Reviewed By RarisangWe stayed two nights here, organised by Sundowners Overland as part of our independent Trans Mongolian trip. It's up a steep local road which gives you a sense of local life. It is a very welcoming place run by a family and Baikal Complex tour company. There is always tea, coffee and biscuits available in the dining room / reception area. The food is very good. Irina and Maria are very hospitable and happy to help you pronounce Russian and organise taxis. We had a lower room opening out on to a verandah which looks out at a hill covered in beautiful autumn trees. Those who had upper rooms got views of Lake Baikal. Laundry is done promptly and economically. We loved staying here!

This is a love it or hate it sort of place
Reviewed By WoobsleThe good points about this stay near Lake Baikal were firstly the excellent service provided by the owners who spoke English fairly well and were very accommodating. They provided a taxi service into Lysvyanka for 200r and to Irkutsk for 2000r a useful laundry service and basic meals. The hotel was uniquely decorated with a million interesting items. There was a lovely balcony in a silver birch wood. The downside for us was the sharing of bath and toilet facilities (we did know about this so our fault) poor sound insulation and we like a more minimalist set up. Also the walk to Lysvyanka took about an hour minimum.

The hotel complex "U Ozera" is located 10 meters from Lake Baikal in southern Listvyanka. The 60-ti kilometers from Irkutsk. The complex is located in a picturesque place near the source of the Angara River and is an ideal place for a comfortable stay and a familiarity with the sacred Lake Baikal. The complex housed several buildings: a café-bar, summer garden furniture, Russian bath, as well as an observation deck Lighthouse, which offers panoramic views of Lake Baikal. The complex consists of nine comfortable rooms and four house "Luxe" category, standing on its own territory. Family Room category "Comfort" are soboy- living room and bedroom with a large bed, balcony c, fully made of wood. In each room, plasma TV, Wi-Fi, a sofa, chair, refrigerator, WC, shower, toiletries. Within the hotel complex for leisure guests provided: -playground, -children's corner, -bicycles for rent, -Review of binoculars, -Secured parking, -services transfer, -besedki at the cafe, gazebo on the shore of Lake Baikal, -lezhaki, -a boat.
Do not stay here!
Reviewed By destinationchaser1Staff is very rude and unhelpful! Really the worst service I have experienced so far in Russia. The location is not convenient either and we found that there were much better options for way less money. The bathroom was very badly made. The language barrier was very bad to the extent that they told us that some services were included in the fare that ended up costing us more in the end without notice. We are really disappointed and would advice you to not stay here!

Staff are helpful, room is good size and has a balcony and bathroom is pretty good. Restaurants and shops are near the square which is a short walk. Overall, happy with the stay.

Very nice and clean guesthouse
Reviewed By andreadN5705TPWe just spend one night at the guesthouse. The room was comfortable but not special, but you have all what you need. The bed is comfortable and we liked the balcony which is around the house. The breakfast was delicious with a choice of tomato, cucumber, cheese, salami, bread, fried eggs and a sweet bum. I can really recommend the guesthouse. It’s just 10 min walk to the city center and the market and directly at the start of the Baikal lake trail.

Can't praise the staff enough
Reviewed By fancyratsThis hotel was pretty hard to locate - even the woman in the tourist office didn't know where it was. It's about halfway between the main town area and the museum. It's near the Lucky Kopeck shop and the yurt restaurant. Expect a 15 / 20 minute walk from the main tourist area. This wasn't a cheap hotel and the the accommodation didn't quite live up to its billing. The shower door was hanging off, the shower didn't work properly and there was no sign of the sauna. The wooden floors meant that every sound echoed around the building, making for quite a noisy evening. When everyone had gone to bed, the hotel was much quieter and the room was large and the beds comfortable enough so we enjoyed a reasonable night's sleep. The noise situation wasn't helped by some building work occurring next to the hotel, although this seemed minor in scale. However, the hotel had two redeeming features. Firstly, the breakfast was good - it was generous and very filling. I enjoyed scrambled eggs, followed by pancakes. More importantly, the staff were excellent. They were friendly but also went above and beyond the call of duty. When we lost something, both the cleaner and receptionist spent a lot of time helping us out. They phoned the police for us, they accompanied us down to the places where we last had it, and in the end, they helped us find it (the loss was outside the hotel, and our own fault - nothing whatsoever to do with the staff at the hotel or anywhere else) and then they phoned to cancel the police visit.

Reviewed By RLO721The location is great, the room is adequate, and the price is right. Shared bathrooms are never fun, but you can't have everything in life. My main complaint would be the lack of service -- this guesthouse is pretty DIY, but this is Russia isn't it?
