10 Top-Rated Hostels hotel in Emilia-Romagna

April 27, 2023 Leida Jutras

Nearly crossing northern Italy from the Adriatic Sea westward, Emilia-Romagna gets its name from Via Emilia, the Rimini-to-Piacenza ancient Roman road it straddles. With a rich mix of age-old agriculture and modern industry, the region is home to many historic and cultural gems, both in its larger towns like Bologna, Modena and Ravenna, as well as in its many small hilltop villages. Of course, the region’s best offerings also include native culinary wonders like parmigiano cheese and tortellini.

good service, some flaws

Reviewed By Teosm

The hotel is quite old and probably would need some renovations but in general is quite well maintained and the room are well sized as well as the bathroom. The girls working at the reception are very kind and the same can be said for the ones working in the breakfast room. The breakfast itself is tasty and there is good choice. Wi-fi is working good and is quite fast. The main flaws are: the bed is not very comfortable, a bit too soft. There is no hotel parking, the parking in front of it is very busy, i was able to park in the last place available. Considering the location is quite out of town if the parking is full you need to drive a bit to find another one.

Hostel San Filippo Neri

San Filippo Neri Modena Hostel can welcome 70 people in comfortable single, double and triple rooms with private bathrooms just outside the rooms at the end of the corridor. We also have two rooms with services for disabled, and in the whole structure area there are no architectural barriers. Relax room, study room, info point and kitchen make the hostel a very cozy and delightful place for short and medium vacations, and also a nice solution to spend long periods of stay. The hostel’s common areas are open 24h a day, even late at night the service is guaranteed. The rooms are closed everyday from 10am to 2pm for the daily cleaning, and the check-ins start at 2pm until 11pm, or later whether there is the need. Our guests can use our vending machines for snacks, hot and cold drinks and, in the first floor, there are also washing and drying machines. The Modena hostel can keep, free of charge, the guests’ luggage and in cooperation with Modena’s city hall has four bikes to rent, still free of charge. The single bed in dormitory is the cheapest and most classical solution, that every youth hostel will recommend to travellers, but we can also consider other alternatives like long time rents for workers or students, with special fares in order to make it cheaper.

Good value for money in a pricey city like Bologna

I stayed for a couple of nights in a 4 bed female dorm. It has shower and toilet in the room which was very convenient. I also liked that we were only 4 women in the room and not too many people. We were provided with bed sheet and towels and there were lockers (bring your own padlock) in the room. Staff at the reception were friendly and were there 24 hours a day. Facilities were modern and clean. Hostel was a bit far from the city centre (estimate 30 min walking to the very heart of Bologna, let´s say Neptune´s Fountain) although it is near the Main Train Station (15 min walk max) and this makes it very convenient to reach the airport by train (Marconi Express Train only takes 10 min from the station to the airport and it is very frequent)

A place where I felt like home!

Reviewed By OnAir613625

I found the hostel in the right moment. I reached them and felt immediately like home; the owners are so kind and ready to help as well as the staff group. This is the most important for me: the environment. However, the place is clean and tidy. There are all the facilities a traveller needs. The kitchen is big, clean and has all the stuff you need for cooking. This is great when you travel on a budget. Else, the place to play is really nice. Casually there were activities such as a language exchange group that was great fun! Nice people trying to share and learn together. I am thankful I found this place; thus, I highly recommend it if you come to Rimini. Ciao!

Very good customer care, clean and pleasant

Last 4 years every year in april I stay for a week in Ostello della Chiara. I already know all the stuff. They are really nice and educated and make you feel at home, if you need any information about the bus, city or other they will help you with it. There is 2 computers for guests. On the dormitory are about 4-5 bads the sheets are really clean. There is separated toilets ladies and gentlemans, and the showers are separated as well. They are clean. There is big common area, so if you like to sit inside and reed there is like a small library, and there is plenty of space outside under the shelter. The breakfast it is ok, but not good. The coffee it is very bad and the cappuccino as well. But they do make swets every day and sometimes they make it very good, sometimes it is not so good. They have bread and jam and butter as well, and some yogurt and serial : simple one. Sometimes the roommates are very noisy and hard to handle. But the people that work there do all that can to move you or make you feel more comfortable.

I love it here

It’s a beautiful old villa in the center of ferrara . The workers are friendly and it’s cheap. There are many huge bathrooms. I have no idea what that complaint is about. I’ve never seen so many handicapped unisex bathrooms in one building It began as a communist family run place to help refugees in transitional housing. This may be why people complain there are so many OLD men. They aren’t old. They just seem old to someone who is a teenager. They have young families nearby and are looking for a new life. Breakfast is included but it’s very un hostel like. The coffee is the best I’ve had ( not merely ever, but ever in italia) and it is handed to you personally by the woman who takes great pride in her job..along with a pastry.

Peaceful spot for solo travelers

Reviewed By EBNY17

Location could not be better, and the hotel is located in a beautiful old house. The single room is not big, but comfortable. Has a desk with good light. The shared bathroom is, frankly, luxurious; it's huge and feels like a Swiss chalet. But what makes this hotel great in my opinion is the peaceful outdoor space and the shared kitchen. Great if you're a solo traveler and don't want to deal with eating out for every meal.

I was quite disappointed

Reviewed By justkate96

I arrived to Ostello Stella Marina really hopefully. Sadly, I had to face the fact that the staff didn't really speak English. They knew how to express themselves more or less, but when we wanted to ask for some more linens and blankets, they didn't understand. It wasn't such a bad thing, we went through some activity-like conversations. The reason why I was disappointed is the following: we were there with a class, tried to be quiet after a certain hour, but you know how lots of whisper end up in noise. So, the thing is that one of the staff members come up to us and started to shout. She said that we were horrible, everyone hated us and everything we did was a problem. When we asked her kindly to explain what the problem was so that we could change in our habits and behave better, she continued shouting and telling us that everything is the problem. She wouldn't listen to us and didn't tend to start a calm conversation in order to come to an agreement. All in all, it would have been absolutely okay if she told us to be quiet or to clean up after ourselves if she did it calmly and with respect (not just because we were her guests, but because all of us are humans). But instead she were raging and didn't show any respect. I am very sorry for having such a bad opinion. I really hope it won't happen to anyone else.
