10 Top-Rated Campgrounds in Castile and Leon

April 26, 2023 Fernanda Pittenger

Much of northern Spain belongs to Castile-Leon, an autonomous region surrounded by mountains. Architectural gems like the Romanesque stonework of Segovia's city walls, the Gothic Burgos Cathedral and the dramatic Baroque square in Salamanca are complemented by the area's natural beauty. Parque Natural de las Hoces del Rio Duraton is marked with deep gorges and shelters many birds of prey, while Parque Natural del Lago de Sanabria y alrededores contains the largest glacier lagoon on the Iberian Peninsula.

Stayed in a lake view lodge. Very overpriced and under equipped. Season residential caravans very noisy and unsightly. Pool closed covered in algae obviously closed for a while. Nearest supermarket 20 miles away, no fridge freezer only tiny icebox under counter fridge. No kettle, hairdryer or decent pans. Pine trees obstructed lake view and constant falling branches threatened to damage car. In six weeks of travel this was the most expensive and under equipped chalet we stayed in E97 per night. Left early

Good spot for visiting Salamanca

Reviewed By HELEN K

We stayed in our campervan in the hotel grounds. Pitches were fine, decent size and quite level. Electricity hook up and wi fi were an issue the night we stayed. Some people had to move to be able to hook up. Wi fi was very poor. Bus service to Salamanca on site, about every half hour. Facilities were clean although many loos were out of commission , ther were still enough as it was low season. Restaurant in the hotel on site left a little to be desired. I ordered a mixed plate when it came everything was deep fried in batter, tiny prawns, chicken nugget type things, octopus and potato croquettes. You couldn’t order veg……. Staff were helpful although when we arrived I was told I was a day early for my booking, I wasn’t and we got is sorted out but not sure it’s a 4 star establishment .

Camping Fuentes Blancas

Fab place, ideal for level walks around the area. Especially with old dogs.

Reviewed By GoddardMalaga

Stayed for 3 nights. This place is ideally situated to visit Burgos if camping/caravan/autocaravan. The plots are relatively level but somewhat bumpy and difficult to discern which is which. Look out for killer fire extinguishers fabulously placed in areas where you have difficulty seeing in your mirrors and low level. A great safety feature but not compatible with the side of ones vehicle. There are reasonable facilities, a little tired but clean. And areas to refill water and dispose of black water.

Friendly, cosy accommodation in beautiful surroundings

Reviewed By A7117SNsued

The staff were extremely helpful, both before arrival and during my stay. The cabins are lovely, simple (as expected!) and spotlessly clean. It is a very friendly place, and in a perfect location, with shops nearby in the village but a wonderful feel of being out in the countryside, and just a short drive from the Lago de Sanabria. Highly recommended for someone staying alone - they made me feel like part of the family!.

Good site in lovely town

Reviewed By tattyff

The area is stunning and we enjoyed an amble around the town of Riaza. It was very cold on our visit but the restaurant had a good fire going and we were able to keep warm here. The shower block is heated too. Very clean facilities indeed. Wi fi reception was available from a games room. Friendly helpful staff and I can certainly recommend a stay here.
