Very nice hotel in Haputale. The city itself had a much more relaxed vibe than nearby Ella. The room was clean and dry, and the view outside my window was breathtaking. The hotel organized a tuk tuk driver for the day who was excellent. the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Good dinner and breakfast, and excellent tea. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone planning a trip to Haputale.

The family hosted me with great kindness, helpful advice, and delicious food. They home has spectacular views. I was only going to stay one night but ended up staying 3 because it was so relaxing and there was so much to see. The home is in a great spot close to an old monestary, Stupa, and great 7km hike through the jungle where you can hike without any tourists and see monkeys. The Diyaluma Falls are an easy bus ride away. Definitely recommend staying here!

Boasting 5 beautiful modern bedrooms with ensuite walk in showers and all luxury amenities, this is true hill country living with a touch of luxury. Nested between resident wildlife including over 30 species of birds, eSKPE is a tranquil hideaway.
Eskape Blackwood, named after the founder, is a travel treasure with charming comfortable rooms and a staff that goes the extra mile at every turn. This includes a tea-time style greeting/check-in in their cozy lounge, drinks by an outdoor fire on the patio, and delicious meals served by attentive staff. Even the founder's daughter/grand-daugther(?) took time to chat with us one night and tell the history of this beautiful guest house, which includes a tiny active bird nest tucked into one of the original beams of the main hall. ... An added treat was being asked to plant a tree on the flowered and waterfalled grounds as a reminder of our stay and hopes to return. A wonderful 2-night experience.

It’s difficult to grade this place. It provides basic accommodation and you couldn’t ask for much more for the price. The family who run it are delightful and can’t do enough to help. As many have said the views over the tea plantations are delightful. Their food is probably better than anywhere in the town. It is easy to get to from the station - cheap tuk-tuk or a 15 walk along the railway track! TIP Visit the Kelliebedde Tea Factory, it’s fascinating, then have tea and cake in their cafe.

We highly recommend this pleasant affordable hotel. It’s staffed by the family that owns it and they are amazing. They will bring you anything you want to eat or drink and the son runs a terrific taxi service. He can take you anywhere in Sri Lanka. Haputale is in a beautiful location with attractions close by and one of the closest towns to the amazing Horton plains national Park which is a world heritage site. Beautiful tea plantations

Welcome to Thotalagala, a remarkable feat of restoration. The bungalow has been revived to its former glory, with seven themed suites based on personalities that shaped the history of the province of Uva, one of the foremost tea growing regions in Sri Lanka, the finest tea growing region in the world.
From the breathtaking views, spacious and luxurious suites, great food and top notch hospitality, everything was just perfect! Staying at Thotalagala felt like being transported back in time with all the modern conveniences. Exceptional service from the whole team (resident manager - Deepika, butlers - Manjula, Namal, among others) made us feel like we were home visiting family. Special mention to the Chef & his team for amazing food. I am gluten intolerant and they went out of the way to accommodate me - freshly made gf bread, muffins, cookies were impressive to say the least! Highly recommend! Thank you for a truly magical stay. We booked this backpackers hostel on booking.com because of the reasonable price and photos that were advertised on booking.com. We came here after a 7 hour journey and once we saw the place it was not like what it had advertised on booking.com. The photos were misleading and deceiving to say the least, the room we got was below basic and had a sour smell similar to when clothes are improperly dried. The bathroom didnt have hot water either. Thankfully we stayed here only for one night and left the following day since this place had nothing special to offer. The room we got didn't have a veranda or balcony nor a proper view, unlike the fake photos they have advertised on booking.com. This place is run by a family who just by my assumption and judgment like having "white people" around because it's like a big thing for them. The two brothers who run the business are unfriendly, weird and one of them is shady as well since he was asking me all sorts of unnecessary questions like where are going to stay next and bragging about the uniqueness of the service they provide and etc. Trust me it was nothing special, not good and below basic. This is an ideal place for cheap backpackers and those cheap workaway's who will basically anywhere. Don't expect luxury from here. Also the place is super far from the centre and not the advertised distance on booking.com. For a place thats super far, up a hill and the fact there aren't any good views, thats just a massive disappointment. There are better places closer to the centre, with better views, better service, most importantly better and clean rooms.
