Amazing!!

Reviewed By Sara H

We stayed here for two days while exploring Tsavo East and West. It was absolutely incredible! After our long drive from Nairobi, we were met with cool towels soaked in eucalyptus oil to clean our hands and faces. My husband and I were the only ones at the camp for both days, so we essentially had a personal staff that saw to our every need. We had the big suite camp with an amazing view of Tsavo West, a king size bed, and a shower and open air bathroom. Daniel the chef attended to our every need, preparing a personalized menu for us when we were ready to eat. Mustafa was also amazing, making sure we always had a full glass of wine and were comfortable. After safaris in Tsavo East and West (where we came up close to elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and a whole host of other animals), Mustafa would arrange the bean bag chairs for us on the cliff overlooking Tsavo West, pour us a sundowner glass of wine, and bring us a snack to enjoy while we watched the sunset. On our second night there, they placed our dinner table on the patio overlooking a watering hole so that we could watch the elephants drink while eating. This place is amazing. I can’t even begin to describe how welcomed and at home we felt here. Totally worth visiting.

Man Eaters Camp

Great place to break your journey to the Coast

Reviewed By Ambassador547126

We had stayed at Man Eaters camp back in 2011 and we wanted to return their with our children. What a wonderful surprise...they have upgraded their pool, their rooms, the property is really well kept and the wonderful terrace overlooking the Tsavo River is just breathtaking. Festus and his team are incredible. They did everything possible to make our halt special. The welcome drink, serving us dinner riverside, very hearty and well prepared food including some special meals for our son who has food allergies...they did it all. Our waitress Rosemary was exceptional with serving food promptly, Patrick the chef was made the best eggrolls ever not to mention our other meals and dessert and Nicodemus the security guard always took care of us, making sure we were always escorted to our tents. The tents are very spacious, clean and with a wonderful balcony looking onto the Tsavo river. The beds and pillows are very comfortable and make for a great night or two of rest and relaxation. The camp is only about 7km to the Manyani Gate entrance of Tsavo East and from there about 2-3 hours to the Sala Gate between Malindi and Watamu. The price point for the camp is also very affordable. I highly recommend a night or two here as you make your way to or back from the Coast. There is also a little museum on sight with articles and photos and history about the man eating lions of Tsavo East.

Beautiful Location

Lake Jipe Resort is situated near to the beautiful Lake Jipe (not quite walking distance). We were met by their friendly staff with a cold juice which was much appreciated after a long journey! The room was basic but the bed was outstanding- very spacious and comfortable. There are lots of nice seating areas and the swimming pool is well kept and clean. The staff are accommodating and happy to organise boat trips on the lake and game drives etc. It is worth noting that on the game drive they organised for us through the wild and rugged Tsavo we did encounter some problems with the vehicle. On the whole they dealt with the situation well.

Mike's Camp

Mike’s Camp is located on Kiwayu Island, one of the many unspoilt, idyllic islands of the Lamu Archipelago, on one of the most stunningly remote places in Kenya Coast. You are offered your own private island where you are safe and undisturbed. Surrounded by miles of soft white sand, turquoise waters and gorgeous coral gardens, it offers one of the only beaches in Kenya on which you can walk for miles without seeing a single soul. We are an Eco Camp where water is brought by donkey and power comes from the wind and the sun. The seven private and spacious bandas are set amongst the sand dunes, with panoramic views. Make of locally weaved palms, they blend harmoniously into the environment. All have mosquito nets, complimentary towels and toiletries, en suite bathrooms, hand painted bucket shower, flushing toilets and laundry service. The living areas are simply decorated with local art crafted from recycled colourful flip flops.

Absolutely gobsmacked how wonderful Mikes Camp was. We travelled from Lamu and were greeted by 4 dogs and 4 cats slumbering in the midday sun, a truly delightful and friendly staff with sunshine smiles and the effervescent Caroline bearing glasses of home made Kaffir. Food fabulous, fresh fresh fresh. Tasted as though it had been prepared by Ottolengi Room exquisite from which one could bath in the light of both the sunrise and sunset Sea divine with wonderful scuba and surf Extraordinary visit to some mind bogginly beautiful caves Fascinating tour around the local village Everything was perfect. I can not think of one duff element or moment One of the most impressive things that happened was I got quite sick with gout. Mikes camp is remote but with the care and attention of Caroline drugs were procured and homeopathic tinctures were prepared and within days I was better. Though having said this it was the perfect place to be ill. We have booked to go back at Christmas. Hooray!

AMAZING EXPERIENCE

Reviewed By Pálmar R

It really does not get more adventurous then to spend a night or two in a tree house in so much touch with nature by the coast of Kenya! I came here by myself to spend only one night and had no idea what to expect. Frankly I imagined that I would be bored since there would probably not be more travellers because of covid. Wow I was wrong! This was probably my FAVOURITE experience out of two whole months in Kenya! The family that welcomed me here was so wonderful and they kept me company and entertained the whole time I stayed there. Btw I extended my stay to two nights because I simply didnt want to leave this magical place after just one night. The tree houses are so cool and you are so in touch with nature. Recommend this for everybody who are in for real adventures!
