10 Top-Rated Campgrounds in Sicily

April 27, 2023 Esmeralda Fenner

A visit to Sicily is truly a feast for all senses. The Mediterranean island is a foodie’s paradise, offering rustic fare that makes the most of local bounty. Crispy/creamy arancini – fried balls of rice filled with cheese and sauce – are mouthfuls of heaven. The Sicilian sweet tooth has manifested in some of the world’s finest desserts, like icy granita and sinful cannoli. Give your stomach a quick break and visually devour the Baroque architecture of Catania or the awesome holy monuments of Agrigento.

Excellent holidays in Bazia Camping, Sicily.

We had a great summer holiday this year (2016) at Bazia Camping, Furnari. Very nice appartment with beds for 6 (7) persons. Only 200 m. from the ocean, with the finest clearest water. If you´re not in to the salty water there is a small pool, with sunchairs and umbrellas. The campsite has a little restaurant which serves pizza, spaghetti and panini. The staff is helpfull, down to earth, and can guide you to excursions in the area. Wifi is free near the reception and restaurant..! Must say, that Mirko run an excellent business here.!

Il Cicero

Located approx. 60 km west of Messina, along the Tyrrhenian coast of Sicily, Il Cicero is just in front of the Aeolian Islands and very close to the ancient Greek Roman town of Tyndaris. The Residence Il Cicero is based in an ancient garden, planted over 50 years ago at no more than 40 m far from the seashore. It’s a very special place where 25 small bungalows are literally submersed in tropical vegetation. A new space, where you can find 8 Mobil homes has been created in 2009. All our accommodations (bungalows or Mobil home) are equipped with TV, safe, telephone linked to switchboard, 1 beach umbrella and 2 deck chairs on our private beach as well as free access to our private swimming pool. Our pool is double, and the smallest one is specially made for very young children (as you may see on our website's pictures) Our inner reception office will be at disposal to supply any guest’s needs and make their holiday the most easy and relaxing. Since they are a few steps away from the long stretch of fine (and sunny) beach of San Giorgio, going for a swim is something you can do easily, on foot, simply wearing your bathing suit and a towel. Each property, is self catering and can comfortably accommodate up to 4 or 5 persons; each has a front terrace where our guests can relax, have breakfast, have a candle-lit dinner . Il Cicero as got a diving center P.A.D.I, organize all kind of excursions to the Aeolian Islands, Etna and all the historical and archaeological Sicilian sites as well as transfers from Catania and Palermo’s Airports.

Wow!

We have been to Sicily numerous times and have always had wonderful experiences. Our recent two week stay in Il Cicero was one of the best experiences we have had in Sicily. Location is perfect. The accommodations are comfortable. All other guests were friendly. The owner and management felt like our best friends who went out of their way to make us happy at all times. The restaurant, Il Pineta, and it's chef, Tho, are fabulous. We will visit Sicily next year and expect to return to Il Cicero. You will not be disappointed if you vacation there!

Our first agriturismo experience!

Reviewed By Quanster

I'm not familiar with the agriturismo experience, staying in accommodation attached to farms in the countryside. This was our first stay, just off a highway in Santa Ninfa. It's a relatively newly developed complex, and they've done a nice job. The architecture is clean and simple but there are brightly coloured windowsills or flowers, so the effect is charming enough. Dinner and breakfast were good, hearty and simple. The staff didn't speak much English but we didn't have any problems in communicating. It is more of a basic place than the two we've stayed in since, and had a bit of a feel of a motel, a place that local travellers or workers might stay en route somewhere. But it suited our needs and was pleasant. It was only 69 euros for the room for two of us, and dinner was 45 for the two of us, including a bottle of wine, so it was pretty reasonable.

Good for Temple visit

Reviewed By Clare Y

We stayed 2 nights here in our camper and I would say the sites for campers are not great, especially in summer, as very few have shade and they have zero privacy between them. It is very convenient for visiting the temples with a bus stop out the front and the temples very close. There is a supermarket and fresh fruit and veg market across the road and a bakery very close by. August is obviously very hot and there is a pool but having to pay for showers, even cold ones, was annoying and inconvenient. Short stay only and preferably in cooler months.

Quiet and friendly campsite in the countryside

Reviewed By faded_Glory

This is a small camping just a few km's away from the historic city of Noto. There are bungalows for rent but as a camper you pitch your tent under the olive trees. Positives are the very friendly owners, peace and quiet, clean and adequate facilities (small but good enough when there are only a few guests; nice hot showers). The campsite is still work in progress so don't expect everything to be spic and span - the seating/bbq/communal area is ok but clearly unfinished. For eating out and shopping you have to go to Noto, there are no facilities on site. There is not a lot of parking space for camping guests, you can't park next to your tent so you may have to leave your car up at the parking area near the road and carry your stuff down. Not a problem for my motorbike. If you love nature, peace and quiet you won't go wrong here.

Very nice camping with a lot of shadow for the tents and super close to the beach, about 5 min walk. The restaurant was closed and the breakfast was a bit poor but in the beach u can find plenty of places to eat if u don’t want to go further. The toilets and showers were pretty clean. The camping is super good situated for visiting Taormina, isola bella or the gole. Recommend!
