We had two great nights here, before our gorilla trek and then after it. Our shoes and boots were mud encrusted when we returned from the trek and staff greeted us with free foot massages and they cleaned our boots/shoes. Mine looked new afterwards and I thought would have to throw them away. The food was really good and their lounge was pleasant as a place to hang out, have a drink and eat popcorn. The rooms are beautifully decorated and each has a fireplace. They will build a fire any time for you, but at dusk they put a fire in the fireplace and furry hot water bottles under the sheets. Being cool here at night, it was great to slide into bed and find the sheets warmed. The whole place is comfortable and friendly. I highly recommend it. This lodge is right next to the new Dian Fossey Visitor and Research Center, a great place to visit.

I visited this hotel twice, one time only travelling and one time working. For both occasions it has everything you need. It's currently managed by a German couple, who are very helpful and want you to have the best time on your trip in Rwanda. They gave me many insider tips on visiting the caves, the volcanoes national park and other places in the country, organized a bicycle for me and many more. Since they own a restaurant for 30 years in Germany, they make sure that there is excellent Western and Rwandan food. In the whole hotel there is Wifi and they have hot showers. The rooms and beds are very comfortable, the hotel area is very green and they are conscious about sustainability issues. I can definitely recommend this place and wouldn't visit any other hotel in Musanze.

Amahoro Guesthouse is a quiet and secluded accommodation in Musanze former Ruhengeri. The house is just a couple of streets away from the city main street with easy (5min) walk distance of restaurants, shops, and banks. We have two double rooms (B&B) en-suite (private bathroom) and three twin bedrooms with three beds (B&B) (shared bathroom). The guesthouse has a lovely little private garden and outdoor veranda. The kitchen is spacious and guest are welcome to use it anytime. We offer continental breakfast that is always included in the rate for the room.
I had a wonderful experience and the staff was very efficient and helpful. Close to restaurants and well located in the City Centre. I travelled by local bus from Kigali so it was easy to walk to the lodge. This is a good base for doing activities in Musanze and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg- especially when doing the Gorilla experience as a add on. Highly recommendable. Definitely Home Away from Home. Looking forward to my return visit!

Staff was extremely hospitable and welcoming. Bedrooms were comfortable and clean with individual mosquito nets over beds. Bread, fruit and omelett were freshly prepared for us for breakfast at an agreed time. No issues for an earlier breakfast when we started our day with an early hiking activity. Plus when we came back with our muddy shoes staff was accommodating and helped us cleaning and drying in the backyard. Shared bathroom is as clean as it can be when you use it with several people. Since there is no shower curtain the entire floor gets wet easily and nothing to dry it off - which is the only minus point I can list. The place is located in short walking distance to town in a quiet street. Internet didn't work at all times though this wasn't an issue for us. Definitely recommended!!

I perhaps should not have expected too much when there was no prominently displayed sign for the hotel and I drove past it twice. The pool was empty and had some fairly major repairs being undertaken at one end. The room was OK, although the advertised coffee machine did not exist and the TV, (not flat screen as advertised) only had a single channel which might have been OK if you spoke French. The bathroom was very small but had a bath with a plug and plenty of hot water. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately, the bar occupies the same space as the restaurant and can get very nosy. Service was very attentive but the capitaine fish was sliced too thinly and therefore seriously overcooked. Perhaps one of the worst fish dishes I have eaten ion Rwanda in two years. Breakfast, although not buffet style, was ample and well presented with well prepared eggs, toast, coffee and tea and plenty of fresh fruit. There are plenty of hotels to chose from in Musanze and I will most certainly try a different one next time I visit the town. Gorillas really need to significantly improve to justify what I think is a pretty high price bracket of US$90 a night. I guess the fact that the hotel was empty speaks for itself.

We spent one night in Virunga hotel, that is located is a noisy road The rooms are well equipped and clean. The beds are comfortable. Food is good. The major concern is that the hotel is not located close to the Volcanoes national park headquarter, from where gorillas and golden monkeys trekking begin. Thus, you have to wake up earlier to be in good condition for the general briefing regarding gorillas and golden monkeys trekking!!!
If you’re looking for a small hotel in Ruhengeri, look no further than Snow Hotel. Snow Hotel features a 24 hour front desk and room service, to help make your stay more enjoyable. The property also boasts a lounge. If you are driving to Snow Hotel, free parking is available. While you’re here, be sure to check out some of the Italian restaurants, including Volcana Lounge and Isange Restaurant, all of which are a short distance from Snow Hotel. Looking for something to do in Ruhengeri? Karisoke Research Center - Dian Fossey Camp (1.1 mi) is a popular attraction that is within walking distance of Snow Hotel. The staff at Snow Hotel looks forward to serving you during your upcoming visit.

My friend and I traveled to Musanze for the first time and landed at the pefect spot. Affordable without sacrificing needed amenities. The location is also perfect for easy transportation. Not to mention, you may catch some amazing views to the volcanos. More importantly the owner is very hospital and willing to help with any issues.
