Home to Frankfurt (or Frankfurt am Main), Germany's fifth-largest city, Hesse is the country's financial heart. The Rheingau wine region (famed for its Rieslings) stretches along the Rhine coast, and includes such favorite tourist towns as Rüdesheim. The mountains of Wasserkuppe and Grosser Feldberg both offer many adventure options. Hessenpark, an open-air museum in Neu Anspach with a collection of over 100 historically reconstructed buildings and more than 200 animals, is a family favorite.

Isn't it strange? Germany's biggest international airport, lots of interesting destinations on the doorstep, but hard to find a bed for a backpacker? From summer 2008 on these times are over! Then, the Five Elements Hostel will open its doors to the public. In a beautiful turn of the century building right in the center of Frankfurt, we created a quality hostel, from scratch, stylish and brand new. The Five Elements Hostel is wholly dedicated to you, the traveler.
Overall my stay was good. I could store my luggage after checking out. If you could add some curtain for each bed, I believe it could be even better - though we are in a hostel, some people need privacy too. Brekafast was great.

The city of finance can also be enjoyed on a small budget. This a&o is located between the central railway station and the Messe Frankfurt exhibition grounds, making it popular amongst business travellers. You and all your co-workers will find ample space with 306 single, double, family, and multi-bed dorm rooms. There are also meeting rooms if you need to get some work done. Travellers who come to Frankfurt to unwind can enjoy our spacious lounge and savour a drink at the snack bar.
We stayed in the hostel over a long weekend so it was super busy and you could tell that they were a bit overwhelmed. The lines at check in didn’t get shorter for the whole evening and you had to wait 20-30 minutes to check in (even if you checked in online you still needed to get in line to get your keycard). People in our group didn’t get a towel until the next day because they didn’t have any clean ones and it all seemed a bit unorganized and slow. The breakfast was a buffet but a lot of times quite a few things were missing (for example cups, plates or cucumber and tomatoes). They had a coffee machine but “Cappuccino” seemed to be only normal coffe (and that one looked like hot water with powder). They did have a pancake machine but it was clogged up most of the time. Therefore I would recommend eating breakfast somewhere else. The rooms were clean and shower and toilet were in separated rooms which was nice. The room had enough electrical plugs and spaces to hag things which was also convenient. However my 4-bed-dorm didn’t have regular bunk beds but a double bed with two mattress and a bunk bed. So two people had to share a double bed that you couldn’t really separate. The hallways were a bit messy after awhile. The hostel is situated close to the sbahn station which is good to get around. The area in general however wasn’t one of the nicest of Frankfurt in my opinion. So all in all the rooms were good (at least if you don’t mind staying in a double bed) and it could be a bit better when the hotel isn’t fully booked but I wouldn’t recommend it.

Frankfurt's No.1 Hostel is the perfect place for travellers of all kinds and ages. Our Hostel is modern, affordable and easy to reach from the airport and main train station. Situated in the heart of Sachsenhausen, it's ideal for guests who are looking for cultural attractions, an international environment and shopping highlights. About us: Single, double and 4 bed-rooms with shower and wc facilities, Restaurant offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, 11 Seminar rooms with capacity from 20 to 400 delegates, WiFi, Cafeteria.
Reasonably helpful reception, clean, suprisingly quiet although basic room. Good breakfast, lunch rather stodgy youth hostel fare but fit for purpose. Our group used a meeting room which was also pleasant. Great views over the river and city. The lack of free in-room wifi may be a problem for some users. The bistro area (with wifi) can be noisy but again is visually pleasant. Would happily recommend for an inexpensive venue for a small group needing to meet for several days. Half an hour walk from the station. Very hard mattress, which is a plus point for me!

We were here for Thanksgiving. Once again the staff were amazing, the room lovely and we had a great time. If you want a nice place to stay for a few days or even one night, this is clean, inexpensive, and a good place to stay.

I was in Fulda for the annual Zwei-Tage-Marsch and hoped to overnight in my usual hotel, but as it was 3rd October ,'Unification Day ' , the hotel was shut. As a Member of YHA / Hostelling International I went to this hostel where I was immediately welcomed , allocated a single en suite room and asked if I wished for dinner that evening. Room was clean and comfortable , self service dinner was very good and breakfast the next morning gave plenty of choice. ( As I drive a considerable distance before the walk I don't tend to book ahead as I don't know what weather and traffic conditions I will meet on the A3 in Germany ) There is free car parking on site.

Sporty location next to both the Lahn River and some riverside beach volleyball/tennis courts and running track, so potentially it might be possible to eat one's breakfast while watching a race or other similarly exciting live entertainment. Front desk can be excruciatingly slow - this appeared to be because of reception's emphasis on thoroughness combined with the fact that most users are infrequent travellers with an ability to generate numerous special questions and requests. The staff come across as smart, focused and professional but without an atom of friendliness. Garden was somewhat neglected, but there is only so much gardening that can be done when the property is large and every guest only pays €23 a night. Showers are clean but communal (so you will see and be seen by other same gender people while using them) which I found somewhere between surreal and prisonlike . Brilliant, warm drying room which dried my laundry thoroughly overnight for free, although they have an irritating policy of keeping it locked at all times except when a guest ask for access to it. Thoughtfully-designed, comfortable dormitories with small bedside cupboards housing an individual lamp each, even if they haven't caught up yet with today's needs for electricity supply. Breakfast (included in the price) is a gastronomic feast at an amazingly low cost. In many other countries, this hostel would doubtlessly be as good as they could dream; in Germany, it is obviously below the national average, yet its pernickety, disciplinarian approach to rule enforcement does translate into several healthy strong points and a sound night's sleep.

We stayed there because we were part of a group that was having a sport compedition nearby When they announced that the stay would be in a youth hostel me and my wife were a bit apprehensive as we are difinetly not "Youth" We were pleasently surprided. The staff was nice and helpfull. They all spoke english and one of them also spoke french. While as expected in a youth hostel the room were spartans (no tv no AC for example) they were also clean and even on very hot days the natural ventilation kept the temperature to a correct level. The store at the front desk has beverages and sweets priced very resonably. And while the site says the internet was only available in the common area the room we were in was close enough to the network that we got the wifi in the room All in all a good deal for a small price if what you are looking for is a place to sleep without the luxury of higher priced hotel

We stayed for three days and ebjoyed the gorgeous view from the big meeting room every day, had our choir rehearsals there an had a lot of fun. The rooms were clean and good for the kids, food was great especially the breakfast, but also the lunch and dinner. Personell was very friendly and helpful and little Problems in the beginning were solved quickly and uncomplicated. We will be there again, lots of possibilities offer different activities for the kids like soccer(table and outdoor, walking, hiking, making a fire and bake bread on sticks…
