New York State has it all – booming metropolises, majestic waterfalls, mountains, wine country, chicken wings. Yes, NYC is a magnet for tourists, but an exploration of the rest of the state can be equally thrilling. The Finger Lakes Wine Region is a vision of serene waters, quaint B&Bs, and pretty vineyards. Movie buffs will love Rochester, home of the George Eastman House and one of the world’s most comprehensive film archives. On your way to Niagara Falls, stop in Buffalo to fuel up on spicy wings.

This review is only for the boat rental, not the cottages as we stayed elsewhere. This place was recommended to us by the owners of the house we rented. We were helped by Judy who is a friendly, straight-talking, super helpful lady with lots of good advice and recommendations for the area. Their prices are very reasonable. You get life jackets, a tank of gas and a map. We were given a quick lesson on how to operate the boat, and how to navigate the waters. It was a very easy, process and the wonderful folk at Seaway made it a very pleasant experience. I will definitely rent from them again.

we got a cabin for a weekend last minute for a dog test becuase theyre pet friendly The cabin was very clean especially the bathroom. Ive stayed in places that cost a lot more & were not as clean. The cabins are nothing special but your really just using them to sleep & shower. we used the charcoal grill out behind the cabin to cook as well with no issue. Now if i to find things to complain about it would be that the pool in the pictures is not for the guests & the shower stall in the cabin is pretty small.... But all in all for the price it was a good place to.. on a side note the Halloween decor & stuff in the woods is kind of creepy..

4th summer staying here. This year we moved to a 2 BR (Hemlock). The extra space was nice. Previously we stayed in a 1 BR and our kids stayed on the pull out bed. While comfy, it was nice they had their own room and we had more use of our living room. The views from Hemlock are amazing. It has a nice fire pit area. We love the amenities such as the private beach and the use of kayaks and canoes. Our only disappointment (no ones fault ) was not seeing the owners for a second year in a row. One of our favorite parts the first two years were seeing David and Paul walking around. Always so friendly. And of course not being able to use the community room and not having the social events again. Maybe next year those things will finally be back and we will get to see David and Paul at the social events. I hope to come up for a winter weekend this year.

CANDLELIGHT COTTAGES is a 14+ acre resort with all property on the lake side of Lake Shore Drive. The resort includes one, two and three bedroom cottages and two bedroom log cabins. Each unit has a fully equipped kitchen / living room with flat screen cable TV, one bathroom with a walk-in shower, an outside deck and/or porch, picnic table and BBQ for charcoal grilling. The resort includes over 300 feet of Lake George lakefront for swimming and boating. Each lakeside cottage has a gorgeous view of the lake and mountains; hillside cottages are located 1/3 to 1/2 mile from the water front and are more private; log cabins are in a wooded area and include a wood burning fireplace. Rowboats, canoes and kayaks are available at no additional charge. We are located one mile north of Bolton Landing on Lake George - near Tongue Mountain and "The Narrows". Bolton Landing offers a variety of dining options or purchase food at the local grocery store or deli and cook in the cottage.
Fantastic place to stay in Bolton Landing. We were Bonnie View people before they closed, but now we are proud to be Candlelight Cottage people. Our cabin 16 was absolutely perfect. Very clean and spacious for 3 people. Terrific kitchen appliances, comfortable beds, TV in living room. Everything we could ask for. Couldn't be happier with the cabin on hillside. The lakefront area was a dream. Enough swimming area space for swimming and rafting. Jumping dock to sun bathe and jump off of. Free kayaks to take out as you please. Heidi and Mark were friendly and helpful property owners. Our one suggestion for the drive down from hillside to lake front: put a red-green traffic light at the top and bottom of the driveway (similar to a waterpark). This way when there is a red light, a car knows not to drive up or down to avoid some OH NO! moments. At least a recommendation is a mirror at the turn nearest the lake. We cannot wait and are counting down the days to visit Candlelight next summer.

I stayed at Mt. View Cottages over the weekend. My initial phone conversation with the owner Vinny was the reason I booked. He was very accommodating and knowledgeable about the area when inquiring about activities to do with little kids. I stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage. While this room was not one of them that was updated it did have everything we needed. Cottages are currently being updated. The owners were on premise during our stay which was convenient if we needed anything or had questions about what to do. I really apricated that Vinny noticed the size of my kids and I saw him lower the basketball hoop. I forgot life jackets for the pool and he kindly lent us what he had. His wife Mary brought out some extra fun games for the kids to play. This place had a ton of outdoor activities for everyone to play. Short walk to town. Pool was heated to 88 degrees which was great for late September. This was a great place to stay with kids.

I have lost track of how many times we have stayed here over the years - - 5? 6?? We especially like staying here during these times, as you get your own personal space and are near to lots of outdoor things to do, and we can bring our dog, Shelby. We enjoyed spectacular weather during our visit, and the leaves were just changing. We have explored all the nearby Mohonk preserve trails, and this time drove about an hour north to do some hiking in the Catskills. It was awesome. Noah and Michelle were friendly as always. Can't wait to come back again!

We book Stone Mountain Chalet Yoedler Quads every time for the past five ish years and it is always a blast. They are always so accommodating to our needs. There is enough space for everyone and each building is in close proximity so that makes lodging easy. It is only about a 20 minute drive to go tubing or skiing for our group. We love this place and will definitely be back in the future.

The view was nice but the owner is not very accommodating. Over a month before our stay family circumstances lead to our plans drastically changing. We needed to cancel but couldn’t do to the very high cancellation fee. He was not accommodating and wouldn’t work with us during our stay. A lot was going on with an adjacent property and he seemed to be taking his frustration out on us. I understand there are policies in place but we were being very transparent with ample time and warning. Not a fan, the beach across the street is also sub par, you have to cross a busy street which is stressful with young children.
