The 1899 Inn is in the heart of Deadwood's Presidential District, just a five-minute walk from the old mining town's Main Street saloons and major historic sites. There are six guest rooms in the main house, plus two private two-room cottages with full kitchens and living areas. All reservations include full breakfast service in the formal dining room.
We were looking for a place to stay in Deadwood and just happened upon this wonderful Bed and Breakfast. When we read reviews about Tom giving historical perspectives and the appeal of staying in an historic home as beautiful as the 1899 Inn we decided to stay there. We were so glad we did! Nyla gave us a tour of the home and showed us to our room in the attic. It was the Music Room, it was so clean, tastefully decorated, not to mention the comfortable bed which was a relief after staying in an RV for a week. Nyla told us about the highlights of the town and in the morning Tom sat with us at breakfast and gave us an education of the history of the area including some facts that he learned about Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse sculptors that he had researched while writing about them. Tom has written many books the treasures this area has to offer. Nyla is also an author and wrote a fiction book about the Lakota people. Nyla made a 5 Star breakfast for us and served us like royalty. All we can say is, Thank you for your amazing hospitality!

The Historic Victorian Inn is a place to call home and relax when you are traveling or just want a night away. With a large wrap around porch you may sit and listen to the pond or perhaps enjoy the patio with an outdoor fireplace. You are sure to feel at home! Located right next to the Pettigrew Museum. Walking distance to The Falls Park and downtown area. There many activities such as the sculpture walk, many shops and restaurants and live music on the weekends just to name a few. All guests rooms are uniquely decorated and have private baths, queen size beds, mini fridge, WIFI are just a few. This beautiful historic home was built in 1888 and is the perfect to host any special event, family reunion or an intimate wedding. The large parlor area complete with a gas fireplace is filled with charm and large enough to accommodate 30+ people. You can rent the main floor by the hour or book the entire home including all guest rooms and main floor indoor/outdoor areas.
We have stayed at the Historic Victorian multiple times, and it is always a pleasant experience. The home is comfortable, the kitchen is well-equipped, the porch is relaxing, and the grounds are well-kept. The owner is very helpful and communicative with any minor issues that may pop up. We love the location, as it's centrally located and an easy walk to downtown for shopping, dining, and nightlife. If you are looking for a unique experience instead of a chain hotel, you will love The Vic!

A clean motel(cleaner than most big city motels) on the way to Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone. Reasonable 30-90 dollars compared to Rapid City 70-300 and Chamberlain 60-130 depending on season. Full hot breakfast raved about by many.
Exceptionally clean room. Beds were wonderful. The owner couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. It was a great place, very reasonably priced and would definitely recommend it. A jewel in the very small town of Kennebec.

There's so much to do and see and Sweetgrass' location is very convenient - within 1-49 miles of all the Black Hills attractions. Sweetgrass offers you beautifully appointed rooms, many amenities, several breakfast choices every day (served over the course of several hours) and much more. We're 6 miles south of Rapid City in a little valley as you head into the Black Hills towards Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse. Each room has a private bath (some have a jetted spa tub), flat screen TV/DVD combo, coffee/tea tray, loveseat and a table with chairs and/or a desk. Your memories start when you check in to the Sweetgrass. When you leave, take with you pleasant memories of your visit to Sweetgrass and the remarkable Black Hills of South Dakota.
When I could not find a hotel for our trip to Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse, I came upon this gem and was so glad I did! The price was even better than some hotels and it was just what we needed for our trip! We ate at their restaurant for dinner, which was really good, when we checked in the first night. Our room was so nice, quiet and secluded...it didn't feel like we had anyone around us and the bed was so comfortable! For breakfast each morning, you went back to their restaurant. The food was really good and everyone was so nice! It was the perfect driving distance to exploring the towns around, Custer, Keystone...and very close to both Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse!

If there was a time warp back to 1970's perhaps this motel would be ok. BUT it is not 1970. If you like sleeping in 40 years of dust, trying to was your face in a sink the size of a baby tub, then this place is for you! The bed was not a KING which we asked for. The noise from the cars going by all night on their way to Central City and Lead kept us up. And THEN if you want to leave and find another place to stay THEY KEEP ALL YOUR FUNDS. It was the worst experience ever. Seriously Run for the HILLS Lots of great other places to stay in DeadWood.

Had to do a late check in because the hotel down the street messed up our reservation. So glad we came here!! The lady was so nice, rooms were clean and we had to get up super early for a hike. The beds slept well, overall an amazing experience!! Would definitely come back and stay while traveling through here.

I stayed here for a couple days in mid May while exploring the southern Black Hills area. I stayed in the "Cozy Cabin" which was perfect for me as a single traveler. Cabin is small but I enjoyed it as I wasn't spending much time just hanging in the cabin. The grounds were well maintained and a creek runs right thru the property which was a nice place too sit after a long day. The host was very welcoming and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when back in the area.

We were on vacation, had trouble with a boat trailer, thunderstorms, needed a quick place to stop for the night that was pet friendly. Not a lot of options in Platte. We were very happy with King's Inn. The price was reasonable. The added cost for a dog was reasonable. The rooms were clean. The staff was helpful. Our air-conditioner wouldn't come on, but the staff was there in moments to get it running. Someone had run off with the bathtub drain plug, but the staff was quick to find another. The breakfast was average (mostly carbs), but it was served on real china! It was an adequate breakfast. Nothing fancy. The motel is not new. If you are looking for a glitzy chain motel this is not it. (But then, there is nothing like that in Platte anyway). But the motel is well cared for and neat. The family who owns/runs the hotel is helpful. I am sure (Platte being what it is) that much of their business is during pheasant season. They even have a dog washing building to clean your dogs after a long day in the field.
