Gym extremely loud And felt completely lost walking up and the flight of narrow stairs like I'm in a morgue. Other places way nicer where I dont feel like I'm in living in the locker rooms of a gym

An excellent service and food at Casa Strela. The fish of the day menu was delicious so was the homemade icecream. Top!
Reviewed By Pia BWe came for dinner in the restaurant and had a delicious “fish of the day” menu and homemade chocolate icecream for dessert, which were one of the best meals we have had in Tarrafal. We got An eceptional good service from the girl working there ☺️ and the atmosphere was relaxing. If you go to Tarrafal you must visit!

Hôtel avec Piscine froide et internet disponible uniquement sur la terrasse Le gérant parle un peu français Chambre propre et nettoyée tous les jours Petit déjeuner copieux et varié L’hôtel ne propose pas de déjeuner ou dîner, il faut donc aller dans le centre ville qui se situe à 10-15 min à pied selon la vitesse car c’est une ville en hauteur avec de belles pentes et descentes. Petit bémol : dans la chambre il y’avait une bouteille d’eau sur lequel aucun prix n’était indiqué, je pensais que c’était offert mais à la fin du séjour le gérant me dit que cette bouteille d’eau est payante, j’ai pas trouvé ça cool. Petite histoire : Manque d’empathie de la part du gérant, on devait venir me chercher à 21h , je demande donc au gérant si je peux rester dans la chambre sachant que je dois partir qu’à 21h celui m’a répondu non car l’hôtel était complet. J’ai du quitter la chambre à 12h et du me changer au bord de la piscine sans avoir pu me laver sous 30 degrés . Et bien étant rester toute la journée et soirée à l’hôtel je peux vous dire que personne à part moi n’y a mis les pieds ! Hôtel complet ?!

absolutely terrible
Reviewed By HansA1013long wait for signing in. room 202 2x3.5 m, no real windows (small inner court with smells). one 1 3W bulb not LED for the entire room. very dark, impossible to read. no bulb in second lamp. inconfortable bed. only boiling water for shower, not possible to shower. upon complaining they made jokes between themselves about myself. after 36 hours somebody finally came (after 3 complaints) and realized that not only there was only boiling water but that also the sink was clogged. ultraslow lift. breakfast without coffee, cheese etc at 7 am. some coffee arrived at 7.30 when i had to leave.

Reviewed By oliver-k6We spent five nights in this hotel and were very satisfied. The hotel is located close to the beach and the city centre. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was big, the bed very comfortable and everything very clean. Also the internet connection was very good. They offered free water in the lobby, which was great. We could pay our stay in Euros with the exchange rate you get in the bank, which was very fair. We only have two suggestions for improvement: 1. It's a pity that the breakfast officially starts at 8 a.m. but guest are only served from about 8:15 a.m. There is no buffet and guest are not served all at once but bit by bit. Therefore, the breakfast takes quite a long time, which is no problem if one has no plans for the day. But as we sometimes had booked excursions that started at 8:45 or 9:00 in the morning, we had to eat very fast, which wasn't pleasant. It would therefore be nice if breakfast started earlier and/or guests were served faster. 2. On the second day the cleaning lady threw away our soap and we didn't get a new one the whole week. Furthermore, the cleaning lady threw away the package of my eye drops from the bedside table. It would therefore be nice if the cleaning ladies were better instructed. However, as I said, overall we were very satisfied and would definitely come back.

Reviewed By KjjtjdHotel was amazing in ways, lovely pools and staff.. let down by the maids who only put 1 clean towel in your room each day if your lucky. The amount of times we had to wait a hour for just a towel, became a joke. Food was a let down. For English eaters there was only plain pasta and basically salad and bread. We got a bit sad by this, and there isn’t a shop that sells your essentials so make sure you bring everything. And the hotel broke my suitcase on delivery to our room. But w shave had fun, the beach is nice at late afternoon, they have a sax player or a dj on, while you watch the sun set. I don’t think I will return to this hotel, but it’s defo worth staying in.. just a few things need changing here and there. The town is scary at first, but then it’s fine, not many places to eat, but if you find the right ones, delicious

Reviewed By kiukwI had no lodge when I arrived to Tarrafal from Porto Mosquito and Cidade Velha. So, the usual move: look for a place with wifi to have a drink and look for options. I found a very interesting hotel by the sea in Tarrafal. But they had no availability in any of the OTAs they worked with and there seemed that hotel had not their own site. And of course I was not going to pay again the walk-in BAR. So I looked for another option. Two different OTAs recommended this one due to the location. The hotel promotes itself as having sea views. You could even see some photos portrating the beach on the OTAs sites. I really wanted to stay by the sea, but considering the lodge location on the map, it was quite obvious the hotel was not going to have the sea views they were using to lure you. 'Well' --I thought-- 'maybe I can see the sea... from a far distance'. And yes: I could see a thin blue line far on the horizon. But that was it. The hotel location is horrible. Dark at nights, in a non-paved road with literally nothing interesting around. No restaurants, bars, shops; nothing. If you don't have a car you are definitely not doing 0.5 miles (750 mts) on foot to get to downtown from there at night. --And reception closes at 10.30 pm, so forget about a taxi; your only choice is to stay around downtown till late and then cross your fingers hopping to find a taxi -- and I do not remember to see many of them around Tarrafal. I had some work to do. So, well, at least the hotel had wi-fi in all rooms. But no. Again a temporary problem which only allowed you to connect from the lobby. That's when I learned you don't have to expect for wi-fi while in Africa unless you are staying in an international branded hotel or similar. And then: breakfast. It was supposed to be served at 7 am. I had to wait till 7.30 to have breakfast the first day --about which I saw some reviews stating it was plentiful. 'Plentiful' is not exactly the word I would use to describe it. It was fine, better than in some other places I stayed while in Senegal, but never plentiful. Well, the story is I asked the lady who prepared the breakast to have a cup of coffee and a sandwich ready for 7 am the day after --I needed to be in the airport in Praia at 9 am. She said she would have something ready. And, guess what? As I think I was the only guest that day, she would not even bothered to open the dinnig room to prepare breakfast. All the doors closed --including reception, which opens at 8.00 am. Shameful. Rooms were at least ok --that's why I am not giving a worst rate to this place. Plenty of room, nice furniture and ok sleep. The rooms are in fact apartments --quite affordable, by the way. But this means you don't have your apartment done next morning. So, considering everything, I would never recommend this place to anyone going to Tarrafal. Never. P.S.: by the way: the Sofa is trendy but not cozy to relax a little bit and watch TV at the end of the day --too short I could not fit. Since this is an apartment, rooms are not equipped with TV. And the only TV available wasn't working. Only ONE channel available. Shameful.
