Tamarindo is a prime spot for surfing and sportfishing, diving and sunning. Nesting leatherback turtles do their thing along the beaches from October to May and, for some nesting of your own, gorgeous beach houses, B&Bs and luxury hotels line the sunny sands. Shopping and dining options are superb and plentiful, perfect for sampling the true flavors of Costa Rica.

Soul Shine is not a place, it’s a state of mind. Whether you are into surfing or just chilling by the pool, SoulShine is the best place to be. This lovely 7 room mediteranean chick resort has a great restaurant and beautiful garden surroundings. On premises you will find an amazing outdoor pool (including kiddy pool), many magical hiding spots for relaxation and fully furnished outdoor kitchen
I stayed at SoulShine for a total of 4 nights in May 2022. I chose it due to its proximity to a nearby retreat resort that I was attending; I also chose SoulShine because they serve breakfast/lunch onsite and they have rave reviews for their food - for good reason! It is fresh, healthy, and delicious! Thank you! The accommodations are perfect; each, its own little casita. The bed is comfortable and the room is well-appointed. SoulShine provides bathroom toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, and shower get so you do not have to pack those. There is an outside kitchen where you can prepare your own food or refrigerate any items that you need. I was very well pleased with the arrangements and was very well-taken care of by the owners, Jael and Rory. The grounds are beautiful with lots of floral and fauna. The pool is a relaxing area with a covered lounge area and places to sunbathe. SoulShine is a short walk to the beach and you can also arrange surf lessons should you desire. There is also a small market nearby. I will certainly return to SoulShine. Everyone is very friendly and more than happy to help you with anything that you may need. I am grateful and appreciative of my time spent here. Thank you!

The owner , TJ, will do anything you need. Very friendly, and helpful. Elena, was over the top helpful. A world class hostess. Held a parking spot for us while we arrived, and had a smile on her face at all times. My wife was feeling ill upon our arrival, and she went out of her way to make her comfortable. Her knowledge of the local area was invaluable, and had shots of tequila waiting for us when we checked in. ( I drank the wife’s) The resident dogs and cats were friendly and a welcome addition to this experience. The hotel rooms were great and the location was prime. It was not over priced, and a great value for the area. We felt totally safe here. It is right on the beach, which was gorgeous, and everything you may need is within walking distance. We enjoyed it very much and if we ever go back to that area, we will be calling Elena right off the bat. She is the heart of this place and an absolute gem of a human being.

Once inside the tropical, jungle hotel, you leave the chaos of the street behind. nice shady pool area, quiet rooms and friendly, helpful front desk staff. Rooms were very clean, safe in room. If you are leaving early you need to tell them so they can unlock the gate. Very nice atmosphere and good value for the price

Situated in a quiet town of Playa Avellanas, the Drift Away Eco Lodge offers a perfect setting to relax, unwind, and connect with nature. The lodge is located in close proximity to some of Guanacaste’s most beautiful beaches known for great swimming and excellent surfing.
You know your in a good spot when you hear your teenager mumble to himself “this is a cool spot”. After arriving during a long day of travel, we were greeted by the delightful hotel manager Maria. She could not of been more accommodating by keeping the kitchen open after getting lost from the airport (that is another story). If you want to stay away from the tourists and have a more authentic experience, this is the spot for you. The villas are equipped with everything you need. Victoria was very sweet by catering to all of our gastrointestinal needs and Mauritizo went out of his way to make my daughter’s birthday a special event by decorating and ordering a cake. Don’t miss out on Lola’s for lunch and hit up playa Negra for beautiful beaches and restaurants. The only thing that I wish they had was a gym. We will definitely come back!

It had everything we needed! Strong wifi, AC, access to the kitchen area, and a nice pool. We also had a hammock outside our room and a little bistro table and chairs. There were also some loungers by the pool. Cecile had beach towels for us too. The room was small but had everything, including a bar fridge. Definitely recommended for backpackers!

We stayed for a week in June 2021 and highly recommend. Small and personable defines this hotel. It's slightly off the beaten path but walk to beach is a breeze and it's so close to town that walking everywhere is not an issue. Bungalows were cute, clean and the grounds were well maintained. Pool was good size although hot tib was nit working. The fresh juice at breakfast was a treat and it was nice having 3 breakfast options to chose from. Peno was a wonderful host with great recommendations for restaurants and quick to assist us. Signage at the main road would have been helpful to find the hotel but that was the only glitch we experienced.

Hotel Flores is a small and cozy hotel with different accommodation options. We offer rooms, studios and apartments, for all your needs. Only 8 units surrounded by tropical landscaped grounds and a beautiful pool with waterfall provide a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Close to the center of Tamarindo and the beach.
This review is for the studio, room 2. Tamarindo has changed a lot in the last few years: it has grown considerably and become more expensive. That said, we were surprised at the poor value for money represented by this hotel. We had hoped that, at $135 a night, it would be decent quality. We were disappointed that our room was yards from the busy main road and that the windows were an old louvered type which let in not only huge traffic noise but also some fumes and dust. The room was tired and had not been maintained well - stained tiles and toilet, chipped paint, ill-fitting curtains and door which, given the cost, seems unreasonable. The room is in serious need of a deep clean. Also, even after being looked at twice by staff, we could only achieve two outcomes from the ac - way too hot or freezing cold - no happy medium. Wi-fi was also inconsistent and often weak or non existent. On the plus side it is very close to shops and restaurants, the bed was comfortable and the fridge worked well but the noise from both the road and the pool/ reception area (from where we could hear people’s whole conversations in our room) were overwhelming for us and we would not return. Frankly if these sort of prices persist we would not return to Tamarindo - it is no longer what it was and is currently pricing itself out of the market, when so many alternatives exist.

My wife and I frequent the bar here. We are staying nearby. The drink are far better than many of the more expensive restaurants in the area. We have had both the pina colada and margarita. The margaritas are fresh squeezed and nicely presented. These bartenders are among the best on the beach.

My boyfriend and I came to Tamarindo for a month (May 2022) and heard about In The Shade co-working space. We signed up to a 3-week membership for the co-working space and it was one of the best decisions we've made on the holiday. We worked there from 9am-5pm on the week days. They have the best Wi-Fi in Tamarindo, there was plenty of space, the staff and owner (Patrick) are so friendly and welcoming, and they've created a great little community of like-minded individuals who are interested in working hard and travelling. The space often attracts digital nomads, like ourselves. They also have excellent and reasonably priced food/drinks, and an indoor and outdoor space to work. The place is very clean and it's a beautiful setting to work from. When sitting outside, you look onto their newly built infinity pool and sun loungers. During our time at In The Shade, we've met some great people who we ended up hanging out with at the weekends. We'd really recommend this place for anyone coming to Tamarindo and working remotely! Although we were staying at an Airbnb nearby, we met some people who were staying at the hotel and were very happy with their stay too.

Great location! Steps to beach and heart of downtown/main strip on beach. Lots of boutique/souvenir shops and restaurants right outside the entrance. There was an oversized fridge which came in handy for storing leftovers. The room was like an ice box and the proximity to everything we did locally made it easy to stop by and cool down. Sunsets in Tamarindo should not be missed, so get an ocean view balcony if you can manage. Read someone else’s review that the shower was cold in their upstairs unit so wanted to specify that that was not our experience. Very hot shower in ours. Don’t expect a 5 star hotel here with every accommodation, but if you look at this based off just value, its a great package deal. I recommend the resort to anyone looking for a stay on a budget as its a great way to experience Tamarindo.
