The hotel and restaurant « Le Clos de la Vaupalière », offer you quality, confort and quieteness. It is ideally located only 5 minutes drive from Rouen, the “city with the 100 churches”, famous for being Victor Hugo’s favourite place. Rouen has maintained its heritage with its winding paved streets, its old bespoke buildings and its famous “Gros Horloge”, For those who prefer the great outdoor, the forest of Roumare is only 2 minutes drive from the hotel.
We booked for the last night of our French holiday, en route to Calais but wanted to pick somewhere a bit nicer than the usual transit hotel, as the weather was looking good and it meant the children could have a swim whilst we had a beer and a relaxing final night. Good Stuff - The hotel itself is, as others mention, in an odd location on an industrial estate - but once you're on the site, you don't notice that - the grounds are lovely. The receptionist was friendly, and the room was spotlessly clean, with very comfortable beds. We were asked to pay on arrival as nobody would be on reception on the Sunday. Bad Stuff - there is no pool. If you look up reviews on Google you can see there are pictures uploaded by the hotel of their swimming pool, but when we got there it was a dirty hole in the ground with a "no swimming" sign next to it. Now, to be fair, their website doesn't list a pool - but their own photos uploaded to Google do. There is no restaurant and the bar isn't open at weekends. This means there is literally nothing to do on site at the weekend. You have to travel to Rouen to get anything to eat, and even when you've done that, you can't get a beer when you're back in the hotel - the bar was all closed up with nobody around. Whilst the room was spotless and comfortable, there was coffee and tea provided, but no way of boiling water. I don't know if this was COVID related, but this wasn't mentioned or noted anywhere. No Air Con either, just so you know. When we got to the hotel, the room wasn't actually ready, though it didn't take long for the friendly receptionist to sort out (I actually get the sense they'd lost our booking but didn't tell us). We also realised later in the Saturday that we were not in the room we had booked or paid for - we had paid for a Prestige room that should have been bigger and with it's own Terrace - we didn't get that. But to be honest, after ten hours driving and having unpacked before we realised, we didn't have the energy to re-pack. I would have brought it up on check out, but of course, reception was unmanned on the Saturday So, with all this, essentially what should have been a great relaxing evening having a few beers whilst the kids had a swim, ended up being in a too-small hotel room, drinking Beer out a can bought from Carrefour, whilst the kids stared at their tablets because there was nothing else to do. The hotel is a beautiful place to get married and I am sure is better midweek. But at the weekends, I'd save a heap of cash and just book yourself into an Ibis at the side of the Autoroute, at least you'll get what you pay for and won't leave disappointed. The place felt completely deserted, literally like everyone goes home on a Friday night and doesn't come back until the Monday morning.

I have stayed here a number of times, solo and also with my son. On this visit it was good to see that the rooms have been redecorated and upgraded with a new bathroom, decent shower, new window and a comfortable bed. The heating appeared to be on 24 hours a day and it was very warm. Each day a fresh bottle of Evian was left in the room. Breakfast was good quality, with fresh fruit, cereal, orange juice nice yoghurt, fresh croissants and more . Dinner really excellent, I had the demi pension which makes it much easier to choose because not only could I have eaten everything on the menu but what I did have was some of the best food I have had anywhere. Unlike other comments I had no problem regarding the attitude of the staff, perhaps it's their reaction to arrogant English visitors! Lovely surroundings, totally peaceful and a genuine quality experience!

We only stayed one night on our way home to the UK after holidaying in Bordeaux. The Golf Hotel is positioned at the top of Le Tréport within its own wooden grounds and the detached chalets have their own parking space which is very convenient. Our welcome host on reception was most helpful, explaining how to get down to Le Tréport harbour by means of the cable car which is a short walk away from the hotel. The room itself was well appointed, our only negative would be the lack of a duvet instead a really old fashioned blanket and sheet. Having said that the bed was a super king size and very comfortable. The room could do with a kettle, with tea/coffee making facilities but we know this is probably just a UK offering and not usual in European hotels. Before departing we had the continental breakfast which was served in a room adjoining the reception area, adequate but lacking in a variety of cold meats mainly cheese. Thanks for an enjoyable one nights stay

A cosy B&B in the centre of Étretat, in a quiet side street situated a safe distance from the hectic seafront. The owner runs an antiques business: the furnishing and decor are resolutely traditional, with old-fashioned bath tub. The owner is alert and communicative.

In old farm, the "Granges du Bout de la Ville" are apartments with two levels, arranged in dependances surround by large park down to the river Clérette. On ground floor, the living room has small kitchen, fire-place, TV and WiFi connexion. Bathroom and toilets are private.Up stairs, bedroom is quiet. It's very easy to leave the car on private parking, to walk to the village where all kinds of shops, swimming-pool, health walk around lake, firemen museum, market are animated.
We have stayed here on four occasions, while travelling to and from campsites in France. Both times we have found it to be a perfect place to relax after travelling. The apartment we had was big enough for a family of four and the children had their own 'space' upstairs. During our last stay we were next to the stream, which was just beautiful to look out on and I happen to love the sound of water. The owner is very helpful and attentive and always welcomes us with a smile. If you are looking for somewhere you can plug into a tablet/laptop and expect the luxury of five stars, it might not be what you are looking for. If you are looking for somewhere with character in pretty countryside with a welcoming owner - who is very encouraging with any attempts to speak French, I can recommend it!

Simply perfect stop off on the way to the Charente. We have been coming here for two years and have enjoyed the food, comfy bed and hospitality in every way. Horses in the paddock, chickens ambling in the playground and around the courtyard make for a friendly farm-like haven. For a family of 4 this ideal.

It is an interesting place, the bedrooms are quirky . The breakfast was amazing and first class. It was a shame we were not very hungry. I am not sure I would recommend it as it was expensive, the drive to the parking is challenging. It is better to go with a small car. At that price, you may as well stay in a hotel and be free.
