Offering beautiful views of the changing seasons in the Iya Valley, hotel Iya Onsen provides Japanese-style accommodation, natural hot spring baths and free-use bicycles. Rooms come with Free Wi-Fi, and the hotel offers a shuttle to/from JR Ooboke Station. Japanese-style hot spring hotel Iya Onsen is a 15-minute drive from the Kazura-bashi Bridge, and a 30-minute drive from Oboke-kyo Canyon. Ooboke Station is a 30-minute drive away. Elegant Japanese-style rooms overlook the valley from a seating area at the large windows. They come with a cosy tatami (woven mat) floor and Japanese futon bedding. Amenities include an LCD TV, a CD player and a mini-fridge, while bathroom facilities are shared. Guests can relax in one of Iya Onsen's spacious public hot springs, enjoy the special footbath, or take the complimentary cable car to the hot spring in the valley. The hotel houses a souvenir shop and drink vending machines. Japanese meals are served at the dining room. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, foggy morning views can be enjoyed at breakfast, while dinner may feature views of the valley in the soft glow of the setting sun.
The hot springs on the river side of the valley bottom were wonderful and I could feel the original Japanese hot springs. If you plan to stay, you should request a room with a view. Meals are O.K., but it's an unexplored region, so you shouldn't expect too much cooking level.

HOTEL Highway 32 from Awa-Ikeda interchange or Otoyo cho interchange.
Hotel is just 5mins drive from Oboke station, we requested for shuttle pick up from the hotel prior to our arrival. Very large spread for the breakfast, they even provide english description and explanation of what every dish is, very meticulous. Hotel is just opposite the pleasure boat cruise and they offered a discount coupon to us when we checked in. This area is generally very quiet with not much touristy stuff around, on our first night we had to walk 30 mins to get to a local supermarket to get some food because we did not reserve the hotel's dinner. On our second night, we asked the counter if there was any convenience store nearby like 7-11 or lawsons to get our dinner, and they immediately arranged for their shuttle van to send us there and back. Very good service. So if you are planning to stay here for many nights, either you book the hotel's dinner in advance or pack your own cup noodles from other cities. The restaurant opposite the hotel closes early at 5pm. After 5pm ,the streets are pretty much empty and dark. Note that there is a onsen charge of 150 yen per person per night. We weren't aware of this when we booked the hotel through 2nd party sites and wasn't told by the staff when we checked in either. Even if you do not use the onsen, you still have to pay for the 150 yen. Thankfully it is not a big amount but I just wished the staff told us on the day we checked in so that we could have make full use of the onsen..

We stayed one night and have the stay package that included both dinner and breakfast. The hotel is quite well located and can easily access boh both Iya East and West also close to Kazurabashi Bridge. Free parking is available onsite. We reserved the room that have a special Ceramic Tub for the onsen. The room is quite big, in traditional Japanese style and it's in clean. The private onsen is located on the balcony, so as the shower. It was a bit cold when we took the shower but the view of the onsen, overseeing the Iya Vally is totally worth it. The meals are very delicious and also showcase the valley's local produce and culinary tradition. Staff are friendly and also speak okay English.

We stayed at the Kazuraya inn and had a fabulous experience! The food was excellent and unique. And even though we aren't real onsen people, we loved the onsen there. The family that runs Kazuraya is really kind and we look forward to our next visit!

A three night stay at this ryokan and spa was a highlight of our trip. The Iya Valley location is among the most rural in Japan. But the room, service, food and the onsen were impeccable, sophisticated and worthy of an expensive city hotel. Each night’s dinner and breakfast was served with charm and warmth and the food was beautifully prepared. The room had a balcony looking at the mountains, and the large onset is one of the best we’ve seen.

We are the forth time in Japan, traveling all around the Country and stayed in many riyokans and hotels. This so called royokan is the worst one we stayed. Reading the other reviews I received an impression that the hotel is old and needs renovation, but the food should be amazing. Well, news for you: the food was bad too. The presentation and the taste is really not good at all. The rooms not only need renovation but also cleaning. The curtains are stained, torn, the carpets are dirty, walking on them is disgusting. No blinds on the windows. Woke up at 5:30 am together with the sun. Breakfast was disgusting. No fresh fruits, Jogurt from a bowl, open... The staff very friendly, but no real communication, they don't understand English . We paid 395$ for one night, an overpriced experience, even during "golden week ".
