Zagreb got its start as two medieval fortress towns atop hills overlooking the Sava River, and was reborn in the Baroque period as center of business, perfectly located on routes connecting Central Europe to the Adriatic Sea. These days, Zagreb is the heart of contemporary Croatia’s culture, art, sports, and academics, but its history is not forgotten. The unique blend of medieval towers, 19th century palaces, open-air markets, and ancient cathedrals, make Zagreb the perfect city to explore.

My wife and I had an amazing experience exploring Zagreb with Drazen in his vespa tuk-tuk. We entered places inaccessible for normal traffic, took breaks whenever we needed a great photo or a sip of coffee. Best of all was Drazen’s guidance, especially some curiosities from his interesting life. We felt privileged when he adapted our route and places to see as we went along. It felt spontaneous and bespoke, which is a rareness in today’s conveyor world.

The apartment was absolutely beautiful. The kitchen/living area was spacious and very well-appointed with a lovely layout. The bedroom was small but perfectly-formed, as was the bathroom. The location is great; a little bit outside the city centre but walkable in half an hour. Near the apartment is a large supermarket as well as some cafés and some stalls selling fruit and vegetables. Best of all though was the proprietor, Dejan; that he was an absolute gent was very apparent despite our lack of a common language. I particularly appreciated the two beers he handed to me for no apparent reason one night as we returned to the apartment. A lovely, lovely man. I would recommend this apartment to anyone staying in Zagreb and would definitely stay here again if I return to Zagreb in the future.

We booked apartment and upon our arrival they said the apartment is not available and offered us another apartment for much more money. We had no other option unfortunately and we accepted because we have little baby. They don't accept credit card so we had to go to ATM before they let us in. Invoice? No way..

Tourist apartments 'Snjezna kraljica' is situated in the very vicinity of the ski slopes. It has seventeen modernly equipped apartments with open fireplaces for the romantic atmosphere next to the cracking fire in long winter nights. Our restaurant is conformed to the mountaineering atmosphere and it offers old, nearly forgotten home-made specialties. I was looking for a place to rent near my relatives, in the hills about town. I am so lucky to have found Ida and her villas. Located about 20 minutes from downtown (and 1 km from my relative's house!) this is a great location. Clean, cool and quiet. We rented the upstairs deluxe four-bedroom apartment. There were 6 of us with plenty of space. The view was lovely. Ida was very helpful, enthusiastic and accommodating. She also let us pay her in about three different currencies! My son and his wife and new baby rented the apartment below so we had a lot of family together, with a lot of space and comfort.

I spent multiple weeks at Lidija's rooms in Zagreb, and noticed that - regardless of the fact many of her former customers say only good and positive things about this accommodation - there are in fact certain very concrete things that often get omitted. First of all, this is a "one-man-band" kind of business, err, one woman in fact! Mrs Lidija is there basically for everything, from issuing your invoice, to cleaning, to setting things up, making your bed etc etc. Of course, this is an impossible task. And besides, our guess is Mrs Lidija is in her late 60's... When it starts to rain in Zagreb, which it often does, especially in the Fall, for example, there's no carpet to clean your shoes anywhere! Small things like this, really. You enter the court and.. NO SHOE CLEANING RUG. Anywhere. So basically, you are entering your room right from the street, no rug in the courtyard, no rug to enter the house, no rug to enter your room, no rug inside your room. Why? I suspect because she is trying to save money on "minor things like that".. but that's just ridiculous. Next, yes, beds are okay, overall accommodations are clean - BUT - I for instance found lots of dark hair in my bathroom sink, basically my accommodation was NOT fully clean and ready when I checked in. And I arrived exactly in time when I said I was going to arrive (I suppose she thought I was gonna be late..) Amyhow, of course, doing everything herself, and being of certain age, she gets easily distracted by "surprises" such as clients arriving on time, and once she is surprised basically anything goes.. I saw that multiple times. Mrs Lidija gets stressed under pressure, forgets things (Eg to bring fresh towels), and so on and so forth. I believe that this accommodation will go drastically downhill in the future, unless something changes, and whether change is possible I don't know. Lastly, she tried to overcharge me in the end. When I complained and showed her her website prices, as stated on her official website page, she basically claimed that was an "old website no longer in use"... But still, from which I could see, the website in question is the only one she has and ever had. When I asked her why the pricing on her website is different from the pricing on her invoice, she said that HER OFFICIAL WEBSITE is old pricing.. Okay fine, but why didn't she tell me that at the time of my making reservation? She never mentioned this very important detail. Also, she said her "real prices" are on her booking.com page. But then I asked why doesn't she pull her official website off line then? If it is old and all wrong prices there, why doesn't she just cancel the website? She said that she does not know how to. Go figure! And a number of small things and details like that. Personally, I am not sure I will want to book with Mrs Lidija again. She is constantly trying to act like she is cool, positive, relaxed and overall "good" host, but for some reason all that really appears very fake when you try and get to the bottom of it. The truth is, which I noticed, she is not a bad person, but quite disorganized, disoriented, does not function at all under pressure, cannot continue to run this business on her own anymore, and basically cannot continue to make satisfied customers doing business this way. Yes, these are all just details, but once those details begin to pile up, you end up with a service which is no longer appropriate and a customers relations attitude that just isn't adequate. For anything serious you ask her on the phone, any serious matter, you can hear it and feel it that she begins panicking, that she can't handle it, and that she just may not handle this kind of pressure anymore. Not sure I will stay there again... would recommend the location though
