is at 1.200 mts from hostel. We have shared room of 6 and 10 beds and private rooms of 4 and 6 beds with berths and shared bathrooms and twin and triple room with private bathrooms.
A little bit far from the center if you don’t have a car. Very clean and nice living room for the guests. Good breakfast. The staff had Some difficult to not charge the IVA, but at the end it worked. Impossible to check in early than 15h. We tried even paying but was not possible.

Spent 2 nights here after a month at sea. Very welcoming team allowed me to check in early and helped with laundry, airport transfer, early breakfast...everyone so friendly. Lovely clean place and nice comfortable room. My only complaint is that you can hear everything through the walls (a zip on a bag!) - with wooden stairs outside my room and no carpeting, sleep had to wait until everyone was in bed! Would still recommend

In a central location, Hostal El Mirador is conveniently within 2 blocks from Punta Arenas's Main Square, the harbour and the casino. It features accommodation with private bathroom and free Wi-Fi. El Mirador's rooms present a cheerful atmosphere, with colourful walls and bedding. They offer air conditioning and TV. Guests have access to the common kitchen from 12.00 To 20.00 Hs. Hostal El Mirador is situated next to Jose Nogueira Street and Independencia Avenue, close to shops, restaurants, bars and museums.
small rooms but the place is really cosy and carmen is a lovely lady. In a central location, we used the kitchen too. Attention they only take cash as to pay with card there is an extra charge. The room is very small but toiletes are right size.

Was looking for a place to recover after hiking for 10 days. The Hostal Ovejero fit the bill nicely although its not exactly what I expected of a hostal -- most certainly not the version of hostals I remember from backpacking Europe 30 years ago. Ovejero is more hotel than hostal and I mean that in a good way -- super clean, quiet, comfortable. OK breakfast and close enough to city center to be manageable (15-20 minutes walking at most). Our room (room 201) was nicely set-up, nice bathroom and at least 4-5 English language channels on the TV to include HBO. The only drawback was language-- little English spoken by most of the hostal workers -- kinda surprising given that , in general, limited Spanish was not a problem anywhere else in Patagonia. Overall its a good choice for those who are looking to chill -- but certainly not for those who want to party -- its just not that kinda hostal.

We were surprised how nice and comfortable the rooms and amenities were at Hostel Keoken. It has everything to self cater or eat out within short walks. The shore line is about one km away. Best of all with our backpacks we had a flat 10 minute walk from Bus-Sur which was great. The hostess spoke English and made us very at home. She helped with an early breakfast on our early bus departure day which made life easy before a 12 hour bus to Ushuaia. Best value place we’ve stayed at.

Located in a privileged area of downtown Punta Arenas, next to Plaza de Armas and in front of Braun Menéndez Palace Historical Museum, this unsurpassable enclave makes Hostal Patagonia a meeting point for business travelers and tourists.
Lovely hostel. Clean, comfortable beds and rooms. Good layout with lounge break out sofas on different levels of the hostel. Lovely breakfast. Close to walk from the bus station. we paid around $60 for the night for a room to sleep 4 people with a private bathroom. Room had 2 single beds in a area which could have the door shut, and a double bed. Heating very good - too hot sometimes, but when it's freezing outside, this is nothing to complain about! Reception staff were friendly and welcoming.

A nice place, the owner was really nice and answered all our questions. I was cold most of the time and the laundry wasn't that clean. It's a little far from the city centre but close to the Mirador (view point).

Hostel Joshiken, located in the heart of Punta Arenas, is an excellent lodging choice. Hostel Joshiken’s structure and its cosy atmosphere are specially designed to offer comfort to its guests. Each room has its own private bathroom, cable TV and central heating. Breakfast, internet access, tourist information, parking site and cleaning service are included.
Near the bus station and it is easy to get to the airport. Early breakfast was hot water and biscuits, but everything else was well set up to provide a quick transfer through the town. Very good hot showers!

We stayed here for just one night last week. It was a very nice comfortable room with private bath and window. They also had these wonderful reading lights on either side of the bed. (I'd like those in my own house.) They very kindly let us keep our bags here the next day while we took a morning penguin tour and did not return until early afternoon. The house is very comfortable and in a quiet neighborhood. It is only about a 7 minute walk from the bus station and a 20 minute walk to the solo expediciones office (penquin and sea lion tours). It is about a 10 minute walk to the busy Bories street with cafes, restaurants and stores. The floors squeek, so if other guests are up and about you do hear them.

Not sure why previous reviews or why no reviews at all but this hostel/ hotel is perfect for any backpacker. For an expensive area the price is good value. We had a nice room with no bathroom but they have just renovated half of the hostel so the kitchen and bathrooms are brand new. They are lovely and the kitchen has all new stuff to use. The owner is lovely and willing to help with everything. I would definitely recommend to anyone.
