Very charming
Reviewed By Carmen CI spent a wonderful couple of days with my family at A Cabana de Carmen. We stayed at the Suite Lareira. The owners and staff were amazing. Not only was the food we were served delicious but also locally farmed. The room was huge. The bathroom is equipped with a jacuzzi. The house is ideally located next to a river and surrounded by a gorgeous garden. Everything was very clean and the beds are very comfortable. Hikes of the surrounding areas are organized by the owner, who is very knowledgeable about the plants and trees growing in the area. We participated in one to the Pedra da Pena and it was awesome. This is definitely a place a would recommend and would love to visit again. Thanks a lot to the wonderful staff for making our stay unforgettable.

Peaceful and beautiful country retreat
Reviewed By 865miguelbGreat respite in a rural Galician country house. This house is totally remodelled, with underfloor heating and a beautiful terrace for breakfast. Very comfortable beds, and a full kitchen. Lovely people running it. I was late arriving, and they took extra care to make sure I was able to find a place for dinner in Cea on a Sunday night, and drove me to an from the Bar Bahia. The only regret is that it was only for one night, I hope to be able to return.

Reviewed By Paul TWe ate here based upon a recommendation. A good range of tapas from around the world ( the Venezuelan tequenos were fantastic). Huge portions and nice crispy calamareres. All the clientele were local Spanish families and it has a nice relaxed laid back atmosphere. It was casual (although the locals did seem to dress up for dinner). The service was very helpful and friendly. It is off the beaten track so has to be good to have so many customers. We had a lovely table under the trees outside. A great place for couples, families and even large groups to have a celebration. A big menu and lots to choose from. Out waiter was very helot in helping use choose. A nice local restaurant away from the main town.

An exceptional start to our Camino walk
Reviewed By Sheila75018We spent the first night of our Camino 7 day trip in Casa Lucas. It is a simple small family guesthouse attached to a working farm. It is run by a lovely woman who could not have been kinder or more helpful. The rooms were spotlessly clean, each with its own bathroom. The beds were extemely comfortable. The evening meal was delicious, cooked by our hostess and served by her son who was also charming. Breakfast was also provided. A taxi was arranged the following morning to take us to OCebreiro 14km away, which was the official start of our Camino walk. This meant we passed by Fonfria just in time for lunch. The platter of cheese and cold cuts of meat, washed down with local wine was one of the culinary highlights of our 7 day trip. I cannot reccomend it highly enough.

Homely homestay with gourmet cuisine
Reviewed By LeeyukThe remoteness of the homestead, in a wooded area，is both a disadvantage because of its remote location and a strength for a true getaway. A large garden with a small swimming pool are the setting for this all stone two storey building. Rooms upstairs feature wooden flooring and rustic wooden furniture, basic but comfortable with attached bathroom. It's quiet and peaceful, some might say boring. Food is a surprise, with gourmet cuisine. We had a fine dining 3 course meal that would set you back quite a bit in the city, complete with background music. Breakfast was simple but stylish with crisp toasted bread, homemade cheese and excellent coffee. The dining experience contrasts with the rustic setting. Run by a friendly chatty father son team, the homestead is more than it seems.

El sitio es impresionante, pero la comida, las clases de yoga y el personal, todavía lo son más. Espero poder repetir lo antes posible. Es un santuario para reencontrarse con uno mismo y disfrutar de la naturaleza, los productos ecológicos locales y desconectar del ajetreo cotidiano. Enhorabuena por lograr un ambiente tan especial entre todos los que compartimos estos días inolvidables.

Just to stop for a drink and keep going
Reviewed By 724psAs a hostel in the middel of camino ( 5km from Palas) is sufficiënt and must say q heb I stayer die the after ok and night my first thought was to cancel it, and keep walking to the next city I did like the place and the garden which received many visitors during the day hours stopping by for A Drink or Lunch They have a nice living room downstairs for the evening with a small fire ? Don't like the only one bathroom for room of 7- with shower Wc and sink all in the same bathroom this delays the pilgrim schedule if you want to leave early or you arrive and have tk WaIt for others to finish Myself. I used the downstairs toilette next morning before 0700 so it was quite and I did not have to cross The whole Room To get to the 1 bathroom Not Sure if formigas had. Another bed room For pilgrims but it would be appreciated if instead of leaving 7people in the ame room we Could have been 4/3 In two rooms Anyway I had a small lunch (pasta with tuna from a can and tomato sauce 7€) and in the eve king the guy did not Even ask us our preference for (If We Wanted To have dinner or not or a menu) he just set the table for us 5 ( other 2 came late) and serve us a menu with wine and water first and second course for 12€ It was ok but he had to ask first (there is nothing else than this in the surroundings if I knew I would have not taken dinner or just ordered a yogourt or Avoided my lunch as I did not. Move much, after arriving to this place I asked for towel And Bad linen and charge me 2€ for a Towel and for an old under sheet I had to use To cover me at night with the blankets In general I did not Like It's a place to stop for a drink during your way to palas

Delightful and helpful owners despite language barriers
Reviewed By packydermLovely B and B about 1 km off the Winter Camino. Lovely views of the mountains even though weather was bad. Nice to sit on terrace and enjoy the garden. The owners welcomed us warmly and were clearly very proud of their establishment. The garden is full of fruit trees and we were given a tour of them with fresh figs picked from the trees. Our room was a good size and very clean. Nicely decorated with dark wooden ceilings and stone walls in keeping with the building. Lots of hot water.The owner would have driven us to a local restaurant had we wished but was very helpful in advising where restaurants were. Our Spanish was bad and they had no English but we all enjoyed trying to Communicate and they even rang someone who could speak English to help us. Breakfast was Continental in a lovely old room with roman oven. Some sort of tea or coffee making facility would have been nice after finishing a walk is only suggestion I have. Good WiFi. Very quiet and very Comfortable. Excellent sleep.
