We were positively surprised as we arrived at the guesthouse. The common area is big, clean and organized. The rooms were simple but tidy and had comfy beds. Be reminded that it's very normal in Korea to find small towels (for western standards) and wet bathrooms (with no glass door for the shower). Having said that, it's a great choice for Sokcho, for location, value and cleanliness. The hosts are also very helpful and breakfast simple, but good enough, with toasts, coffee and cereals. Would definitely stay again.

I had the absolute privilege to stay at Seorak Park Resort, located at 11, Cheongbong-ro 6-gil, Sokcho, Gangwon-do 24904, South Korea for total of 4 nites from October 26-29, 2017. I went to South Korea for the 16th Pan Asia Hash, which was attended by over 3,000 people from all over the world. When I was planning my booking, I had no idea where to stay. But I got lucky as there was a hotel offer on makemytrip. I am so glad I booked and stayed at Seorak Park Resort. The hotel is well located, around 3 kms from Sokcho Outdoor Stadium, where our event took place. THE ROOM: My room was wonderfully appointed with 2 separate beds, an LED TV (very few English channels) and a separate sparkling bathroom. Like the rest of the resort, the room was spotless clean and smelled nice too. There was a fluffy blanket and nice pillows in each bed. THE FOOD My package included Korean breakfast, which is toasted bread, coffee, orange juice and frosted sweet cereal. The food was excellent through and through. On the last day of my stay, the resort prepared some amazing dishes which included Korean fish, kimchee, soup, etc… It was more like a lunch buffet, but for breakfast, and tasted excellent. THE HOSTS The owners of the resort, husband and wife team, don’t speak any English, but they do understand and practice the language of hospitality. Communicating with them was never a problem as they have English to Korean translating app on their phone. Further, Koreans are extremely polite people and the ones who know English go out of their way to help to translate. I was a little drunk when I checked out at 2:00 in the morning. As I was waiting for my taxi, which was arranged by the owner, I had to throw up. I ran outside and vomited on their flower bed. I saw the owner running out after me. I thought it was to scold me for throwing up on his flower bed. But I was wrong. The owner had come out with some water and tissue so that I could clean myself. This was an amazing act of goodness and kindness on the part of the owner of Seorak Park Resort that I will cherish as long as I live. Two British ladies staying there also informed me that the owner dropped them to the stadium in his car when they missed the last bus. THE VERDICT: Those who are going to Sokcho for the 2018 Winter Olympics and the 2018 Winter Paralympics, taking place in Pyeongchang, can stay in Seorak Park Resort. I am so glad I got to stay at Seorak Park Resort and I highly recommend this place to stay. I’ve travelled a lot in my days and in some places I stayed at, the place was awesome, but the people running the show were not caring. In other places, the owners were nice but the resort was not. Seorak Park Resort is the perfect blend of excellent comforts and food and very good hosts. I will always treasure my stay at Seorak Park Resort, as it was truly memorable. I’m giving my stay at Seorak Park Resort a perfect 5 out of 5 based on their outstanding Korean hospitality. Stephen Joseph, Bangalore Indiia

We were an American family touristing in Seoul who wanted to do a 2-day, 1-night trip to the infamous countryside of Korea. We needed a day to drive to Sokcho and enjoy the beach in the evening, spend the night, and then visit Seoraksan National Park the next day and head back to Seoul. We wanted a more traditional feel and this hotel had photos of sleeping mats rather than mattresses, which is what we wanted! We arrived in a rental car (really the only way here, but plenty of free parking space), gave our name for the reservation, and were showed to our home-like room up some stairs. Korean-style with a designated space to kick off shoes before you enter the room. Spacious with a separate sleeping space, kitchen, bathroom, and living room amenities. Incredible price! Removable shower head, hot water, and wifi, easy to use AC and heat were available. Sleeping on the mats and setting up the blankets was easy and fun! And when you arrive, incense was lit to indicate we were occupying that room. The owners were so hospitable and kind and made sure we were safe and taken care of. It was such a grounding and homey-experience after a week in bustling non-stop Seoul! The hotel views from the window were not a highlight (we were too tired and enjoyed sleeping on mats too much to care), but the location and things nearby were totally worth it. Very safe location. Near other quaint hotels as well. All are near a babbling creek that is beautifully lit at night and leads to the ocean in Sokcho. We would come back in a heartbeat! Probably our favorite place to sleep in all of Korea!

The best thing about this hotel is the super friendly and helpful owner. He went out of his way to answer our questions. The location was also good as it was close to bus stops to get downtown or to the national park. The rooms were also very clean. In regards to negatives, the hotel has small rooms, hard beds and small towels. The breakfast is also very limited (toast, hard boiled eggs, soup, coffee, tea and juice) and it does't start until 8 am. The hotel itself warrants 3 stars but I am giving it an extra star due to the owner's wonderful hospitality.

I traveled to Sokcho for many times and stayed both in the town and in the mountain Sorak. Hangang Park Motel where is near Mt. Sorak national park, surrounded with mountain and a river, managed by Korean family who can not speak English very well. Especially the old lady communicated with her guests via translate application from her cell phone and did her best to help and give all information to guests. Their staffs' service mind and intention to treat all guest as their relatives make all guests impressive and back to visit them soon.
