When Sedia Riverside Hotel was originally built, no trees were felled, which together with the accompanying undergrowth, encourages resident frogs, monitor lizards, squirrels, mongeese, genets and prolific birdlife to share the habitat offered in the verdant grounds of the hotel. Hueglins robins, coucals, hornbills and our resident red-billed francolin families are a common sighting within the grounds. The Sedia Riverside Hotel, a five minute drive from Maun Airport, has a very inviting and welcoming atmosphere, offering guests a unique venue in which to unwind, relax and enjoy personalized service in an environment exuding character.
The Hotel is situated around 6km along the main road from the town and airport in beautiful grounds with a well maintained pool deck with a lovely poolside restaurant, which has a varied and very well executed menu. One wing of the hotel contains newly renovated rooms which are furnished to a very high standards, overlooking the restaurant & pool. I initially stayed in the other un renovated wing (which I believe is on the list to be renovated soon), on the opposite side of the property. These rooms are in need of a little attention but are none the less, spacious and well equipped with individual balconies. There are also several houses and chalets in the grounds if you want a more personal & luxurious experience. Although they decor in my room was a little disappointing, I was perfectly content here until the evening when the bar next to the hotel, which unfortunately is situated adjacent to this accommodation wing, opened and played loud, thumping club music way into the night. It became impossible to attempt sleep and resulted in a very uncomfortable sleepless night. It felt like the speakers were directly outside my door at one point. The following morning, the staff, especially Blessing, the customer service manager, were beyond helpful and moved me to the other side of hotel without question which meant I had 2 peaceful nights. I feel so sorry for the hotel and the staff who have to put up with this noise pollution, it’s totally unsociable. I fully appreciate that this problem is beyond the hotel’s jurisdiction and it appears they have had problems with the bar before, however a true mark of an establishment’s level of professionalism can only be measured by the exemplary way their staff deal with problems and I have no complaints there. So, if you manage to avoid the un renovated wing, or at least hope that the noise problems are resolved soon, this is a fabulous property and I’d return again.

Expect nothing than less than the height level quality of service ,relax in one of two stunning en- suite rooms
The lodge is situated some miles out of town, so forget exploring any near by bars! The immediate surrounding area of the lodge doesn't look good. Many cut down trees and rubbish nearby. You leave the main road and head down a dirt track for some 200-300 meters. If you go past "Choppies" your nearly there. Another tip is to go into before you get to the lodge and stock up on beer/water and snacks. My trip to the lodge didn't get of right, nobody there to meet me. They did eventually turn up in a taxi, which I paid for. Both ways? The lodge on first appearance seem reasonably well kept. Theres space for a dozen cars. There is no area outside to relax in, no seats. nothing. The young girl on reception was polite and I was checked in within 5 minutes. The reception area is rather bleak. There's nothing on the wall, apart from a tv. There's a large fridge, which was empty. A few pictures of the local area and brochures would've help. Once through the reception there is an area, covered by tarpaulins, to protect you the heat. The room was large with a king size bed, tiled floor, air conditioning (a god send) and fridge. Also a tv on the wall, which only ever played one channel. The walls were painted and lacked any other décor. Below the small window was a desk, also a wardrobe with coat hangers. If you need power sockets, there are a couple near the desk. Unless your from South Africa you'll need an adapter. The sockets are similar to South Africa, so you you'll need a 3 pin (round) adapter. The bed was king size with clean sheets and was very comfortable. A bit low down but hey. comfort always wins. Four pillows to choose from. Last but not least 2 towels, also clean and fresh. The bathroom consisted of a shower, sink and loo. Also a shelve which was a pain in the neck or back which ever hit it first. Everything worked, though due the current water shortage the pressure drops and the water trickles out. Hopefully they will get some needed rain soon! As said earlier, there was a kettle which worked and 3 tuppaware dishes with coffee, powdered milk and sugar. There was free Wi-Fi, not brilliant but did work. You get the code from reception. As for eating, I had breakfast which was nice and cooked to order. Meals are taken in the area, covered by the tarpaulins. There was fresh fruit, plenty of toast, which was cold. They made it too soon. Cereal and yoghurt. Tea or coffee and a fruit drink. You are the night before what time you want breakfast. If you choose to go here, then a visit to "Choppies" is a must.

Staff are uninterested, bordering on rude. Only positives are that the rooms are clean , safety seemed okay and it’s very close to the airport. There are better places elsewhere at a similar price and taxies are reasonably priced to get you to the airport.

The hotel is not located where it says on the map. It is several miles outside of the city - a very inconvenient location. Plus the Wifi does not work. When I cancelled my booking because of both these issues, they still charged me for two nights.

This guesthouse is well located in Maun and has a good parking to arrive with car. We had arrived one day earlier and the personal make an effort to see if we can stay one night more and don't go to another place for this night. The room was confortable, bigger, and clean. The wifi worked good and they had also towels. The only inconvenience is that the pressure of the water was low but they had advised us. One good point, for the future, will be the possibility to have breakfast or other meals there because for now, they don't offer this option. The personal was very friendly and take care of any requeriment we needed.

Discovery bed and breakfast is a great stopover on the outskirts of Maun. In a quaint, picturesque setting, you will find an interpretation of a traditional small village. 9 traditional style thatched huts can accommodated up to 18 people.
Discovery B&B was the perfect place to spend our first night in Botswana. After a 2 day journey from California we were very tired. Relaxing around the fire and great conversations with other guests plus a special dinner served that night was just what we needed. The rooms are comfortable and after a good night’s sleep we were ready for our morning flight to the Okavango Delta. The owners are very friendly and helpful and I highly recommend staying here.

I traveled to Maun for a business meeting and weekend relaxation sesh, with some colleagues. The lodge is small and personal, with only 9 rooms. It feels like an old fashioned B&B, not an impersonal hotel. The owner and staff were so warm and made sure we had everything we needed, even giving us a braai and campfire one glorious evening. I left a pair of glasses in my room and they mailed them to Gaborone for me, really going above and beyond to track me down and protect the glasses in transit. The spirit of hospitality and Botho are alive and well here and I can't wait to come back... especially when the river arrives in its full flourishing!

I had a lot of writing to do and this hotel was a great place to work (and rest). Very friendly staff (thank you KK and Kebabonye). They put out a table in the courtyard guardian. I am also grateful to staff because I left my camera and my Bose headphones in the room after I checked out (I know, duh). they recovered them both and kept them until I could pick them up.
