I would have rated this place slightly better if it was not for noise endured especially early morning and during the day. The acoustics in this place would put the best concert hall to shame, the noise from reception, the overheard conversations and the constant clanging of dishes being washed spoiled the one night we stayed. Our room was right next to reception and people were constantly walking up and down too. The door to our room was a bit iffy lock wise and badly needed some sound proffing. Windows badly needed a clean and mould was quite evident in the upper panes. Apart from all the above the room was huge with a fair size bathroom area and also a small supplementary sitting room too although just basic wooden chairs and table. A great little garden area to enjoy a free coffee and access to the parking area was easy too. Location is quite handy to a few restaurants and bars and the market and pier. Maybe there better rooms in the place, certainly do not take the ground floor one next to reception.

To BOOK ROOMS we prefer email. We always answer within 6 hours. See our website. Mut Mee Guest House is located in a beautiful garden beside the Mekong River in the middle of Nong Khai Town. Here we have pretty rooms, a full restaurant, yoga instruction, meditation, massage, and two bookshops. Nong Khai is famous for its extraordinary Sculpture Park, with some sculptures over seven stories high and the Phu Pra Bat Historical Park where people lived 3,500 years ago. Famous throughout Thailand is the Tha Sadej Market in the centre of town. The University boasts an aquarium with 2 meter long giant catfish in a walk through tank. Nong Khai is often known as Naga City as it has more than 500 Naga sculptures throughout the town.
Arrived here first visit well into my 2nd month of Thai travel. Occupancy here post Covid was spotty at best. Thai’s still under mandatory mask law. Mostly Brits and Thai’s vacationing. I stayed in one of the pricier rooms with a/c and a view but pricier here is still a bargain at $25 US a night. The room was modest in size but plenty big for one person with an equally well sized bathroom. Good size balcony at entrance facing river. Great working small fridge. A/c was weak but powerful fan made up for it. Shower and toilet both good. Bed Thai very firm. Housekeeping very friendly and efficient as were all front desk staff. The grounds are nicely decorated with natural vegetation and assorted artwork. There are several covered areas to plug in laptops and iPhones while you stay out of your room. With a decent amount of rain in May, the mosquitoes were bothersome even during the day, anywhere there was shade. One of my biggest disappointments was finding out the restaurant was closed indefinitely and had been for sometime. There is no mention of that on Hotels.com and in fact the amazing International restaurant is mentioned four times. That’s an issue. I strategically stay where I can eat breakfast as opposed to having to leave the property to travel who knows how far to eat. Fortunately there is great breakfast on a limited menu at Macky’s a 15 minute walk on the river. Let me just get a couple more negatives out of the way so we can finish on a high note. There is a neighbor adjacent to to the property, only an arms length away, with several dogs and some domestic issues. I stayed several nights and was woken every night, more than once, by either the dogs, yelling, music or all of the above. I live in the city with obnoxious neighbors and I have dogs so the dogs didn’t really phase me but the neighbors screaming at 6am was way past annoying. Not Mut Mees fault by any means but like the restaurant that really isn’t open . . . Guests need to know before they come. One last thing that is a Thai staple is lizards; the small, medium & large Ching Chok. The hotel is a really beautiful rustic group of buildings. I love the tile work in the bathroom and especially the very unique shower. Because of the thatched roof and some deterioration around the roof line, my unit was very accessible to lizards. I don’t have a problem with lizards per say, I just don’t like them in the room. Yes they eat bugs including mosquitoes and the many ants that gather at the bathroom sink but I would rather deal with a couple of bugs than the mess the lizards make with their droppings. It’s on the walls , floor, my bed cover, the bathroom sink and in my soap dish. Yes I’ve seen my share ofThai lizards but this became an unhealthy environment. Once again out of the control of the owners to curb the potty geckos with the rustic construction but something to consider. That aside, after spending a great deal of time walking around the the city and the riverfront, in my opinion Mut Mee has the best central location to everything that’s happening; direct waterfront, the extremely long boardwalk (promenade) with several restaurants at one end plus a good sized enclosed street market running behind the restaurants and extending even farther. If you like walking or biking for exercise it’s a great location combined with a variety of restaurant choices and shopping next to the Mekong. If not for my few negatives I would easily give this lodging 5 stars instead of 4. A good hotel doesn’t have to resemble the Hilton to earn 5 stars if it’s got character and charm and employees that greet you every day with a smile and the sincere desire to ensure you’re happy.

We book the most expensive one and found that it is bright, spacious and nice. staff are friendly and smiling and willing to give the service they can. Breakfast is ok but coffee is not as good. I asked for fresh coffee but need to wait for later as staff who prepare comes later around 09.00 but we need to leave for other area. So far so good for the area around nong Khai. Owner is nice and very helpful.

Crystal Nongkhai hotel is situated conveniently in a prime location of Nong Khai. It's just a 3 minute walk from Asawaan Shopping Complex and a few minute walk from Prajak Road, one of the main streets in Nong Khai. We are a new family-run hotel with a friendly and comfortable atmosphere.
Crystal Palace Hotel is centrally located, conveniently very close to the Tesco Lotus shopping centre. I arrived very late and the one staff was very helpful. I booked the larger Superior room for 760 baht and it was really nice. The bathroom was clean and modern with an enclosed shower. A hot water kettle and coffee were available. The breakfast was very good. WiFi worked well. However the TV had few English stations and only the indigestible Fox News. There is also a parking lot.

This is such an amazing hotel that is well maintained and run by a family who are super friendly, kind and helpful. I got a free pick up and drop from the train station, breakfast was amazing, rooms are super clean, quiet and safe. The hotel is situated on the Mekong River, not too far from the Thai-Laos border post. They have a pool which is great for those hot days. The owners are very happy to help you plan your sightseeing in Nong kai and will give you advice on how best to get done what you have planned. I really enjoyed my stay here and I would recommend it if you’re planning a night or 3 in Nong Kai :)

This small guesthouse has a lot going for it. The staff are friendly, it has a great location on the Mekong, and the rooms are large and comfortable. The wifi was also fast ans reliable. The one negative was a strong smell of urine that seemed to come up from the drain in the bathroom. Keeping the bathroom door closed helped with this. Nong Khai is an underrated town, so stopping for a night or two at the Pan guesthouse is a great idea.
