Well worth a visit

My wife and I climbed the 199 steps and noticed the cafe sign pointing into the Youth Hostel. They offer a good choice of snacks and home cakes with hot drinks and if you're lucky a view down over Whitby. The staff were pleasant and welcoming and the cafe was clean. It's a long time since I was hosteling but it's great to see the new side to them. Wheelchair accessible. Well worth a visit.

My Experience at Safestay Micklegate, York .Red Flag!!!

I was requested to leave these premises. I have autism spectrum disorder .They physically renoved my food from the dining area to the lounge because they had hired the dining area to a school, surely the facility of the dining area was already paid for myself as a communal area. They showed disability discrimination towards myself. I was not the only one who complained and was asked to leave. It was really cold in the hostel the Governments regulations state that temperature should be maintained at 21 ° I downloaded a galaxy sensor app and the temperature recorded was 14.9° I also complained regarding the temperature. I have contacted York Council Trading Standards, and I am contacting the Health and Safety Executive. This building is a Victorian Era building, unfortunately the living conditions presently are in the Victorian Era at this Hostel.

Stayed here for 2 nights with a hen party of 16. Beautiful building, easy to find and within walking distance of city centre. Staff were so helpful and friendly. All very clean rooms. Bar area, large dining room and kitchen and separate lounge area with TV. We had 11 beds in large 18 bedded room which was all sets of bunk beds with one bathroom in room. (Other toilets/bathroom available off corridor) Great if you don't mind sharing with strangers. We also had a 5 bedded room which had 2 sets of bunks and a single bed and also had an ensuite shower/toilet. Plenty of kitchen equipment available for your use and you can store your own food in the large fridges if you want to self cater. Staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Would definitely recommend as a great base especially of there are a group of you together. (smaller rooms are also available).

Great stay at a beautiful location

This is a fantastic place to stay for families or for a weekend exploring the North Yorkshire coast. Beds were comfortable and the facilities were immaculately clean. Staff are friendly and the breakfast was good. Our room was amazing with a superb timeless view over the bay. Only negatives were; had to go through 3 key swipe doors just to go to the toilet, metal bunk beds are incredibly squeaky, and I was made to pay for a kids breakfast when it should have been free with an adult full English. Otherwise highly recommended, makes me wonder why we live in a town!

A Victorian house in private grounds, YHA Ingleton is situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, in the pretty village of Ingleton. Surrounded by magnificent countryside with caves, waterfalls, and mountains, the area is known for its walking routes and striking caves, with a famous waterfall trail that begins in the village. If you appreciate the great outdoors Ingleton and the surrounding area has plenty to offer. Walkers, climbers, mountain bikers and cavers are all well catered for and Ingleton makes an excellent centre for those wishing to explore by car - the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, Forest of Bowland and Morecambe Bay coastline are all only a short distance away. For a more gentle day out, try the waterfall walk to Thornton Force or tour White Scar Caves.
