Hiking trails and art galleries abound in Stellenbosch, but it's wine that takes center stage. More than 100 wine cellars, most open to the public, surround the oak-lined South African town, and tasting tours operate daily. Winter brings a four-day festival celebrating the local vintages. The historic town center houses the trading-post style shop Oom Samie se Winkel, the Neo-Gothic Moederkerk church, and museums dedicated to toys, military memorabilia, autos and early life on the Cape.

A beautiful place to stay with stunning views and excellent accommodation The room was spacious and the bed was super comfortable. The room was neat and clean with a spacious bathroom offering luxurious bath and body products. The room I booked was with a heater and the wood was ignited whilst we were at dinner. We returned to a warm and comfortable room. The staff were friendly and very accommodating with our needs. The breakfast was delicious with generous portions. This was a great stay and we will definitely be returning

Here at Digteby Estate in Vlottenburg, a residential area in Stellenbosch, a passion for classic luxury with a contemporary flavour is fused with a unique winelands location. The prizewinning architect Hein Visser restored the old manor house brilliantly. The initial design and dimensions of the building were retained and the original walls, roof beams, door-frames, sash windows and solid kiaat doors revive a bygone era. In addition, the spacious farm house with its typical elements from the late Herbert Baker era gained a few magnificent rooms in the large roof area. There are seven en suite bedrooms in this double-story Luxury Country House. Each window offers an unobstructed view of the blue Boland Mountains. A stay in the Wild Mushroom, a uniquely South African guest house, is a visual delight and sensory experience in an exclusive, private environment.
The Wild Mushroom Luxury Country House near SPIER is nestled in a beautiful setting, peaceful and quiet. Warm welcome creates a homely atmosphere. Spacious room with lovely views of Stellenbosch's mountains, sunset and ascent is something to experience. The delicious breakfast is definitely a recommendation.

Situated at the centre of what is most certainly the most beautiful valley in the South African Winelands, lies the spectacular Banhoek Lodge. With 6 exclusive and luxurious rooms all with spectacular views over the valley and mountains, this picturesque lodge is the perfect location for relaxing and exploring the Winelands from.
We stayed in the Deluxe Suite at Banhoek lodge for 1 night. The room is 10 times better than on the photos: floor heating, heated matress, bathtub, fireplace, and a spectacualr view! We wished we stayed longer. The lodge also organized a brilliant wine tasting for us, as well as ensured the breakfast is catered for vegan options: simple, yet delicious. The service was outstanding. Highly recommend to both local and foreign visitors.

We stayed at Baruch for two nights. Sadly we had business to attend to, as our room was so beautiful, so sumptuous, that we didn't really want to leave. The softest percale bedlinen and the luxury of a well-stocked bar fridge and coffee station made us feel right at home. Our balcony overlooking the lovely garden, pool and mountains beyond was a win. Breakfast was out of this world, served by friendly and super efficient staff. We'll most definitely be back!

If you’re looking for that rare blend of contemporary comfort and old-fashioned hospitality, Summerwood Guesthouse is the perfect base from which to explore the soulful town of Stellenbosch and surrounding winelands. This late-Edwardian grand dame was built in 1904 and has since been creatively renovated to cater for the cosmopolitan tastes of the modern traveller. With its large swimming pool and location in a leafy suburb of Stellenbosch, Summerwood has become the go-to choice for visitors looking for something less formal than a hotel, but more luxurious than your run-of-the-mill guesthouse. The eight spacious rooms boast upmarket finishes and are tastefully decorated in neutral tones, while nice extras like bicycles with which to explore the charming town, air-conditioning, free WiFi, and secure off-street parking make it hard to compete with Summerwood in terms of value for money. This family-run guesthouse is a lush haven for the sophisticated traveller that seamlessly integrates the privacy and comfort of a guesthouse with the professionalism of friendly, efficient service. We are ideally situated in the JSRA Jonkershoek special rates area which provides additional security to the neighbourhood.
This is such a wonderful place to stay set in its own bit of heaven, the bedroom was perfect, the bed so so good, the breakfast off the charts and the welcome and hospitality was so so warm. Hospitality at its best. Thank you Fiona for making our time so very special.
