We are a small resort located in the center of the Jambiani village on the east coast of Zanzibar, Tanzania. The village of Jambiani is considered the most fascinating and exciting village of Zanzibar, because, it has remained unchanged despite the development of tourism over time, with fishermen leaving the sea every morning with their dhow boats and women who grow seaweed in their seaside gardens. Our resort is designed by an Italian designer in an architectural style inspired by the Arabian homes of Stone Town and completed with an African inspired interior design, made of recycled items and paintings by young Tanzanian artists. Everything was built ecologically, thanks to the use of natural lime, an environmentally friendly material, and wood, with very low environmental impact,. A lot of nature, zero reinforced concrete. During a vacation at The Loop guests can experience activities at our Water Sports Center, including kite surfing, sailing and wind surfing school. The latest generation of equipment is available, and renewed every year, to offer the most, or to accommodate guests’ equipment.
Everything about our stay was just perfect. It's a new hotel with western standards where you can totally relax and read a book. The set up is really all about relaxation. All your needs are taken care off. Monica and Mary are so lovely and make you feel like a part of the Loop family. They cater your every needs and they're always close by to help. I hope your employer has the airconditioning installed in your office already. The food was great, the accommodation was very lovely, the beach in front is endlessly beautiful. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and funny! Thank you so much for our stay! M & M both of you are amazing and missed! Only one point of improvement are the beds they're quite hard.

Makofi guest house is definitely a fabulous place to stay. The food, the staff and the rooms were just amazing. They had some of the best food we had on the Island and the staff are super helpful and so lovely. We had such a good time and we didn’t want to leave. Makofi guest house is at such a good location with only a moments walk to the beach. The vibe that it has is next to none and I would not hesitate to stay here the next time I visit Nungwi beach.

Zanzibar Pearl Boutique Hotel & Villas is a unique ocean-front hotel in the most spectacular beach of Matemwe. Located on the north-east coast of Zanzibar, away from the hustle and bustle. Inspired by the local Zanzibar Architecture, it incorporates the styles with local resources. Our aim is to provide authentic, stylish, and comfortable accommodation, in an atmosphere of relaxed hospitality.
We booked 4 nights at this hotel in February for the Easter week and had looked very much forward to it as part of our holidays in Zanzibar. Upon arrival to Pearl Boutique Hotel we were greeted by a male front desk manager and a couple of friendly female staff members. The manager informed us that we could use mountain bikes free of charge, that we probably couldn’t go on a boat tour with our 11 months year old baby, that we needed reef shoes to swim in the sea and that it was likely to rain during our entire stay. After that kind introduction, which took approximately 1 hour since they asked for an upfront payment of the room and didn’t believe us when we said that 50% was already paid when we made the reservation and needed to check their system, we were shown to our room. In the mail from the lady at the reservation department, the room was referred to as a “Pearl suite”. It was a sea front, tiny room measuring an estimated 16 square meters with a small double bed and two old fans. The fans were not connected though, so the room was extremely hot and humid. We asked to be shown an alternative room and they offer us the “Pearl villa” for 270 USD per night, which is with a 10% discount to which is added a 5% “card fee”. The reservation of the “Pearl suite” was made with a 15% discount due to the low season. But, as they reminded us, they don’t do any refunds so it made sense to accept their current price and top up what we already disbursed rather than to leave and go back to our previous hotel. The “Pearl villa” is a pleasant room with AC, an out door bathroom and a plunge pool, but the name is still misleading - it is not a villa - it’s a normally sized hotel room with a nice, private outdoor space..! It is also next to the ocean has a beautiful view. We were supplied with one bottle of filtered water per day for three persons, and the shower cream / shampoo in the room was of cheap quality. We booked half board, where a three course dinner with a very ambitious menu was included. Unfortunately, the food was OK at best. It would probably be easier to maintain high quality with a shorter menu. The service staff were very kind, friendly and flexible. The breakfast was also generous in size and the taste/quality was OK. We would never stay here again or recommend anyone to to so due to the overpriced rates used in combination with the lack of high quality expected with those rates - this includes the food, the beds and the entire interior both in the rooms and in the common areas. As a reference, we stayed at Park Hyatt in Stone Town in the beginning of our trip to Zanzibar which was only a little pricier and the experience is not comparable in terms of the standard and services provided.

The garden is planted with coconut palms and exotic trees rustled by the cool sea breeze. From the deck of the pool you'll find a direct view on the lagoon, that spreads its color less than 30m away. The hotel is located east of Zanzibar which is ideal for most of the location you want to visit if you are planing to do tourist tours. The staff is super friendly we stayed at the hotel for 8 days during May 2022 When we arrived we had booked our own bungalow with beach front but because we had a small kid with us it was not suitable as there were stairs to reach the room and we were afraid she would fall down from there. so the team helped us to move to a better 2 bedroom room. Al though there was always insects and bugs in the room i think it is fair to say it is clean. however you need to tell the staff to clean what u want to clean because they don’t do it by nature. The food at the hotel is not cheap and not expensive so if you are planning to stay for a long period , you will need 15-20$ per person for lunch and same for dinner. Breakfast is good with few variations of what you can eat, you just need to be careful with sugar as I always found insects inside it which you can barely see. The facility of the hotel is amazing and great for kids, Big pool relatively and comparing to similar hotels Beach access is very easy and direct, it depends on what time you go to the beach during the tide I would recommend it for couples and family ✌️

Villa Kiva is located on the long and white sandy beach of Matemwe on the north east coast of Zanzibar. Matemwe is well known for the absence of big resorts and mass tourism. It is a part of the island where it is still possible to share and live the local life, walking through a local fish market and having a relaxing time on the beach. Just in front of Villa Kiva there is the atoll of Mnemba Island where it is possible to admire the amazing reef and colourful fish both snorkeling and scuba diving.
We had a nice room with a great sea view balcony. The setting was nice with easy access to the ocean and two swimming pools in the back. Housekeeping was perfect. Really nice place! Two downsides however: the restaurant was ok, but not more than that. Some of the staff never smiled - not a big problem, but an would have been an easy way to improve or experience.

I stayed at La Luna Apartments for nine days in January 2022 and I just loved the place. Modern and clean and nicely decorated. Beautiful pool area at your doorstep. The apartments are perfect if you want some privacy and make your own food. Next door Mwezi Boutique Resort (same property) has a good restaurant if you want to be served all meals. Nearby village sells frech fruit and other groceries, just loved to walk around among the locals.

Booked here because it said it had AC which didn’t work and nobody was interested in helping. The local people in Zanzibar are so lovely except for here where the staff are rude and miserable. There are far better places to stay in the area with much better value for money. Stay clear if this awful place!

Why not sleep and wake up with the dolphins! Promised Land Lodge located in the south coast of Zanzibar in the dolphin village called Kizimkazi. 50 km from Stone Town and 20km to the east coast. Promised Land Lodge is designed with traditional Zanzibari features to create a unique cool and relaxing environment with tropical garden with direct access to the beach and warm water of the Indian Ocean. It is a place where you feel at home as seen in our reviews.
The food and views are amazing but on my first visit to their restaurant for dinner on the 8th june they had no change for USD ($2 due back) and on my second visit for breakfast on the 9th june i paid in shillings and they still had no change (8000 shillings due back). They either have a sense of entitlement or they clearly cant be bothered to ensure their clientelle get their change no matter what. If your a walk in client take change.
