Mangelgarden hostel is located very central in the old cosy town Soderkoping. It's a short walk to the center of town and Gota kanal harbour. Cafe Korskullen, just beside Mangelgarde, serves breakfast during season. Reception for Mangelgarden is by the entrance to Korskullens Camping (the same area). Here it's possible to rent a bike. Maybe for a trip along Gota kanal?

Simple hostel at an extraordinary location
Reviewed By GAskefalkWe spent one night here, even though this was the cheapest place we stayed in it had the best beds AND a real AC. As it was 30+ this day that was highly appreciated. A word of caution, when swimming please consider the very strong current, stay close to shore.

Mitt på Östgötaslätten ligger Kullagården med natur - och djurliv precis invid husknuten. Gården sköts helt ekologiskt. Hit är du välkommen oavsett anledning - njuta av lantlivet på en ekologisk gård, umgås med gårdens alla djur eller bara vara. Vill man ta en stärkande promenad och samtidigt lära sig om gårdens historia kan man gå en gårdstur med informationsskyltar som handlar om gårdens historia från förr till nu. En skön promenad på cirka 2 km. Skyltarna är på svenska men, det kommer att finnas en engelsk översättning till turistsäsongen 2016.

Reviewed By 888gsteWe booked to stay here not for the location but because we were keen to experience Swedish farm life. Luckily we chose to check-in early afternoon as we were passing the farm, however on our arrival there was no one at home. We then called the owner who informed us she was away for the weekend and wasn't expecting us, we must have the wrong farm. I double checked my previous email exchange with her- including the address and dates agreed - and called her back to inform her of this. She reminded me that she was away and the B&B was closed so I asked her what we were to do for accomodation, especially since it was midsummer weekend. She said we could stay in one of the rooms, eat what we could find in the fridge for breakfast and leave the money on the side when we leave. We considered this for a while but we felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome in the house, this wasn't what we expected from a farm B&B, and we certainly weren't happy about paying 950SEK a night only to help ourselves to leftovers in the fridge for breakfast. We subsequently managed to find accommodation in the Scandic in Linkoping city centre, but were greatly disappointed as this was far from the type of holiday we had planned. Despite emailing the owner to confirm our decision, one week later we have not heard back from her and have received no apology. I would have expected a more polite and friendly approach from a B&B owner. This was a great disappointment.

Reviewed By HansA164Ingen fungerande TV. Krävde Cromecast men jag fick ingen kontakt. Det hade varit trevligt med att kunna se nyheterna i alla fall. Frukost är man tvungen att förbeställa. Något jag inte fick besked om innan ankomst. Nu blev det en ostmacka, lite juice och ett ägg. Besviken! Väljer tyvärr ett annat hotell nästa gång för frukosten är dagens viktigaste mål!

Hostel A Marican is just a 2-minute walk from the open green spaces of Norrkoping’s Stromsparken, and the popular Kolmarden Zoo is 30 minute drive away.
private rooms could be better
Reviewed By izetdkthere are no private toilets in the private rooms. It was also a bit noisy at night. They could have invested in sound isolation instead of technological beds. Dorms are affordable but for the private rooms better to pay a bit extra and find a better place

Noisy trains not so clean
Reviewed By vandrarjonI think room price should be cheaper because this hostel is very noisy and there is no reception in the afternoon. I thought to book room from quiet park side but they gave me a room from noisy train station side. There is rooms both sides I got noisy side room. Room was not so clean there was old smelly bathroom and dust left. No table in room but when booked saw a photo of two tables but there was no table in the room I got. I think photos lied they show better photos then didn't get what paid for. There was a sign on door guests must clean the room but usually hostels got cleaners. Price was not the most cheap. No washing machine in room there is only washing machine in closed locked reception. I came here for sleeping quietly but not possible, washing clothes also not possible, getting table possible only possible in kitchen. Stations is noisy. Difficult to get in because there is locked doors then must ask details before arrival how to get in. Zero services. Price has been expensive when compared didn't get what ask and paid for. Hostel could be better if kept well but was not to me. Balcony and kitchen only positive things here but that was all.

Good value for money
Reviewed By Vickylind83Except an issue with the receptionist who didn't show up when we wanted to check in around 6pm and gave us out the wrong room number via phone, and couldn't give us a spare key to the room my mother had already checked in to (so we had to wait 2hours in the living room until my mother came back!...) overall the stay was nice. Varied choice for breakfast, (which was good) a separate cosy living room available for people who want to meet and chat later during the night. Centrally located. Good price value

Well equipped house with kind multilingual staff in beautifull area
Reviewed By Tjerk VWe rented a large room in this house for one week in summer. Included was the use of the large kitchen. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They could help with excursions if you wish so. Nearby are many lakes, for swimming, canoeing etc.

Long weekend with kids
Reviewed By Milos SAbsolutely fantastic location, few steps from the river locks. One very good restaurant near by, supermarket, ice cream shop. Opportunity for tracking and canoeing. Mini golf very nice but very long cue for every hole. Need lot of patience especially if you are with small kids. We were staying in the small cottage. Great distribution, lot of windows/sunlight. Negative: not very clean (in the cottage broken glass on the kitchen flour, dirty dishes, spiders in the bed; outside enormous amount of cigarets butts everywhere), not child friendly (we have received confirmation by email that high chair is available but there is only one in the restaurant that you can just borrow, safety measures exist-able but in very poor condition). Conclusion: we will gladly go back again but under condition.
