Reviewed By travel4food8A wonderful place to stay. Just a few hundred metres from the Beach at Kottegoda. Set far back from the road on a wonderful Colonial Style Villa, surrounded by Coconut Trees and beautiful planting, the driveway to the Villa itself is regal and stunning.. Peacocks, pranced across the lawns and a small troop of playful monkeys entertained us for hours as they play in the trees near our Villa. The rooms are tastefully decorated, with outdoor bathrooms that allow the rain to fall into the room, which is fitted with high quality fittings. The Chef and Staff at Handun Villas provide excellent food and 1st class service. We were impressed and would happily return.. Well Done all. Thank you Heshan Steve

Reviewed By YakkaAustralia2015Talalla Bay Beach B. & B. is very hard to beat. It occupies the most superb position right on the beautiful Talalla beach, which is one of the safest in Sri Lanka. The whole show is first class. It is my perfect retreat. The property also has a pool for the lovely dip when in need. Mr. Thomas, who runs the property, obviously knows what guests want and everything is catered for. The rooms are lovely with the front seaside rooms having the most amazing sea views. The Landside rooms are also very nice and my preference as they are only for sleeping and relaxing in and seem to be a bit cooler, so much so, that Air Con was not required. A nice breeze comes in and personally, I love them as a great place to stay and of course at a cheaper price, not having the sea view. This property is just perfect for a holiday – easy and very cheap to get to by train (Colombo to Kakanadura via Galle and a 10-minute Tuk-Tuk ride or an Express Bus, Colombo to Matara and then a 30-minute Tuk-Tuk ride to Talalla. Both journeys are good and I prefer the journey by Train for its scenic route, although it is longer in time (Check for an Express train from Colombo! The train is a great scenic experience, but bring plenty of drinking water before you start your journey. Mr. Thomas's breakfasts are the very best – I am not sure how he makes his omelet but they are truly divine and very moreish. The juice and fruit are so fresh and the bread made by the local baker in a wood-fired oven is simply out of this world! The accommodation is just what you need for a beach holiday. Simple and very elegant with divine “4 posters” traditional beds, room safes, and a good shower in the bathroom. Really I cannot think what more you would want. There is a restaurant next door serving very nice meals during the day and dinner at night and everything is catered for. There is also a good hotel up the road making the best Cocktails for those in need. If you need some retail therapy, Martara and Dikwella are a short distance away and if you wish to join the crowd, then take the express train to Galle for a great day out to see the most amazing "Heritage Listed" old Dutch Fort. This place is perfect in every way. Surfing required, then join the fun young crowd at Horseshoe Bay close (Hiriketiya Beach) close buy. There is a great atmosphere here to with some very nice places for food and drink. Visiting Sri Lanka – you do need to check this place out! Definately

Nice place but Horrible Management

But the good feelings soon vanished by the food and later the decisions taken by the "Management". About the food; When we ordered a dish of prawns, the dish was full of onions and capsicums with few prawns.... cuttlefish was not available after the 1st dish (I can't see why a villa by the see don't have seafood??) About the management: There was a serious issue with the providing the facilities and agreeing on the price. I believe as the management, they have to explain clearly what they provide for the money we pay. Sudden changes and of the pricing is not acceptable at all. Even there's a dispute, there is a way of discussing and as humans we all can understand and we are capable of resolving... But simply disconnecting the phone will don't resolve anything.. About the Service: The service staff at the hotel were friendly and flexible. Honestly, this is a great place to be (the location) and the management is ruining it... Advice: Please double-check the price and what you get before booking. Otherwise you get a call in the evening from the manager asking for additional money...

Uncomfortable Atmosphere
Reviewed By barbarastarkieExcellent Food freshly prepared for every meal....but, the manager (Kelum) had local police there everyday and night drinking, getting drunk and making alot of noise. We stayed (3nights). Kelum told us this was because he was having trouble with the local fishermen and villagers using his facilities. This is what made an uncomfortable atmosphere. The place has alot of potential and Kelum is working hard and is passionate about making improvements.

Just wonderful
Reviewed By jennycU767ONI had a truly amazing stay at Jasmine Resort. I only stayed one night, but husband and wife Chameera & Nethmi went above and beyond for me. They were some of the kindest, warmest, and most welcoming people I have met on my travels and made my stay as beautiful and comfortable as possible. The room was clean & spacious, the bed was very comfortable, and it is only a 2 minute walk to the beach. The lush garden outside was also a delight. I highly recommend staying here if you're ever in Thalalla! Thank you, Chameera & Nethmi, for your hospitality and kindness.

Reviewed By Emo1985Mi puntuación no ha podido ser otra....un merecido 10 frente a la competencia de otros hoteles que te ofrecen piscina. Aquí no es necesario porque te levantas y te caes en una de las mejores playas de Sri Lanka. Habitaciones super amplias y renovadas con una decoración exquisita y temáticas. Para obligatoría en calidad precio si no quieres dar lugar a el abuso de los resorts. Sin olvidar a sus dos maravillosos labradores que son un autentico amor de perritos. Eternamente agradecidos Gabi por enseñarnos tanto. Te deseamos la mayor de las suertes del mundo.

De studio is modern met AC en ligt in een afgesloten tuin zodat je veel privacy hebt. Je woont te midden van het échte Sri Lanka met het strand vlakbij en een korte wandeling naar locale winkels en mogelijkheid tot uithalen van eten op de grote baan. Ik raadt dit verblijf ten zeerste aan, voor mij werd het een echte 'thuis'.

Fantastic Beach and Fantastic Family

The whole family were really lovely - they made us feel welcome and comfortable to sit whether we wished within the guesthouse (they have an outside table, a big balcony and inside chairs). Our room was comfortable and had a fan which was ok for us! The beach is really stunning and is very quite at the moment which was very nice. From what we could see there was only one or two restaurants - the one in the beach front was so so so good!
