10 Top-Rated Bed and Breakfast Inns in Portsmouth, Hampshire, England

April 24, 2023 Mikaela Didonna

Boasting a historical dockyard housing Henry VIII’s Mary Rose and Lord Nelson’s HMS Victory, Portsmouth has maritime heritage written all over it. Museums aside, the city still lives and breathes the sea—best exemplified in its nautical spirit, cobbled historic district, and sail-shaped Spinnaker Tower viewpoint.

Great bacon and egg sandwich

Reviewed By M8007RMglennh

I was vising Gunwharf Quays early one morning and needed a place to have breakfast/coffee and do a little bit of work. I stumbled across the Keppels Head Hotel which if i recall correctly serves breakfast from 07:30 for non-residents. Ordered a bacon and fried egg sandwich, have to say the bread was soft and nicely buttered, the eggs fried well with runny yolks, coupled with plenty of bacon all washed down with a cup of coffee. Service was friendly and efficient too. Prices were very reasonable too. When i visit Portsmouth again i will no doubt call in and see what a full English is like. Definitely worth dropping in.

Room excellent standard and appreciated the bottles of water by the bed. Would rather have a bathroom rather than a wet room but was ok for one night. Also bed is quite small in length. Amazing ambience and cocktails in bistro/bar downstairs. Did not hear any noise from the bedroom. The staff we came into contact with were so helpful and friendly. Breakfast was one of the best I’ve had. The only small point was the mushrooms were cooked in a green oil which soaked into the bread. Delicious choice of coffee. Lots of on street paid parking opposite hotel. Amazing stay and would highly recommend. Perfectly located. Thank you for a wonderful stay and will certainly be returning and recommending.

Hi! I'm Milene and I stayed at this hotel with my sister and niece, we all enjoyed our stay: 1- all photos match what we found, everything we need for meals, washing clothes, brand new towels, everything clean 2 - The quality of service from all employees is exceptional. Everyone was warm, friendly and thoughtful. 3 - This is a very well located hotel, close to tourist attractions and 15 minutes walk from the city centre, but for any eventuality you have a shop in the hotel building open until 11 pm. 4 - excellent value for the delivery made, will recommend to friends and family.

I wrote a review back in January, saying I would most definitely be returning. Booked my husbands 50th birthday celebration for 21 people and I was not disappointed. The staff allowed us to decorate, they were helpful from day one until we left after the celebrations finished. Food was absolutely amazing! We ordered 3 courses and every meal was delivered promptly and didn’t have to wait long before the next course. Thank you for making our evening special.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
