Things to do in Greenland

This is a very basic hotel but considering it is in Greenland at basically an airport town it is very comfortable and clean. The staff at the registration off was helpful and the people who drove us to and from our room were friendly. The water was hot in the shower and it did not run out. There is a light breakfast included.

We went to Greenland via a local travel agency and provided accommodation here for few nights. Very basic hostel. Shared bath rooms and kitchen. No TV in the room. Breads and cereal for daily breakfast. Small gift shop and provide Internet Wifi service for 90 DKK duration of 2 hours.

This hostel gives priority to anyone traveling with the company Tasermiut, which we did. We stayed a total of 2 nights in a room with 10 people. All other rooms are bunkbed double rooms. One toilet for men, one for women, shared shower facilities. Beautiful location with lots of history surrounding the area and great hiking through amazing scenery. As a vegetarian I can only say that dinner could have been better but hey, we had a fantastic time in Greenland.

We are a modern youth hostel, with both dorms and private rooms, kitchen and diningrooms, TV, shower and toilets. We are situated in the old military base, with kiosk, grillhouse, sportscenter and swimmingpool within 300 meters. We have room for 80 guests at a time.
Beware, this review may consider sarcastic elements. This lovely hostel is situated in the southern part of the city. The distance is easily manageable as there is no possibility for transportation. The accommodation is nicely intimate displayed in the lacking amount of doors to separate each room. This does also emphasise the togetherness of the neighbouring snoring. In the morning the host is so kind to make sure everybody is awake by the sound of a vacuum cleaner in the hall ways. Early check out warms the hosts heart, however late check out is an expensive service. It seems almost she does not want people to stay with her. Funny, because she is as close to a warm-hearted host as possible. I’ve heard rumours polar lodge is a little notch better, might swing by there next time. Much recommendable.

Went by a private boat from Ilulissat, 1/2 h North to the vert small village of Oqaatsut. No cars, great nature view. The couple who has the H8 Restaurant was very kindly. Excellent Grenlandic food, musk ox, reindeer, lamb, halibut and more, fair prices. Awesome location. Didn’t sleep there as we had to return the same day.

I stayed couple of nights in Hostel Panorama when visiting Qeqertarsuaq. The hostel was clean and my room for a single was spacious. The personnel was very friendly, they picked me up from the harbour and drove to the hostel. I stayed in three hostels in my trip to Greenland and the Hostel Panorama was absolutely the best concerning the price and quality.

Bubu the owner is nice. Room is clean and has view to the iceberg. Her husband birthday was at my last stay.. and we were invited to the party.... Close to the Ilulissat blue, yellow and red hiking track...

Narsarsuaq Hostel is a modern hostel with a large self-service kitchen, a spacious living/dining room and a terrace. There are two separate bathrooms and washing machines. The max capacity is 36 people mainly in four-bed rooms. Sleeping bag should be brought (or can be rented), and breakfast can be served. It is possible to camp outside the hostel, and use the facilities.
This place just ticks all the boxes for what you need in Narsarsuaq ! Great hostel run by John, very quiet but helpful guy who keeps the place in order !! This is a VERY remote destination but then by going to Greenland you are heading into the least populated country in the world and the end of the world literally !!

How people have rated this hostel as good is beyond me. This two storey building used to be a hotel, but now functions as a hostel and clearly hasn’t had a kroner spent on it in years. From the minute you open the main door, the smell of damp is overwhelming, caused by one of the showers flooding out and soaking the carpet in one of the corridors (the water actually leaks through the floor to the lower storey where it is collected in buckets!!). The rooms are small with bunks which are comfortable enough. No duvet is provided so you have to use a sleeping bag. They each have a handbasin which has no running water, so the only place to wash is one of two dark and poorly appointed shower rooms with hideous brown tiles. At least the water is hot. One has a sauna attached that does not seem to have been used for some time. The kitchen area is poor with no cooker or microwave, just a small grill, no place to prepare food except the dining table and at full capacity it would be impossible to cook here. In fact we were advised by the lovely man who runs the tourist centre to move to alternative accommodation when a large group of Spaniards arrived. There wasn’t even a pot of salt or pepper in the kitchen and the fridge was absolutely disgusting, foul smelling with mould and biofilm growing inside. The lounge area with two sofas and a table, looks out over the harbour but the small balcony is not used as it is patently unsafe with crumbling balustrades and broken tiled floor. There is a TV with limited Greenlandic and Danish channels only. This establishment is obviously mainly used by trekkers, pack-rafters and climbers who spend days in the wilderness, yet there is no washing machine here (or indeed a public one in the whole of Nanortalik), and no sink in which to wash your dirty clothing (except the one in the kitchen!) which is a surprising oversight given that the downstairs half of the building is empty. I understand that this hostel has been recently bought by a Spanish company who intend to invest in major improvements. Boy does this place need it!
