Everything we could wish for. Lovely clean room, welcoming hosts even though we don't speak Spanish/Catalan - the husband speaks French which helped! The windows have a fly screen which really helped! We arrived without booking and it was 66 euros for one night including a generous breakfast and we ate there in the evening too the food was great. Nice looking swimming pool and plenty of parking.

This place is a gem. The room was very cozy and clean. The hosts are friendly and gave information about what to do. Breakfast was super. Many animals are at the property and the place is child friendly.

Located at the entrance to the south side Gironella, in what today is the main street of Gironella, Catalonia Avenue, at No.14 We found the building. On the ground floor is the restaurant "El Celler de la Merce " where they can do both breakfast and lunch and dinner. On the first floor is the Hostal 1888, recently opened. It has 4 bedrooms, three doubles and one quadruple. The rooms have the charm that gives being in a historic building, but with careful rehabilitation integrates today. Two rooms are facing up to the shed and have a terrace overlooking the river Llobregat and the medieval town of Gironella . The other two face the main street Gironella, Catalonia Avenue. Each room is named with a feature of the medieval village of Gironella. All this make Hostel 1888 space modern design, built inside a historic building with all amenities both residential and restoration for a quality stay with its own very distinct personality. The building was an old inn in the beginning, later became a restaurant and then Breweries. In one of the dining old boots, witness the local origins remain.
Overpriced, dreary, soul-less room that at least has air-conditioning—if you can et it to work— and decent wi-fi. Toilet and shower both needed repair. People who run the place, as a part time hobby, it seems, may not reply to email answer the phone, so good luck gaining access. The picture with the yellow spread, sure does not look like the room I had!

I can highly recommend Hostal Pericas. It is placed in an old building and has rather old furniture in most of the rooms. Nevertheless, I give it 5 stars because it is very authentic, clean and placed in the very center of old village, next to medieval bridge. The female host spoke perfect English, which was rather rare in the country side of Catalunya. She was able to give us many insider knowledge about the surrounding. This is something we appreciate a lot. Last but not least, I would like to mention the food in restaurant placed in the basement of the hostal. It was great, authentic and just delicious, with view on the bridge. We enjoyed the atmosphere of an authentic Catalan restaurant. As many natives visit the restaurant for lunch and dinners on that weekend we spend there, I am sure that the place is appreciated by the locals as well. I would call it an insider tip!

We've reserved a room there to chill and enjoy the nature before heading to the slopes of Andora. Nature is astonishing, the house - masia itself is amazingly built up and organised, the family who runs the property is very kind and welcoming, taking care of your needs and making your stay as great as possible. We had wonderful dinner, fish which was so fresh and tasty, and I don't remember how much of red wine we have drunk, it was sooo good, and....so cheap.. Heartily recommend this pearl of the Pyrenees!

I have slept one night here during my trip crossing the Pyrenees by mountain bike. The room was not so big but comfortable and clean. The staff was so nice to prepare an excellent lunch also if it was late in the afternoon. The location was perfect to restart the trip the next morning and I was able to sleep very well. You are a walking distance from the center of the village and in the evening you have some alternatives for the dinner by the fact the internal restaurant is closed. Thanks to the staff for the hospitality.

Small hotel in the medieval village.
I was in Niu Descans with my wife and children (3 year old, 3 month old). It's a great place to stay for the price, the rooms were very big. We chose the two single beds, as it ws the biggest, and asked for an extra bed for our 3 year old and a baby cot for the 2 month old, and we still had a lot of extra room. All the area is very quiet at night.

Amazing location, superb view on the mountain, overall decent hotel. Rather unhelpful staff if you don’t speak Catalan. We stayed 2 nights and I was kept awake by insistent perpetual barking of dogs. I understand this usually is part of country living but this sounded like a dog in distress. For hours and hours, both nights.

The location is without a doubt breath taking, however the same cannot be said for the hotel . The reception staff was utterly wonderful so this is no reflection on her. Upon arriving to the hotel all the communal areas looked ok in the night. We arrived to the room, I found 2 spiders (the webs hadn't even been cleared ) a huge flying bug on our pillow. This was our arrival gift? The floors were dusty and full of grit, my socks were filthy as you could not walk bare foot. The bedding and facilities were fine, but the cleanliness of the room was very disappointing. The time we were was pretty cold and I was hoping for a hot shower, only to have a horrid luke warm shower, it was the worst for me, as I hate being cold, and i don't even have cold showers in the heat of the summer. Finally upon leaving (thankfully we only stayed one night ) we approached the lifts and i went to look out the window, to my disgust the floors and window ledges were covered in dead flies and other insects. Overall wasn't great, cleaning staff need to be questioned as they are the ones i felt let this hotel down immensely .
