Sitting in a valley in the Andes Mountains, La Paz is the city that touches the clouds. The de facto capital of Bolivia, and sitting between 3300 and 4100 meters above sea level, La Paz is the highest capital city in the world. Rich with 19th century churches, museums of artifacts from the pre-Conquest era, precarious overlooks, and colorful markets, La Paz is truly unique. The Witches’ Market, in the center of the city, sells charms and potions for Aymara rituals, as well as souvenirs.

I realized today I never wrote a review of Rendezvous (I spent almost a week there in May 2015). I traveled for 3 months through South America and this place is tied for my #1 favorite lodging. The great things included: very comfortable rooms and beds, amazing breakfasts, gourmet dinners from the restaurant (the owner Zac is also a chef), the nice staff, and the DVD collection (each room has a DVD player). They have a library of hundreds of DVDs to borrow. I was traveling solo and liked that it was easy to meet other guests. Zac treated me like an old friend and even gave me a tour of the hotel and shared with me the renovations he did. I hope to return there one day. I highly recommend.

We enjoyed our stay at Casa de Piedra. The location was great and the hotel quaint. But we would like to especially thank Jorge, one of the hotel staff, who provided us with exceptional advice and help. Jorge explained La Paz's cable car system to us and even loaned us his system pass card. He also made special arrangements for us to be picked up by our tour guide one day when a miner's protest closed the road in front of the hotel, even walking with us to make sure that we were safely in our guide's hands at the meeting place he arranged with the guide. Thanks Jorge for making our stay in LaPaz an exceptional experience!

A new elegant and cozy alternative in La Paz close to downtown but away from all the noises, with many embassies and banks close by. If you are planning a business stay and looking for a great variety of restaurants, pubs and entertainment for all ages, Hotel Mitru is your perfect place.
The hotel has a perfect location, it's super cozy and the service is wonderful. I experienced a wonderful massage at the SPA and drinks at the sky bar. All the staff members made me feel at home. Definitely a place to stay in my next visit to Bolivia.

Arrived at 2.30 am after a long distance flight, well received with cocoa tea. Very nice room, warm water, portable heater, spotless clean, towels on the bed, good WIFI. Delicious breakfast buffet with typical Bolivian food amongst international food. To recommend! Very fair value for money! Thank you Tinka for the warm welcoming at 2.30 in the morning!

This hotel was spotless. Front desk people also spoke English which was very helpful. Our bed was super comfortable with extremely soft sheets. They included breakfast was very tasty with a wide variety of foods and some of the best coffee I’ve tasted in a long time. I highly recommend staying here. Wi-Fi coverage was also very good in the lobby and in our rooms.

We booked a Queen Suite for our stay at the Bolivian Rooms and Suites. We choose to stay in the Zona Sur area as were flying straight to La Paz from sea level and suspected we would struggle acclimatising (the Zona Sur area is a lot lower in altitude than ventral La Paz). We were really happy with our choice of accommodation. We had a lovely big room with a small Kitchenette which made it easy to prepare food we bought at the supermarket a very short walk away. Although the staff had limited English, they were so kind and lovely and it was super easy with Google Translater. I recommend these rooms if you are looking for value rooms in a good location and great staff.

Hotel Luxstone is really nice place that we can offer to you kichinette, buffet breakfast also it is all suites with sofa, free fast wifi, cable tv.
Overall we were happy with our stay, because of the nice big room and bed and the location of the hotel. However, there are some negative points to consider: - the breakfast (which was from 7.30-9.30) was so limited that everyday almost everything was gone by 9.00 - there was only 1 towel in the room, we had to get another one at the reception - on day 3 we asked for new towels but the cleaning lady told us there were no clean ones anymore (??? seems very strange for a hotel) so we didn't get new ones - the laundry service is terrible. We brought our laundry in and they told us we would get it back the next morning at 10.00. However, the next morning they told us that it wasn't done yet and we would get it the day after. This wasn't possible for us since we would leave that same night. After a lot of discussion with the reception, who called the laundry service, they arranged for us to get the laundry back in the afternoon. However, when we finally got it back it wasn't clean, some items were still wet and there was an item missing. We reported the missing item to the reception, who called again with the laundry service. They told me I was mistaken and that everything had been sent back. I insisted they checked again since I was sure I was missing something. They told me to check again and they would let me know something later that day. In the evening we still hadn't heard anything back. There was someone else at the reception who knew of nothing. He called with the laundry service again and after an hour he brought me my missing item... After all this fuss we still had to pay a lot for our laundry (14 bs per kg), not worth it at all! - We ordered room service at the reception, the clerk told us it would take 30-40 min to arrive. After half an hour he came to our room telling us the pizza deliverer was closed. I don't understand why he took so long to call and tell us this? Very unprofessional.

The ceviche tostada desgreñada was absolutely amazing! It’s probably the best ceviche I’ve ever had in my life. The food was five stars. What brought it down to four stars was the lack of customer service. There were only two other customers in the building and the waitress let us run out of water twice and she stayed on the other side of the room the entire time. They need to train their staff to be more customer oriented. Also, the soda had barely enough syrup to give it a taste, and there was no carbonation.
