The owner and his son are really nice. The accomodation is super cheap. From there you can either take a tour to Semuc or go hiking, it's about a 45 minutes walk. The room was fine, the premises are really beautiful. The foods good and not too expensive, happy hour has great prices! We had a good time at Aruma. The only thing I can comment on is there was no wifi, no hot water (but we knew this upfront) and the bathroom door didn't close properly.

Hotel Casa Chapultepec has a very special atmosphere, peaceful. We hace very confortable rates and We are located only four block a away from the central park. We have a Kitchen, Internet, cafeteria and everything you could need to make your stay as nice as your home. You're always welcome!
I stayed at this hotel during my visit to Semuc champey. We stopped at Coban at this hotel for the night. Beuatiful ambience and gives you the traditional guatemalan feel. Nice little cozy rooms. Dorms are availalbe as well. Very friendly staff and a musuclar friendly dog as well! A healthy breakfast was served for us as well the next morning. Would definitely recommend staying at this hotel if in Coban, Guatemala.

Great location and amazing installations. Clean place. Food was delicious and great selection. There is a bar and food music perhaps you don’t hear a lot of this in your (private) room. More of a relaxing hostel than a party one. Great views and nice pool. The downside was that the staff looked very exhausted and the owner would work 20h a day which made her do some calculation mistakes and made her impatient with us. I would recommend to double check your tab at the end ! They tried to make us pay the tab of someone else and a tour we didn’t do with them. The woman owner yelled at my boyfriend and wouldn’t want to talk to him when he told her about the mistake. One night my brother in law wanted to go to the Zephyr lodge which is just a 5min walk away to party and the woman told him not to go because the road was really dangerous and full of crackheads... He wound up going anyway with no problem and was told by the staff at the other hostel that she told stories like that to avert her clients from buying elsewhere. Cold showers. No refill of filtrated water (you have to buy bottles). Wifi only in one public place. In the end I was really deceived that such a wonderful placed could be ruined by the mood of the staff and attitude of the owner.

The hostel has dorms, private rooms with shared bathroom and ensuite, solar shower, a fully equipped kitchen, a lounge where you can eat and enjoy the peace and chat, located 1 block away from Central Park Coban, very near market and buses.
We only spent one night here but it was definitely a good choice. The dormitory was clean and the reception is always ready to give advices, share very nice restaurant and arrange your next transportation All that we needed ! Highly recommended for a stop between the city and Semuc Champey. Thanks

Vista verde has a great pool and the territory looks good. A big downside is that - in general - the staff was quite unfriendly. Especially the arrival was uncomfortable as they tried to aggressively sell us tours and did not make us feel welcome. They give you the feeling that you are just there to spend money. Even during the tours they do not try at all. However there was one exception: Melissa was great!

We are a locally owned business (yes it matters in a third world country) with a nice restaurant with food for vegetarians and meat eaters, usually buffet style dinners, we focus on helping the community as much as we can.
While travelling I've felt like I was on vacation during my stay at El Retiro Lodge. The location is perfect and it has everything you need. Perfect for complete relaxing (the sound of the river is best!) or for some more active days you can play volleybal, fútbol, pingpong, pool or take a swing into the water. Besides that; from here you can easily do a trip to Semuc Champey, different caves and the best of all: go tubing on Rio Lanquin! Some of the things you can do by yourself or take a tour. In case you need a tuktuk, reception will call one and it's there in 3 minutes. Accomodation wise you can choose between different offers as private and different dorms. All very spacious, comforatble and for a good price. Also no worry about getting hungry or thirsty. The food is tasty and comes in big portions and everything is worth what you pay for. The whole facility is always maintained, neat and clean throughout day and night. All staff is super friendly and helpful. El Retiro is a true paradise and everyone I met there extended it's stay. ???

Greengo's is sociable, relaxed hostel, located in the lush Semuc Champey valley, just a 10-minutes walk to the famous cascades and pools. You can choose to explore the attractions at your own pace or book a guided tour with us. The hostel is built with lots of attention to color and art, while at the same time keeping in mind the natural surroundings. We are also an integral part of the local Chicanuz community. We offer dorm beds and private rooms that won't break your budget, but also have more luxurious rooms available, every room unique in design. You can find our full availability on our page. We have a large selection of food including Asian, Mexican and Italian specializing in Mediterranean food with a variety of prices starting at only a few dollars US, a fully stocked bar with drink specials and happy hours, a travel/tour agent, large swimming pool, jacuzzi, outdoor sports, free activities such as yoga and nature hikes (if available), library/book exchange (big selection), table and card games, free WIFI (until 8 pm), free filter water, real hot showers. We offer a free pick-up from Lanquin to Greengo's only (from 10 am till 10 pm) for guests staying a min 2 nights, OUTSIDE FOOD/DRINKS ARE PROHIBITED IN THE HOSTEL (dry snacks only are permitted). We turn our electricity off to better protect our environment between 12 pm and 4 pm/12 am and 6 am.
The pure friendly atmosphere of this place is incredible. Mikeys tour was incredible, Kikai makes good cocktails and the vides are muy bein. In a beautiful places with some great people. Semec Champey is beautiful.

Ch'i Bocol Community Hostel is located in a very remote place that requires a 30 minute hike to get to (guide provided). The hostel operates on solar power, and has fruits and vegetables growing on site. It features one of the only community kitchen in the Lanquin / Semuc Champey area, and the property is right on the river, with a waterfall, pool, and beaches nearby.
I expected a great accomodation based on the reviews I have read. But I got disappointed: It started with a hell ride on the back of a truck, driven by people who were drunk way to fast. The hostel is not very clean, and the wifi is poor (I just could connect during the night when no one was using it). The stuff is unsafe in the rooms - so it’s not a good feeling to have to care about the valuables all the time and carry them with you. On the bright side: The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The activities were great!

We didn’t stay here but we were offered to do tubing from here. It got off to an awkward start when our guide made a comment about us not buying him beer and seemed really offended. We were advised that the tubing would be between 30-35 minutes and were charged Q25. After no more than 10 minutes, we were told it was finished and that we couldn’t go further because of the rapids and rocks. I don’t think this is the best place to go tubing but may be better nearer to Lanquin but we were mis-sold the activity which we were understandably not happy about.

This lodge is described as a jungle hotel, but in fact it's a hostel with a few badly built bungalows. Each house has two flats, one on top of the other, but only separated by a thin plank floor. No insulation, so when someone upstairs walks on the floor it's like explosions downstairs. And everything said in one flat is easily heard in the other. The only thing "eco" here is that the electricity is generated by solar cells, but they didn't work when we stayed there. So we had no electricity for three days and nights. It worked in the nearby dorms, though. We booked this place through booking.com and weren't informed about one important problem here - there's no hot water! Not even in the shower. Some people think this is ok, but at least You'd want to know this before you book, right? Furthermore there's an open stable with horses right behind the bungalows, so there's not just a strong smell but also flies. The restaurant/bar is good, actually, and the location very close to the park entrance is good. But apart from that, not much is acceptable. Kids stay here, hang around, play cards, read books, smoke weed.
