This ancient and historic city houses many buildings going back to the early Middle Ages. Until it was overtaken by Amsterdam in the Dutch Golden age, Utrecht was the most important city in the Netherlands. It was and still is the See of the Archbishop of Utrecht, the most important Catholic leader in the Netherlands. The University of Utrecht is the largest in the Netherlands. One of the unique features of the city is the wharf system in its inner canals. Before the city was fully canalized, parts of the Rhine River flowed through the city center. Most prominent of the historic buildings is the Gothic Cathedral of Saint Martin, the construction of which lasted for almost 200 year, beginning in 1254.

Become part of history Hotel Beijers is a glorious boutique antique hotel, located in a 17th-century city palace with a rich history. Our hotel is situated in the heart of the historic city centre, a stone’s throw from the famous Dom Tower and next to the St. Peter’s Church. Thanks to art dealer and lover of monuments Bert Degenaar, the history of this building has been honoured and celebrated.
Hotel Beijers is a beautiful hotel in the historic center of Utretch. The room was nice and the staff helpful. My concern was the church bells that rang every 15 minutes throughout the night. You’d think it would stop ringing at some point late in the evening but you’d be wrong. If you’re a heavy sleeper then great. But if you’re a light sleeper then you’ll have trouble sleeping here. The bells are the only reason I give only three stars.

A special place in the heart of Utrecht, where every floor has its own history. Located in the ancient city center with the famous Dom Church around the corner. You will stay in a characteristic canal house with views over the old fish market and the famous Oudegracht (canal). On the ground floor, you will find our own soup bar, Soep-er. A cozy restaurant and boutique hotel all under one roof.
When planning our vacation through the Netherlands we knew we needed a place in Utrecht close to the train station for easy transport but also wanted a place along the main canal if possible. Logement Petit Beijers checks off both boxes plus many, many others and we had a fantastic three nights at the hotel. The owners, Janine and Tom, were absolutely wonderful in helping us. Tom insisted on helping us take our luggage to the top floor (it is an old canal house, with no elevator, so take that into account) and every morning they'd engage with us as we left for a day of exploring, offering helpful advice and suggestions. We got a free upgrade to a top room and it was excellently decorated and included local area info and info collected by the owners. If the room itself wasn't enough to stay, the owners are. I'd be more than happy to go out of my way to stay in Utrecht just so I can spend another night here.

MUZE is an exclusive and small-scale hotel located in a monumental building. MUZE has six uniquely styled rooms, inspired by different museums in Utrecht. Enjoy your fresh, home-made breakfast and delicious coffee or tea in the conservatory with gardenview or in our ensuite with view over the park. Feel welcome at MUZE!
We've stayed in a lot of hotels around the world and this has to be one of the best. The location is great - just a few minutes walk from the Utrecht's historic centre and right on the canal. We stayed in the Central room which was bright, clean and spacious. Even the bathroom was amazing - with a freestanding bath looking out the window over the canal. Staff were all super friendly and the breakfast was delicious - they even catered for my partner needing gluten free food.

I spent 5 nights in the room. By first impression the space is even nicer than the photos! The area is calm and you can relax by the canal as you are in the waterfront. Everything is on walking distance (sights, restaurants/cafes, shops, supermarkets) and you can also prepare anything you need in the room's kitchen if you don't feel like going out. Make sure to use the bike rental options provided as you won't find any cheaper bike rental around, and you will get the full experience of moving around like the locals. Last but not least, the owner is really heartwarming and helpfull and he can definately suggest things to do and see in the city according to your likings. Some beers, sodas, wines and coffee were provided which is really nice because a majority of accomodations charge you for that. All in all, if you are looking for a place to clear your head and have a nice relaxing time, I would highly recomend this place. Thank you again for the hospitality and I promise I will be back. My daughter KimEtalem has already written a review about our wonderful stay at this lovely B&B in the middle of Utrecht so I recommend you look up her review as I totally agree and I don't want to repeat that. There are two other aspects I thought I'd highlight. Firstly and most importantly I wanted to mention how wonderfully easy it was to arrange our stay through Paul and Sander. My queries were answered quickly and succinctly and when you're living on the other side of the globe in Australia that gives a high level of comfort. After our arrival they were always present in Anne & Max to answer any questions we might have, give recommendations for dinner venues and making sure we were looked after throughout. The other point I wanted to stress is that there is an easy accessible car parking a few hundred metres away in the Springweg so there is no need to try and find street parking and might sway your decision to add a visit to this beautiful city and stay in this delightful B&B.

I was alone on a Sunday evening and found this posh restaurant. It is serving a surprise menu (with 3,4 or five dishes). I had the three course menu and it was totaly satisfying. The service was kind and attentive. Here are some photos of what you may encounter:

Last week I was booked in to the Badhu by conference organisers. I expected the usual good quality but rather boring 'motel' type accommodation, but the Badhu is a million miles from that! The 'Gastro Pub' on the ground floor is excellent; breakfast was superb, the menu choices and quality of evening food was undeniably good and the red wines available were interesting and strong quality. It sounds odd, but the stairs up to the first floor rooms were an unexpected pleasure, as was the 'industrial' but classy feel to the place. The rooms at the Badhu are colour-coded rather than numbered - great fun! The staff were fantastically helpful, extremely friendly and very professional The next time I head to Utrecht, the Badhu will be where I stay!
