The Retreat, Links & Spa at Silvies Valley Ranch

Those willing to take on this adventurous trek to the high desert will discover, arguably, the most unique outpost in golf, a place where golf shoes and cowboy boots are equally welcome. Name another golf resort that considers goat herding, stargazing, Polaris Razor tours, bird watching, shooting “peacemaker” pistols and cattle drives as leisure pursuits.

Lots of fixes required, but still charging lux rates

Reviewed By alhabitat

As others have written, 2021 was a rough operational one for Silvies. We had visited before when they first opened so we know what is possible. Staff was all trying their hardest, but how do you justify still charging the high rates with so many issues? Golf course, while still fun, was completely browned out except greens and tee boxes. Water system had issues as result of drought. Food was ok for breakfast. Decent in clubhouse. And, awful at dinner. Meat second night was inedible. Cabins are beautiful. New putting course was fun. We had all the same issues with reservations that others have documented. Started early in the year and went through multiple personnel. Reserved, then had to change cause they had overbooked with a golf tournament. Promised free golf for one day to thank us for our flexibility. Had to push at checkout to get one free round per couple. Rate was promised to be honored from original booking, but system couldn't make it work easily. Was promised at check in that it would be fixed. Was wrong and couldn't fix at check out. Thus, played golf and came back to finally get correct bill. All understandable issues with drought and Covid. However, the repercussions of still charging maximum, luxury rates without delivering that level of experience and service may haunt them in 2022. We won't go back despite loving the facility.

Rock Park Cottages

Nope.

Reviewed By guppyrooster

We stayed this past week in the Hobbit House. It was very small-- hobbit sized indeed. Aside from a couple of framed hobbit quotes and a knitted dwarf on the table, , there was not a thing that made me think 'hobbit' about this place. It could have been so cool!. Upon opening the door, we were affronted with a musty, stale smell. We needed to rewash each dish we used--they were sticky. I wanted to keep my shoes on, because the shag carpet looked like it had seen better days. (I did not, out of respect for the rules) The bed is comfy-- however, it is very hobbit-sized. -- and there are noises (we guessed it was a leaking fridge, and a dripping toilet that re-fills every so often...Very annoying). Our first glance at the shower and it had hair on the shower floor, mould on the rims. I spent time cleaning everything, and was not happy about that. With the noises, we really didn't sleep very well the few days we were there.. We should have complained, however, during Covid, didn't want to deal with having a cleaning person/plumber come.. All in all, this was a very sad little place. Despite the fact it is in a really great location, and the booking was fairly inexpensive and easy, we will not return.

Vacation Rental Owners Beware of Vacasa!

Reviewed By gl440

If I could rate my experience with Vacasa as -5 Stars I would. I contracted with Vacasa LLC in February of 2021 to manage the short-term rental bookings of my home in the Bear Lake located in Fish Haven Idaho. We had bookings from May 2021 through Jan 1, 2022. During this time we had many issues that were communicated to Vacasa management locally and the general manager when the issues needed to be escalated. The issues included, 1) unauthorized use of our property without our knowledge for no pay and not documented with Vacasa, renters upset because upon arrival they could not get the correct door code and Vacasa would not respond for hours, our house being left unlocked/unsecured for days at a time, cleaning not being completed even though Vacasa got paid, items being taken from the property with no reimbursement, arriving renters being left stranded for hours because they couldn't get a response from Vacasa causing them to write poor reviews, and the most serious issue of our house being blocked from the rental pool calendar during the end of December 2022 for four days (again without our knowledge) because Vacasa was understaffed and didn't feel they could provide cleaning, thereby eliminating our house from being rented. I have texts, emails and photos to prove the issues that are explained above. The purpose of my complaint is to expose that Vacasa clearly paid no attention to local mismanagement issues, was unresponsive to renters being stranded for hours at a time, was irresponsible with the care of our home, and was unethical in hiding issues that were left to us the property owners to discover. In January, I was informed by Vacasa they would no longer represent our property. It was evident that they didn't like to deal with issues they caused and decided that ending the relationship would be easier for them than taking responsibility for valid property and rental concerns. We invested tens of thousands in our house during our contract period to enable Vacasa the opportunity to have more rental success in the coming years. By ending our contract related to issues caused by Vacasa, our investment is not leverageable and will cause us a great loss. To date, we've received no apology from Vacasa, only termination.

Lacks Attention to Detail

Reviewed By AvidTraveler5719

The rooms are about what you'd expect based on the pictures. Nothing particularly fancy, but it works well enough. The location is pretty good in terms of access to the beach and walkability. The biggest turn off for us was the grounds. It just looks sloppy. It doesn't feel like anyone takes pride in keeping up with the exterior. For example, there is a dumpster just sitting in front of the property in clear sight lines of everything. It's not behind a fence or partition or even tucked away behind a corner, just out in front at all times for the world to see. As soon as you drive up or walk in/out, garbage is what you think about, and that pretty much sets the tone for the rest of the stay. A little sprucing and some simple thoughtfulness about garbage placement could go a long way here.
